Queen of flowers - Chapter 31
“How desolate can it be? Anyway, when I’m Yua Qi’s first wife. Can the Yang family not afford to provide me with a bowl of food? “
What she would encounter in her widowhood was indeed unpredictable. But after consideration, she felt that marrying the Yang family was the best way out.
She did not plan to stay in Yang’s house for a lifetime. She hoped to be released from the marriage and leave in the future. If she went to Feng Gongzi’s house, she was certain that one day she would be destroyed by someone who was “more honorable” Even the method of her death would be unknown.
She knew it was not a perfect way out.
But how can there be anything perfect in this world? There would be some kind of difficulties— wind, frost, rain, snow, while walking on any road. This road or that road, it didn’t matter. Who could live a lifetime without any winds and waves? To her, that was already the least risky way to live.
Feng Liao was speechless, staring at her with embarrassment, his face gradually showing a little despair.
“It’s not that I don’t want to marry you as my wife, but the elders in my family will never agree!” He said painfully.
Yong Ruo was extremely calm and said lightly, “I know.”
It was the reason why she had never thought about it.
In modern society, if parents didn’t agree to a marriage, children could fight. In this era, the word “filial piety” was a noose around the necks of children. The more they struggled, the faster they died, there was no possibility for them to resist.
If she entered his house and annoyed his “more honorable” parents, her end would be “more miserable” and even her mother, Yong Qiao, and Yong Miao would be affected.
She wouldn’t do such an irrational thing!
Feng Liao couldn’t say anything.
The expression on his face was intertwined with heavy despair and sadness. Yong Ruo could not bear it for a while, but she had no intention of giving in.
After a long time, Feng Liao suddenly laughed and murmured, “Pretending to be a little red peach and apricot, but still have a thin and lonely posture.”
After groaning, he paused for a while, and smiled extremely bleakly, before saying, “I seem to be pressuring you! The plum blossom has always been proud of snow and cold and would never let go of her pride!! “
Tears flashed in his eyes, afraid of her seeing them, he lowered his head and looked down, and walked quickly out of the yard.
“Then, wish the girl …”
As he left, he wanted to say a few lucky words to bless her. But just after thinking about it, those words blocked his chest. His heart was drowned in a kind of sour and astringent, spicy and bitter, and the unfamiliar, strange emotions, couldn’t be shaken off … It was like a blind beast trapped, only feeling the boundless darkness and severe pain.
Su Mingjian and Rob looked deeply at Yong Ruo, with slight anger in their eyes, and then they hurried out.
Yong Ruo stood still in the yard.
She heard the sounds of horse carts and footsteps outside as the courtyard gradually fell into silence, and she felt … somewhat upset.
Yong Qiao closed the gate and said carefully to Yong Ruo, “Sister, mother asked you to go in!”
Yong Ruo returned to the main room lazily.
Zhou got up when she saw her come in. She gasped and said, “That Feng young master wants to marry you?”
Yong Ruo nodded.
“You refused?”
Yong Ruo nodded again. Thinking of the identity of Feng Gongzi, she asked, “Mother, how old was the emperor when he ascended the throne?”
Zhou thought for a while and answered, “About 30 years old. What’s the matter?”
Yong Ruo thought, ‘Feng Gongzi really is not the emperor!’
“I’m just guessing his identity. I am sure he is a prince, but I don’t know if he is a crown prince or a normal one.”
Zhou went silent for a long time. Then she whispered: “I also hope that the prince Feng will simply rob you and let you not go to chongxi,” she cried again.
Yong Ruo thought, ‘The young master, it’s time really to let go!’
She comforted Zhou, “Don’t worry about it! No matter what is in store for me in the future, I will live well and take care of my brothers.”

