Aria's Tales - 1.13
Even though Xiao Xi felt a headache coming, she knew that this was also a good chance to find out the public’s reaction to Mingyan being in a relationship. At the very least, when Mingyan and Shen Yan actually announce their relationship then there will be lesser glass hearts to break.
Mingyan was getting busy. She had numerous requests on variety shows, and she had a tour that just came up. Her music video had also been released so it added to the hype. And though she had been utterly reluctant to leave Shen Yan’s side, she had to move from one country to another for her tour with her album. Right now, she was in Las Vegas.
Mingyan wasn’t the only one unwilling to part. Shen Yan had sleepless nights before Mingyan’s flight. The two looked like they were parting for eternity as they hugged each other for a very long time at the airport. If it wasn’t for the fact that Mingyan was riding a private plane, she would’ve long missed her flight.
Shen Yan would have loved to come even if it cost him to come back to a mountain pile of work. But he had a more pressing matter to attend to. It was his proposal and wedding preparation. Yes, Shen Yan would probably be the only guy who would propose and not consider that the person being proposed might say no – already preparing for the wedding without getting the official reply.
Only after they promised each other to call every after they woke up and before going to bed, did they finally parted.
Thus, began Mingyan’s quest to conquer the international music industry, while her future self-proclaimed husband was taking care of their wedding.
Mingyan had toured through all of Asia in just four months and was now set off to tour the eastern side of the world. And while she was touring, she was making new songs left and right, sometimes causing her concert to change the line of the songs according to the popularity.
She was currently sitting near a floor-to-ceiling window while holding a pen on one hand and on the other was milk. The paper on the table was blank, mirroring her expression. She only had a bathrobe on as she was alone.
Lily was playing with the flowers on a vase when she noticed her master’s depressed mood.
“Mingyan~ What’s wrong?” She hopped towards the blank paper and sat on it, looking up to her master’s dazed look.
“I miss him.”
Lily immediately fell, and her head plopped on the table. “You guys just literally talked for an hour ten minutes ago~ “
“Mn,” Mingyan nodded solemnly. “But I still miss him.” She said as a matter-of-fact.
Lily was speechless. What can she say to her love-deprived master? This was far from her expertise okay?
“What do you want to do? The second wish is almost done anyways~” Lily went back to playing with her flowers, no longer bothered to care about the tooth-aching couple.
That was exactly what got Mingyan into a depressed state. She was thinking of ways to speed up the completion of the wish but what she was doing was exactly like it. Still, she was greedy. She couldn’t wait one more day to snuggle in Shen Yan’s arms.
Mingyan wracked her brain. Finally, the next day, she told Xiao Xi her plan. And the poor manager almost had her eyes pop out of their sockets. “I’ll go arrange it right away~!!!” She screamed while running to the elevator.
Mingyan’s plan actually sounded simple. Do a last special concert in the biggest hall they could rent and let an international television channel to broadcast it live. Yes, it sounded simple. But making it happen was another thing.
Thankfully, Mingyan’s father came to the rescue. With his special connection, he booked one of the popular international television channels to broadcast her daughter’s concert. All that so that he could get a kiss on the cheek. You heard it. He asked for a peck on the cheek. Even Aunty Chang had to slap her husband’s back in exasperation.
That popular channel immediately announced on their web page that there was going to be a live broadcast of Mingyan’s concert two days later. They hadn’t actually made it difficult for Uncle Gu, because Mingyan’s fame was seriously spreading to all corners of the globe. They were happy enough to ride on her coattails.
Their announcement sparked the excitement of the eastern part of the world. Everyone waited until the day of the broadcast and immediately had friends or families over to watch it together.
There were even some towns who made it so that the day of the broadcast, there would be no school.
Meanwhile, in Mingyan’s house, Shen Yan was browsing through Mingyan’s Weibo to hopefully cure even a little bit of his loneliness. He stopped when Mingyan’s music video caught his eyes. He played it while he held his head with his palms.
His attention was fully focused on the video. The other actors on the music video had their faces out of the camera or blurred while only Mingyan’s face was clear. It made it even more sentimental like he was watching through her memories. Shen Yan’s brows were furrowed. The longer he watched, the messier his thoughts. Everything, after the Mingyan in the music video transmigrated, seemed to parallel with the events that happened when his Yanyan was shot.
He immediately replayed the intro over and over again. It was the scene where Mingyan was floating in the galaxy. He paused it when the camera zoomed on her face.
Mingyan looked dull as if her emotions were sapped out, leaving her like an empty shell.
Shen Yan’s heart was shaken. He had never seen Mingyan look so forlorn. What did this mean?
Mingyan finally accomplished the second wish, and with renowned vigour, she hopped into a private jet plane back to China. She badly wanted her four months worth of hug.
After only about 5 hours, she had reached China’s international airport. She had just taken a step into the building when she immediately dragged Xiao Xi to take her home at the fastest speed. Her fans who had seen her hadn’t even taken the time to register into their brain that she was back when she had long left the airport.
