Aria's Tales - 1.12
Mingyan wanted the music video for “I’m falling in love” to be based on her real-life story. So she worked on the script along with the director and scriptwriter. At first, they were hesitant. But after listening to her ideas of her “imaginary character” – at least that’s what she told them, they were extremely enthusiastic.
This “imaginary character” was a soul who has been travelling the universe for millennia. Her experiences with all kinds of emotions had long made her numb, but she actually found her true love in a simple world. The director and scriptwriter had no idea that this “imaginary character” was actually talking to them to them right now.
Mingyan was very pleased. That night she snuggled in Shen Yan’s embrace and sang “I’m falling in love” while playing with his shirt. She was giddy.
Shen Yan could feel his control being tortured once again. Even if after a long time, he still hadn’t gotten used to it. He stopped the girl’s naughty hands and raised her chin up. “Are doing you doing it on purpose?” A flash of lust passed in his eyes.
Mingyan noticed it even when he tried to hide it. Her heart skipped a beat though on the outside she tilted her head, looking unsure about what he meant.
Shen Yan was in a dilemma. His Yanyan was getting bolder and bolder every day and the worst part of it was the fact that she doesn’t seem to understand how suggestive her actions were. He worried that his control in the future won’t be enough to hold him back. For now, he was not worried because he promised himself he would take her in their honeymoon instead. Despite Mingyan’s unintentional teasing, he could still prevail.
But after they marry …
Shen Yan gave Mingyan’s lips a peck before sighing. “Nothing. Your concert is this Saturday, right? I’ll be watching you from the front row so if you’re nervous you can find me easily.”
Mingyan was a bit disappointed she only got a peck. But her attention was diverted when he mentioned her concert. Her heart suddenly felt mischievous. She gave a bright smile and her eyes also curved. Then she said, “I’ll definitely look for Yan ge! Because my finale is for you!”
Shen Yan was not prepared for this pleasant surprise. He lowered his head to Mingyan’s shoulders feeling defeated while his heartbeat was ringing in his ears. The attack was too sweet.
Mingyan understood that he was holding back and was impressed that he could still take the attack without losing control. She didn’t know that his impressive control was only temporary.
Saturday came by quickly.
The concert had long been announced a week after her album’s existence was known. The hype also helped her concert greatly and it sold out after just a few days. Her life for a week was spent preparing for the concert all day, and it was only at night could she relax in Shen Yan’s embrace – who had also given up in making her sleep in her own room.
At the same time, the concert was being filmed live and was streaming exclusively in Mingyan’s private fan club webpage. The Brilliant Stars had really spoiled her this time. Mingyan knew and accepted it gratefully. In return, she’ll make sure her audience will go crazy enough to make them obsessed with her songs. Since her album was set to go out as soon as her concert ended, they decided to set up the merchandise during the concert outside the grand hall. This way, while the audience was at their heightened excitement, they can buy right away.
The show was about to begin. Mingyan stood in a circular platform while she waited. She was wearing a black cropped tube top, black leather pants, and silver heeled boots. The scar she had because of the gun wound was no longer there. Her hazel hair was tied into a high ponytail. She looked cute and spicy in her rock style outfit.
Shen Yan did not know about her outfits. Mingyan had only asked her stylist to not make her wear any shorts. Since that was so, the stylist made her wear sleeveless shirts instead when she was going to sing her aggressive and lively songs. Shen Yan … well, he wouldn’t be able to stop Yanyan’s precious concert so he’ll just have to take things bitterly.
The concert was going to consist of the 12 songs in her album. All 12 songs were of different genre and theme, and most of them were a mix of Chinese and English. She wanted to use this opportunity to step into the international music community. This was the original soul’s wish after all.
There was a loud chant of the countdown above her head. Mingyan shook her hands for a bit and adjusted her emotions. The first song was all about betrayal, and it was rock. It was drastically different from all the tear-jerking songs that she had been singing.
Then she felt the platform below her move, and the ceiling above her opened. There was a deafening scream as she emerged on the stage. The people who came to her concert were mostly fans of “My Identity,” while the rest were music enthusiasts who were curious about this new popular artist.
After a moment of their screams and waving of their banners, which I must add that they seemed to have unanimously decided to write “Ming❤Yan” in large font causing Mingyan’s heart to beat like crazy, the lights dimmed.
“Here we go!” Mingyan shouted in English.
A guitar solo, along with Mingyan’s raspy high note scream that sounded androgynous, officially started the concert.
That perfect high note scream had stunned the audience. They had not expected for their goddess to have such a cool and spicy side. Some girls actually had red faces as they stared for a long time. That androgynous voice had struck their hearts like cupid arrows. Then, when one person screamed, the others followed.
“Kyaaaaa!!! I must be dreaming! My ears must be pregnant!!”
