Gu Yin had long suspected that the union between the Lu family and the Feng family would encounter many challenges after the marriage, but she hadn’t anticipated such a humorous incident occurring immediately before the wedding, making it far livelier than expected.

Mrs. Wang smiled and expressed her concern, “Given this incident, do you think these two families will reconsider the marriage?”

Reflecting on it, Mrs. Wang imagined what she would do if she had a daughter, and if a similar situation arose just before her daughter’s wedding, she would certainly consider canceling the marriage.

Gu Yin chuckled and shook her head, “Mother, you can’t apply common sense here. The marriage between the Lu and Feng families is about more than just Lu Yuanqi and Duke Lu. Let’s see, the wedding date for these two families will be set in advance.”

Afterward, Mrs. Wang took Song Shiliu outside to continue gossiping with the others.

Gu Yin didn’t follow them and instead inquired about the whereabouts of Wu Qingyi from the others.

A servant informed her, “The General was up early, went outside to practice his martial arts, and instructed me to inform him when you wake up.”

On the final day of their stay, Gu Yin decided not to rely on the servant and sought him out herself.

Wu Qingyi had finished his martial practice, taken a shower, and changed into fresh clothes. At the moment, he was diligently grooming a horse with a brush.

The horse he was tending to wasn’t the black horse that only allowed him to approach, but the purplish-red pony he had gifted to Gu Yin.

The black horse appeared somewhat agitated, narrowing his eyes and twitching his nose as he observed the proceedings.

But Wu Qingyi paid no attention to Snow’s irritation. His actions were extremely gentle as he carefully and solemnly explained to his subordinate, “This horse is the madam’s favorite. Take good care of it, and be attentive to its condition. If anything seems amiss, be prepared. If the madam encounters any emergency…”

Gu Yin couldn’t help but smile and asked, “This horse is quite small. What could possibly go wrong?”

The little horse, Ma Zhen, was a bit taller than an ordinary chair and could easily be mounted even by a child. Given Gu Yin’s stature as an adult woman, even if she were to fall from the horse, it wouldn’t result in a serious injury.

Wu Qingyi’s seriousness made Gu Yin feel as though she was being cared for by a gentle soul, and her heart couldn’t help but soften for a moment.

Wu Qingyi turned to look at her, handed the brush to Manu, and washed his hands before approaching her.

“I want to take you to a special place today,” he said.

Wu Qingyi loosened the reins of Snow, mounted the horse first, and then extended his hand to assist Gu Yin.

Naturally, Gu Yin extended her hand, and he pulled her forward, helping her onto the horse.

Wu Qingyi urged the horse forward, and they quickly left the camp behind. The morning breeze caressed their faces, and the picturesque scenery of flowers and willows along the way passed swiftly. Despite the horse’s movements, the journey was relatively smooth, and Gu Yin felt her heart rate slowing down, almost lulling her to sleep once more.

A quarter of an hour later, Wu Qingyi whispered in her ear, “We’ve arrived.”

Gu Yin opened her eyes and beheld a magnificent sight—a vast expanse of wildflowers covering the hills and plains, all the same wildflowers that Wu Qingyi had presented to her before. They were now gathered in one place, swaying gently in the breeze, radiating vibrant colors.

Wu Qingyi dismounted first and extended his hand to assist Gu Yin.

She was carefully helped off the horse and looked around in awe at the wildflowers that blanketed the hill. Typically, wildflowers grew individually, along roadsides or in fields, rarely forming such an enchanting display.

The wildflowers emitted a fragrant scent, and the air was filled with colorful butterflies flitting about. Gu Yin squatted down and touched the various blossoms. She noticed that the soil around the wildflowers’ roots was freshly turned, with traces of tools buried in some spots.

In other words, these wildflowers hadn’t naturally grown together there; they had been painstakingly transplanted one by one.

The scene left her at a loss for words.
