Crownless: The Fallen World - Chapter 20
Aires entered the bedroom and saw Hale in a new set of clothes who were arranging the things that weren’t there when they first came in. “You hungry?” Aires asked.
“Are we going to eat out?”
“Do you want to?”
“Sure? What have you got in mind?”
“I was thinking that I will go buy groceries and cook here.”
“Haha! I never tasted your cooking! Let’s go! Hurry, lovely brother!” Hale pulled Aires out of the Hotel room, never forgetting to grab the room key card. They entered the elevator, stopped at the 1st floor, logging out first, and they got out of the building.
“So, any ideas as to where the supermarket is?” Aires smirked when Hale stopped pulling him.
“We can wander around!” The smaller declared while pointing everywhere. In that instant, Aires heard Hale’s stomach growled then his stomach came next.
“I should ask someone,” Aires groaned and approached a lady who held a pink parasol, her small and petite body was carefully hugged by a long red silk dress that scraped the paved walkway, “Good afternoon, my Lady. Do you, perhaps, know where the supermarket is?”
A soft and delicate voice answered, its melody pleasantly rang inside Aires’ head, “I am heading there, my gentleman. Shall we go together?”
“I am honored. I also have a companion,” Aires looked at Hale, who was boredly looking at them then raised his hand, “Yo.”
They seem to not notice how the crowd of people looked at them with worries in their eyes, some stared at them as if what they were seeing something unbelievable.
“Hello!” She happily greeted Hale then she nodded at them and continued walking, “I forgot to ask your name, Mr. Gentleman, and you can call me Sylvia.”
“It’s a pleasure to meet you, Madame Sylvia. My name is Se-“
“He’s Aires and I’m Hale, nice to meet you too, Sylvia,” Hale caught up to the two, standing at the empty left side of the female.
“Oh wow. I’m being sandwiched by the both of you. These two tall boys… my neck will break if I ever stare directly in your eyes. You all should crouch down and level our eyesight.”
“Prepare yourself though, I will still grow,” Hale smugly announced.
“Huh? How old are you?”
“19, turning 20 this November 3.”
“That was like 2 months away! Well… if you considered September 1, it’ll still be more than two. I am freaking 24!” She suddenly turned to Aires, “You? How about you? How old are you?”
“18, turning 19 next year in June,” He looked down and smiled at the small female, making her stupefied and blushing like mad.
She bit her bottom lip while playing with the handle of her parasol then breathed out, “Wow… Aires will surely grow taller this year… how tall are you?”
“You might reach 7! You’ll be a giant by then! I’m envious…” She fanned herself while taking slight glances at Aires. Her breath came out which she didn’t know she was holding when she saw the supermarket, “There it is! So, I guess this is where we’ll part. If you still want to meet up, we can use our residency code… and you don’t have them…”
Her eyes widened when she saw their unmarked right backhands, “Oh… foreigners…” She said with slight disappointment in her voice.
“True, but we will get our residency codes by tomorrow,” Aires tousled the female’s head in just one second before abruptly retreating his hand.
“Then! This is my residency code number,” She tapped her right backhand then numbers showed up, “Please remember it and contact me.”
With that, Sylvia left them while she skipped happily towards the automatic door of the market. Hale kicked Aires’ lower back, who hissed at the contact, then entered the supermarket.
“What the fck is that for…” He rubbed his lower back, tilting his head up. His eyes squinted when he saw a hella huge dark cloud approaching from afar. He tapped his Holowrist, then a makeshift watch appeared by the wish of its owner using the Holowrist’s mind link.
He looked at his watch and saw that it was only 5.37 pm, concluding that it may rain anytime, “Oh sht. I forgot to buy an umbrella in the virtual shop…”
The one thing that he deemed not important by the time he bought things from the shop was now suddenly important. He should just buy everything in the virtual shop… but then, he won’t be having any time to organize all those shts.
Aires chose to ignore whatever it was in the sky and entered the supermarket to buy some precious goods and to feed their raging tummies.
It was only 45 minutes when they started shopping, yet they had 4 shopping baskets following their path, all were full of foods and whatevers that Hale put inside. After circling the vegetable section, they entered the meat section. Hale’s eyes brightened with the amount of marbled meat he could see.
Heck, they left the section with another full basket.
The two tall males always attracted attention whenever they walked in an aisle, mostly strange looks towards the hyperactive Hale who kept dumping things in the baskets. Aires heavily sighed as he walked towards the miscellaneous section, 3 baskets following behind him which the other 2 was behind Hale.
“Will the baskets break?” Aires wondered if the two high-tech baskets could keep up with the hyper Hale. He also wondered about his wallet if he might have to use one of his black cards…
Since he never saw anything he could use in the miscellaneous section, he left to fetch Hale. Before he could step out, the male bolted in the section and dumped things again. Aires saw the additional 2 baskets behind after some time.
“Wow…” Aires exclaimed, he was surprised that the baskets never broke. He might have to steal one or buy one here… if they could only let him.
Hale stopped after another 20 minutes of running around, he glanced at Aires, who was leisurely sitting on one of the sofas and was reading a book with 3 baskets lined up in front of him, and cheerily shouted, “Aires! Let’s pay for these now!”
Aires sighed, closed his book then walked towards Hale who was now in the line for the counter.
When Aires put down all the items of his 2nd basket, he felt a vibration in his right hand. A call… from who?
“Sir, the next basket please,” The cashier broke Aires’ thought, who smiled politely at him.
