Crownless: The Fallen World - Chapter 8
Hale dusted his tuxedo then fixed his parted hair. He checked his look once again before spraying his mouth with mint. Nodding to himself, he stepped out of his dorm room.
Going through the elevator down to the basement where his beloved car was parked, he smiled smugly thinking that this will truly impress his childhood sweetheart. Hale retrieved the small picture of grown up Mirabella as he slowly rubbed the photo with a small smile.
She grew to such a beauty.
The elevator dinged then he stepped out to find his black car, actually, it was Aires’ matte black convertible car. He shook his head while smiling when he saw Aires leaned against his car.
“Hey, lovely brother! What are you doing here? Is the meeting over? That’s hella fast considering that we always take 3 hours before it’s finally over.”
Aires signaled to him that he should ride at the back while he would drive. Dumbfounded, Hale just complied without hesitation. The taller male sat in the driver’s seat, buckling his seatbelt.
“What happened, brother? You never did this to me.”
“Never did what?” Aires started the engine as it roared throughout the parking lot.
“This! You never gave me a ride to a date! Tell me! What really happened?! Is there a huge ass problem or there will be another thunderstorm later? Or a meteorite will come crashing to Earth!”
Aires stepped on the gas pedal and drove to the particle portal after setting their destination on the small panel of his car. The portal was like a tunnel connecting to the other side but it was pitch black. The only light they saw was the exit, nothing more.
A mirror-like surface slowly came into view, a small village peeking through.
They got out of a cave and accelerated to the wide pathway. “Answering your question, there’s nothing of that sort. I was just in the mood to go out and see the real sky.”
Hale leaned back, clearly not convinced. “Oh…kay? Will you be there too in the date?”
“Oh. Sure, if you want me too.”
“Nah! Just go to another table. Don’t you dare interrupt me and my Mirabella!”
“Sure sure. I won’t do anything other than watching.”
“Hey! It’s like you’re a freaking stalker! Fck! Get me out of here!” Hale began to rattle the locked car door. Aires pressed a button then the door opened, slipping Hale out who firmly held the opened car door. The fast speed of the car made the now paved road like a fast moving film, made his eyes hurt and he felt dizzy.
Hale angrily closed the door before calming himself. “Fck you, bro. I was never serious! You can’t do this to me!”
“I was just being a very good best friend by complying to your wants. What’s wrong with that?”
“Fck. I don’t want you to be my chauffeur the next time I have a date.”
“We’ll see.” Aires smirked. Hale saw it at the rearview mirror and his whole body shivered.
Far in front, a huge ass mansion came into view. Hale became jittery, being too excited to finally meet Mirabella and have a date with her in a fancy restaurant with a romantic melody playing beside them. Oh oh, should he add a rose petal rain when they slow dance in the song?! Hale became giddy at the thought.
After 30 minutes, they entered a huge black gate with grim statues at the top. A green light scanned the car before the gate creak opened heavily. Aires opened the roof and let the cool air entered their nose.
A bunch of people gathered at the porch to welcome them. Aires parked in front and Hale exited the car, who gave them a wide and cheery smile. “Mother! Father! Mira… bella…” His smile faltered when he saw his childhood sweetheart holding the hand of another man. A handsome man. More handsome than him.
Aires saw the pain in Hale’s eyes. He got out of the car to pat the small of Hale’s back, whispering, “Don’t falter and remain strong.”
Hale forced himself to smile but his eyes betrayed him, it suddenly watered. His mother hugged him and he hugged back, tighter.
“Oh my. Did my Haley missed me so much that you’re crying? Such a cute baby boy~”
Hale sniffed, burying his head in his mother’s shoulder, who was a few head shorter than him.
Hale’s father tapped Aires’ back, “My boy! It’s been a while since we saw each other!”
Aires’ suppressed his desire to flinch and cursed at the touch. Laughing, he said, “10 years was ‘a while’?”
“HAHAHA!! You never changed, my boy! How about we go inside and have dinner? We also have to celebrate Mirabella’s engagement to this young business man. Aaaand can you carry or pull my son with his mother? It looks like he never had the plan to move and let go of his mother.”
“Lol. Sure, we’ll be right there.”
“Well then! Let’s go, people! Chop chop! We have to prepare everything in 20 minutes!”
Aires slowly walked towards Hale who was now bawling his eyes out while his mother continued to comfort him, whispering sweet nothings in her son’s ears.
“I’m sorry, deary. It looks like Haley don’t want to come in. Leave this little baby to me, just wait for us in the dining hall, okay?”
“I’m sorry, ma’am, but I have to do this.”
“What do you mean, dea- ah! Sebastian!” Hale’s mother screamed as Aires carried Hale, who was still latched onto his mother, in his arms. Unexpectedly, Hale now latched himself on Aires as he buried his face on the taller male’s shoulder.
Aires’ mouth gaped open while staring at the male. Hale’s mother stared at both of them with her wide eyes. She nodded towards Aires and the latter let her down. Hale wrapped his legs on Aires’ waist and arms on the latter’s neck.
“Ma’am, never misunderstand this.”
“Oh. What do you mean? Looking like a gay couple?”
“I already did. Maybe it will stay that way unless proven wrong. Anyway, now, don’t let him go. If he slid down, it will create more misunderstanding.”
Aires nodded as he put one arm around Hale’s back and the other on the latter’s butt, keeping him in his strong hold. Hale whimpered and cried more. Aires’ face turned sour. Hale’s mother giggled as she led the two into the dining hall.
“Truthfully, instead of a gay couple, I saw you both as a father carrying his baby.”
“It will be put in a wrong way if you used ‘daddy’ instead.”
“Kinky ass biscuits, deary. But I kind of like it…” Hale’s mother rubbed her forefinger on her chin, smiling knowingly while releasing strained laughs.
“In case my son turned gay for you, what will you do?”
“Knock him out and throw him into space.”
“Heh! I thought you were going to give him a potion or some fiddlesticks to turn him into a girl.”
“… never mention that again, please.”
Hale’s mother cackled as they sat on the chairs in the dining hall, maids and butlers brisked around, preparing everything.