Mingyan was giddy. She wondered what he would look like when he sees that she’s finally back home. She never thought that being away for four months could feel like she had been apart from him for four centuries instead. If it weren’t for their on-time calls towards each other, Mingyan almost believed her time with Shen Yan was nothing but a dream.
She ran to the front door of her house, fixed her hair and outfit first, before pressing on the doorbell. It was already 7:00 in the evening. She hoped that Shen Yan was at home and not out working.
“Yanyan?” There was a surprised voice behind her. Mingyan abruptly turned around.
Shen Yan had just arrived from a business meeting when he saw a familiar slhoutte standing in the front door. He was so shocked that he couldn’t believe she was real.
Mingyan had a similar surprised expression. Then she broke down into tears as she jumped into his arms. “Yan ge! I miss you!”
Shen Yan caught the flying girl and held her closely. Only when he tightened his embrace to the point that the girl complained she couldn’t breathe did he finally believed she was real. The empty part of his heart found it’s missing puzzle pieces and no longer felt as stuffy as before.
He kissed Mingyan’s tears away. “Have you had dinner? Why are you only wearing a thin jacket? It’s already November, and it’s getting cold.” He then proceeded to take off his jacket and wrapped it around Mingyan, then pulling her to enter the house.
“I haven’t. I just arrived from Las Vegas, and it was warm there.” Mingyan answered while finally feeling healed after only a few seconds into the hug. She hadn’t actually noticed the thin layer of snow and the cold. “Has Yan ge had his dinner, yet?”
“Mn, rest in here for now. I’ll get you something to eat.” Shen Yan brought Mingyan to the living room and led her to the sofa. After making sure she was going to be obedient and rest, he strode to the kitchen and looked for ingredients for a light meal.
When he came back thirty minutes later, he was holding a tray with a bowl of porridge and chicken strips. He gently placed them on the table and pulled the drowsy Mingyan closer. “Come eat first then rest later. Don’t leave your stomach empty before sleeping.”
Mingyan woke up from her daze and nodded. She was going to start eating when she felt the cold air attack her hands after it left the warmth of the jacket. She turned to Shen Yan looking aggrieved.
Shen Yan chuckled. Then he took the spoon and started to feed her.
It gave him a flashback to the hospital when Mingyan had looked more pitiful than the current her. She was pale with red eyes, possibly from lack of sleep or from continuous crying, and she had looked at him like he was her saviour when they finally reunited. His heart ached.
He wanted to know what secrets Mingyan was bearing by herself. The music video had really scared him silly. His heart couldn’t take Mingyan’s lonely figure as she motionlessly floated in space. She looked like she was about to disappear. And that terrified him.
Shen Yan fed Mingyan carefully, blowing off the steam and making sure it was at the right temperature, before pushing the spoon to Mingyan’s lips. At that moment, he wished time would stop.
As long as she was here by his side, he was fine to be kept in the dark from Mingyan’s secrets. He just didn’t want to lose her that’s all.
Mingyan looked like a lazy cat after getting her fill. She took out her arms from the jacket despite the cold and encircled them around Shen Yan’s waist. “I missed you so much.”
Shen Yan’s heart melted. “I missed you more.” He patted the girl’s hair and saw her purred, scratching at his already weakened heart. He really hated the idea of losing her.
“Yanyan, I was going to make this grander but -” Shen Yan pulled Mingyan, along with the jacket, into his lap. He held the dazed Mingyan’s face and made her face him. “I can’t wait for even a minute.” Then he rustled through the jacket’s pocket and took out a small red box.
Mingyan’s drowsiness was immediately thrown away when she found a red box in her vision. The indication of that small box could definitely only mean one thing. She blinked her bewildered eyes and moved her gaze from the box to Shen Yan, then back to the box again. Was this what she thinks it is?
Shen Yan gave her cheeks a kiss first before he carefully opened the box. Inside, was a silver ring inlaid with small diamonds. They sparkled as the light hit them.
Mingyan had heard his words about his original idea of a grander proposal, but she found herself favouring this situation instead. It was just the two of them. After being separated for too long, Mingyan had finally found her way back to where her heart was most secure, and where her emotions were stable.
She had not expected this surprise. Tears dropped on her cheek one by one before she burst out crying. She hugged him while she buried her head on his neck. Her entire being was shaking.
“Yanyan?” Shen Yan was startled by her outburst. His hand subconsciously started patting her head while he continued to say, “shh, don’t cry,” before his brain had thought of it.
Mingyan cried for a full two minutes and only calmed down after Shen Yan’s efforts. She looked up with her red eyes and was about to say her answer when she remembered. “Say it. You haven’t even asked me yet~” She pouted and murmured.
Shen Yan was startled. His hand that was wiping Mingyan’s tears froze.
“Gu Mingyan. Will you marry me?” He said with a deep voice.
The effect of having her full name called was too wonderful. Mingyan’s face turned into a deep shade of red.
“Yes.”
