Rebirth handbook - chapter 40
“How about it, is Meng Caiqi already in the S city? Very good. Next, I can arrange a ‘coincidence’ encounter for her and He Xianyang… When I go back, I hope this long-lost first love starts again .”
Chang Manjing hung up the phone, smiled unclearly, took a sip of the black tea on the table, and cast her gaze on the blue ocean. After she saw something, her lips raised a real smile.
The sea breeze was sweltering, and a tall and thin young man holding a surfboard came from a distance on the beach. He saw Chang Manjing on the balcony. He looked up, waited for her to beckon him and then walked into the villa. After a while, Chang Manjing heard the footsteps on the stairs, and then the refreshing breath of the teenager gradually approached.
“You’re up.” He Weiming stood beside her, with long arms and legs, he looked lost.
Ever since Chang Manjing told him how she felt, He Weiming was in that state. Seeing her in front of him he looked at her with bright eyes, but when Chang Manjing looked at him, he was at odds. She looked at him, but he turned his eyes to look at other places. Occasionally, if their gazes met inadvertently, he would immediately turn his head subconsciously.
He wanted to be next to Chang Manjing, but he stopped as soon as she got close, as if there was an invisible barrier on his body that prevented her from touching him.
Chang Manjing watched his strange state for two days, and didn’t understand what the young man was thinking. But she wasn’t in a hurry either, after all, she was the one that was favored, so she was obviously more confident than He Weiming.
And he was too cautious about Chang Manjing. After he received her acceptance, he dared not to treat it lightly. Therefore, the inexperienced youth became more and more helpless, as if he guarded a treasure but dared not to touch it. The teenager was much more innocent and jerky than Chang Manjing.
After a while, he sat down on the stool next to Chang Manjing. Chang Manjing found him different from the past, and couldn’t help but want to tease him. And when he looked at her cold face, he wanted to say something but was not able to. She was actually surprised, someone who didn’t care about many things, took the initiative to talk.
She must also pay attention to the force to a certain degree. If she overplays it, it would be bad. So Chang Manjing didn’t change her attitude. The two didn’t make further progress. Even Chang Manjing’s deliberate closeness, like in the past was gone. He Weiming fell into a kind of strange state. He didn’t take the initiative to get close, and the two couldn’t stay close as before.
After a few days of being so awkward, He Weiming seemed to have finally recovered a bit. He started to get close to Chang Manjing, but he did it carefully, as if he was afraid that she would suddenly feel bad, and regret being with him. The two went for a walk in the evening that day. Chang Manjing walked in front and He Weiming followed. Perceiving the substantive look coming from behind, Chang Manjing deliberately walked a little slower, and He Weiming walked two steps hurriedly, and moved his fingers to touch Chang Manjing’s hand.
Chang Manjing didn’t turn her head either. She just looked at the sea, opened her hand and handed it to He Weiming with a smile in her voice, “Here, take it if you want.”
He Weiming held her silently. After the walk on the beach, it was time to go back. He let go of Chang Manjing with unfinished intention. Chang Manjing wiped the wet and hot palms of her hands on the back of He Weiming, then took his hand and raised it, “So nervous? What should I do then?”
He Weiming’s claws stiffened, “… won’t happen next time.”
Chang Manjing raised her hand to show him the hand that was flushed by him.
He Weiming, “…Next time…”
The only time He Weiming would actively hold Chang Manjing was probably when she went to the lively beach. Every time Chang Manjing went to go to drink, He Weiming’s expression didn’t change, but she could see that he was nervous, and when they got there. He Weiming would sit very close to her, and was attentive to all those who tried to approach her. Chang Manjing deliberately went to the big beach for several drinks in order to see his nervous look with cold cold eyes. She drank by herself. It was a bit pitiful to see He Weiming stare at her every time, so she ordered him a glass with low alcohol content and allowed him to drink.
“I’m drunk. If you get drunk, what will the two of us do? It’s not necessarily going to happen though.” Chang Manjing leaned on He Weiming’s shoulder under the ambiguous moonlight.
He Weiming’s ears turned red and he was annoyed. They didn’t do intimate things. The two seemed to have reached a tacit agreement. Neither of the two mentioned such things before. He Weiming was worried, he felt that at such time and circumstances, if he does anything, it would be as if he didn’t respect Chang Manjing. And, Chang Manjing also had her own plans.
Maybe when they go back, when He Weiming comes to know his life experience, their relationship would change. Even if Chang Manjing looked at He Weiming with loving eyes every day, there was always a uncertainty in her heart. He was a very good man she taught. He would become a better man in the future. He would have many choices. He could be with her or choose not to be with her. It was Chang Manjing’s greatest love and tolerance for the person she loved.
“Can I sleep with you tonight?” He Weiming asked as he led Chang Manjing back to the villa.
“Just sleeping?” Chang Manjing asked. He Weiming’s ears were red, but he nodded in response to Chang Manjing’s narrow gaze.
“Okay.” Chang Manjing tilted her head with her hands behind her back, “Actually, when you first came to my house, we slept together many times before. Now we don’t need to be so shy, right?”
He Weiming was silent. At that time, he just wanted to sleep purely, not like this.
“So if you are feeling embarrassed it must be because you are thinking about something.” Chang Manjing affirmed.
After all, his face was too tender. He Weiming couldn’t win against that big sister. His ears were a little red when they had dinner. Chang Manjing watched his funny reaction as she ate half a bowl of rice.