I don’t think this Mc is stupid at all. She’s holding onto her intelligence in fact. She’s completely right about all the b.s she has to look forward to in a richer household. Fuck- She says so herself, if her husband is shitty then there’s no need for him to stay alive to be shitty towards her, which implies that she’s pragmatic enough to kill off a man shitty enough to attempt to abuse her.
First poster up there is probably used to hypocritical mc’s with no resolve, who runs their mouth about independence, but falls in love with a shitty ml nonetheless. From the summary they end up together anyway, I don’t know why the first commenter is so impatient.
She sees her situation very clearly. With this so called prince who attempts to treat her sincerely, she knows that if she gives in and goes with him, maybe her heart could one day be entangled and then she really will be a sad little concubine in a big house, hanging onto her masters affection.
But if she marries a half dead man, with that fully pragmatic mindset, she won’t allow herself to fall in love, she won’t have any expectations, and the status as a legitimate wife~ well, with this Mc’s pragmatic and imo, ruthless mindset, if they really do try any b.s, I can definitely see her running off at and being like; “Rumors of my death have been exaggerated.” To her worried family.
And then after a period of hiding, return for vengeance against her former in laws. Something easier to do against a family of less power and influence than a mysteriously powerful young nobleman with escorted guards everywhere.
Anyways, what I’m trying to say is that this Mc has shown herself to be very pragmatic in thoughts and deed, and I have a lot of faith and confidence in her decisions.

I couldn’t have said it better myself. I have confidence in the MC’s decisions. Picking the prince is not beneficial to her and her brothers.

Meh, I just don’t like unnecessary trouble. Like, we know she’s gonna end up with prince, but there needs to be stupid bullshit in between. And no, she ain’t smart. Like, her mother has 7 days to live, and she wants to cure her. I think it’s easier to marry prince, because she needs to get contraceptive medicine for points. She will probably get it easier in the palace than with the dead man. Lol, the man is half dead, why would somebody feed her that medicine when he can’t do anything to her. And if he dies, why would a widow need a contraceptive medicine? So yeah. Her logic is flawed. Very flawed. And for sure, Yang family doesn’t look like they would take care of her family. So she would just leave them alone to fend for themselfs? I doubt her in laws would allow visits to her poor, uneducated family. So that’s why I’m rolling eyes on her logic. She thinks herself very smart, but she’s not. And your logic on why she’s doesn’t want to marry a prince is also a meeeh. Why worry about future when she needs help now. Like asap. Like, even if she’s one of the countless concubines in the harem, she would probably thrive. She has a system. Lol. I don’t know what are her worries. That she’s going to fall in love with a future womanizer? Then, she’s still stupid. If she’s going for the marriage of convience, she should be looking for more beneficial one.
Well, sorry for the rant. I read A LOT of novels. Like, hundred of new chapters a day, so I saw a lot of heroines/heroes. Some are really smart and some are just full of themselves. (some are also plain stupid). I like this novel, for now, so I will continue reading. But yeah, her decision irked me, so I voiced it. Usually I don’t bother.

I feel like the fact that you know she ends up with the prince is really coloring your judgment here. The reality is that her marrying a prince and having some sort of “happily-ever-after” is an absurdist fantasy that is only possible *because* this is a novel. Of course, marrying a dying noble is no bed of roses and there are tons of ways things can and will go wrong for her by doing so.
But! Compared to marrying a prince – it’s better. Because, realistically, marrying a prince is literally just a death sentence since, you know, every single other woman in his harem would be able to crush her to death just on status alone and there would be no one to mourn or care after she is gone. Or is she supposed to somehow rely on a man’s love to protect her 24/7/365 every day for the rest of her life? lol
Marrying the guy on his deathbed has similar risks except she has a lot more leverage (since she will initially be the main wife and – with the system – she could theoretically actually cure the guy) and it will be easier for her to dip out if things go really sideways since the guy is on his deathbed and doesn’t have the same kind of reach as a prince.
Dee
I agree. The MC has weighed the pros and cons and i think the yang guy is the correct choice for now.
Dee
I agree!
Amon
How stupid she is? Does she really think that if that Yong guy dies, she will still live in his house? She can be happy if they don’t bury her alive with him. Which is a big possibility. Or if he stays alive and recovers, she can be still demoted to concubine and die.
She is poor girl with 2 burdens. If her mother dies, she is also an orphan. If she doesn’t want to marry poor, she can only be a concubine.
