Chapter 33 – The Invitation
That night, Chen Feng came home in the middle of the night. The lights in the living room were turned on and Old Man Shan was waiting for him on the sofa.
Chen Feng squinted his eyes and raised his eyebrows.
“Dad, what are you doing staying up so late?” Chen Feng took off his jacket and handed it to a servant.
“I’m here to talk about Yu Yu’s education”
“We can talk about it tomorrow, it’s not good for your health to stay up so late. You’re not young anymore.” Chen Feng said while casually sitting in front of Old man Shan.
Old Man Shan gave an old butler on his side a meaningful look. After many years working with old man Shan, the old butler understood what he meant and took a letter from his chest pocket. He then respectfully handed it to Chen Feng.
Chen Feng took it and read it. It was from the Du family. When Chen Feng read the contents, he saw that Du Hao specifically “asked” for Chen Daiyu to come.
“Yijun said that he wanted to buy clothes for Yu Yu today, right?”
Old man Shan nodded. “They were pretty tired, they went straight to bed when they came home.” He subconsciously smiled, because it meant that his granddaughter was already comfortable in his house.
Chen Feng’s insincere smile never faded from his face, but he seemed like he was in deep thought. Finally, he stood up and said, “we’ll ask Yu Yu first for her opinion then we’ll figure out what to do from there. We’ll talk again tomorrow, butler, take Dad to his room”
The old butler nodded and led Old Man Shan away.
In the morning, Chen Daiyu woke up extra early and did some basic stretches that suited her small physique. After washing up, she went downstairs to eat.
Other than Shan He who still hadn’t come back, everyone was around the table waiting for the dishes to be served.
She had come just in time.
She stared curiously at her dad, who she hadn’t seen after breakfast yesterday, and crawled onto the chair.
Seeing her struggle, Chen Feng couldn’t help but find it amusing and watched her without any intention to help.
Old man Shan glared at Chen Feng, while Shan Yijun was yawning to himself.
When Chan Daiyu finally climbed up, she proudly smirked to herself, then she stared at her dad again before all the dishes were served.
All of her little actions were seen by Chen Feng unbeknownst to her.
Due to her small hands, Chen Daiyu could only use a spoon while all the dishes were given to her by Chen Feng. He would put dishes on her plate and she would happily eat them and stare back up at him waiting for more.
Old Man Shan watched the two, assured that his granddaughter was already brightening up their lives.
Breakfast passed by in harmony.
Before leaving, Chen Feng gave Chen Daiyu a letter and said that it was up to her to decide and told her that he wouldn’t be back for 3 days.
Chen Daiyu was in shock and a bit of panic, because she had never been apart from Chen Feng for that long ever since she was told that he was her father. She herself didn’t realize that she had been dependent on him.
Chen Feng smiled and crouched to her level, he patted her head and said “you don’t have to worry, it’s just a small trip to the biggest amusement park in City R. I will bring you some gifts, is there anything you want?”
When Chen Feng asked that, Chen Daiyu subconsciously asked herself. What do children usually want? Instead of what she wanted…
“Uhm, balloons and cotton candies…?” Chen Daiyu smiled stiffly. Chen Feng said “got it” before standing up and leaving without turning back. While Chen Daiyu stood there until Chen Feng’s Car was too far to be seen.
Shan Yijun pulled her into the house to play. When Old man Shan frowned at how inconsiderate Chen Feng was, can a 6-7 years old child read without proper education?
Before he could say anything to Chen Daiyu, Shan Yijun already pulled her to play in the garden. Old man Shan shook his head.
Forget it, he was sure that Chen Daiyu would ask them for help when she realized that she couldn’t understand it.