“Mingyan! Mingyan! Mingyan!”
“Ahhh I wanna hear that intro again!!”
“Shit! Who cares about filming this! They said they were uploading this right?!”
Mingyan’s first song was aggressive and had a lot of raspy tones. She had controlled her voice to make an androgynous sound because her directed audience were both genders. It was a song about getting betrayed by their lover. She did not expect that the result of her casual change of voice would bring out such an effect. Everyone, especially the front row, had already gotten caught into her pace, slowly descending into madness.
Mingyan jumped here and there, flipped her hair back and forth, and screamed high notes and whispered low notes. This first song was already so difficult, yet she had not broken a sweat yet.
The intro song finally ended and the audience suddenly felt lost. They really wanted more.
Fortunately, Mingyan did not even take a break and started her second song. This time it was a mixture of rock and pop. Since the second song was all about the silliness of friendship, the song was very lively.
The crazy audience was slightly tamed by this song and looked like they were at a party instead. And the chorus was very catchy, so by the second time Mingyan sang the chorus some people had already sung together with her.
When the second song ended, they had thought that Mingyan would take a break, to their utter surprise, she simply sat down on the stairs leading to the audiences and started to sing an English ballad song. At least they could physically relax, but emotionally they weren’t!! They actually forgot that their goddess is especially good in tear-jerking songs!
Mingyan was not tired, on the contrary, she still had lots of energy to spare. But she had to take care of her audience too, so she could only cool them down with a song about family issues which were a mixture of ballad and rap.
Mingyan sang while she scanned the front row. She immediately found who she was searching for, and her eyes narrowed as she smiled, before quickly turning away. She almost missed a note.
It was because Shen Yan contrasted greatly to the screaming people around him – she almost couldn’t resist laughing. While the others were screaming, he was listening calmly. Yet, his eyes were full of love as he fixed his gaze at Mingyan.
Shen Yan, who received that brief lovely smile, hid his curving mouth with his hand. His anger towards her outfit was totally washed away.
Who knew who started it, but after one light lit up, the rest followed. They raised the light sticks over their heads and waved them left and right, following the song’s rhythm. A small galaxy was made in the grand hall.
Mingyan literally made them experience a roller coaster of emotions. And by the end of the concert, they were already brainwashed. Then, it was time for the finale.
Mingyan ran to the backstage and quickly dressed up. She even refused for a full-on touch-up and immediately went back on the stage. When she came back, she had changed into a high neck and sleeveless sky blue dress.
She went to the center of the stage and sat on an emerging circular platform. While the finale song’s intro was being played in the background, she was raised up to about 10 feet high while below her, smoke filled the stage.
The song was none other than “I’m falling in love,” and this time she sang the song with the proper accompaniment, bringing the original impact that she wanted. It wasn’t supposed to be a tear-jerking song. The impact last time was only the result of the fact that she only used a guitar. This song was to the person who had made her heart beat again after having gone numb for thousands of years.
But then again, some of the audience still cried. While some of the smarter ones felt that this song was connected to their goddess’ “secret lover.” Their hearts shattered. Because, no matter if it was real or not. The truth was, their goddess was definitely in love!!!
Mingyan’s first concert ended successfully, and the business strategy regarding the merchandise was perfect – it was sold out. Whether it was on the internet or out in the real world, the people who personally experienced the concert were buzzing their thoughts to almost every single person they met.
Mingyan had also officially set off her footprint on the international music industry after her concert was uploaded on Brilliant Stars Weibo, and with the help of her fans and Xiao Xi’s connections, they were able to translate the concert into 20 languages already.
Her rapidly increasing fame had been dubbed the “Mingyan Frenzy” after people noticed that whoever went to her concert would usually, if not always, looked like they were injected with chicken blood.
The rumours about her “secret lover,” as well, were passed on to her new fans, courtesy of the old fans, to get them to stop from thinking any more unnecessary thoughts. Mingyan didn’t know if she should laugh or cry at her amusing fans. Since they, themselves, had started it, she decided she might as well confirm the rumours indirectly.
She would never admit that she was just doing it for fun and to purposefully stir up trouble.
One day, old and new fans alike who were loyal enough to check Mingyan’s daily posts every day, saw one post that literally shattered a million glass hearts.
Ming ❤Yan: “We both have “Yan” on our names // picture”
And in the picture, she was poking Shen Yan’s hands. The contrast between Mingyan’s and Shen Yan’s hand was too obvious. One was definitely feminine while the other masculine! And what did she just say?
They both have “Yan” in their names?! Then her Weibo name…
Xiao Xi almost fell from nothing when she saw this post. Why was her artist indifferent in the public but was so naughty on private? Is she really just naive or is she doing this deliberately?! Please send help.
