After rebirth I became spoiled - chapter 42
Su Meng roughly told him the matter in a few words, and then choked up, “Uncle, do you know how to give first aid?” Ling Yucheng’s female friend immediately stood up and said, “I am studying nursing and know some first aid, I will look at him!”
A ray of hope floated in Su Meng’s eyes, and she was very grateful, “Thank you! Then please!”
Ling Yucheng handed Su Meng a pack of tissues at this time, “Wipe away the tears first.”
Su Meng realized that she had burst into tears. She embarrassedly took the tissue from Ling Yucheng. But Jiang Tingzhou’s hands were full of blood stains at that time. He put his dirty hands behind him, looked at Su Meng and said in a tone as soft as possible, “Kid, don’t cry.”
She cried so poorly that his heart was softened. Su Meng didn’t have any thoughts of joking with Jiang Tingzhou. She gave him a vicious look with misty tears, and turned her back to ignore him. After a while, the ambulance finally arrived and took the patient to the hospital. As she wasn’t at ease, Su Meng also went to the hospital with them.
The patient was sent to the emergency room. Jiang Tingzhou was just about to wash his hands and clean the blood stains on his hands. Ling Yucheng glanced at him and said, “The patient is being rescued, why don’t we talk about it first?”
Jiang Tingzhou glanced at Su Meng, then said, “Okay.”
The two reached a place where there was no one around. Ling Yucheng’s eyes fell on Jiang Tingzhou, “Do you know that you almost caused a disaster? You were too impulsive just now. You should act calm.”
Jiang Tingzhou glanced at him, curled his lips and smiled coldly, “Because you don’t care, you can be calm and rational. But I can’t be calm.”
Ling Yucheng’s expression remained unchanged. In fact, but what he said was correct. There weren’t many things in this world that he could care about. His parents’ affairs were one thing, and his scientific research was considered to be the most important one. As for Su Meng, she was indeed not in the category of things that he cared about.
He could maintain his gentlemanly demeanor anytime and anywhere, and treat others well because of the education he had received since childhood. But he wouldn’t dig his heart out to someone for no reason. He didn’t have much contact with Su Meng. After he returned home, it was the second time he and Su Meng met. The first time they met in the video call wherein the two greeted each other roughly.
He only remembered her name. As for the other things, he didn’t care about them either. He had too many things to keep in mind, and scientific research had occupied most of his day. He really had no time to take care of a child that his parents had just adopted.
He bought her out for a meal as he was entrusted by his mother. He didn’t expect that the first time he brought her out to meet a friend for dinner, she would be in trouble. Ling Yucheng pondered for two seconds, and said, “I can understand you, but I don’t agree with what you did. Maybe you did get angry and did it on impulse, but have you ever thought that there might be endless troubles after this? I know that your intention was to protect her, but your impulsive protection may end up hurting her.”
Jiang Tingzhou gave a nonchalant sneer. He casually leaned against the white wall of the corridor, with his arms folded and his eyes were full of indifference at that moment, “I, Jiang, do everything by myself. I take responsibility for what I do. She would never be implicated or get hurt with what happened today.”
Ling Yucheng frowned. He brought Su Meng out. If something happened to her, he wouldn’t only have to be responsible, but his parents would also scold him. Jiang Tingzhou helped protect Su Meng, and so he owed him. He didn’t like to owe favors. He wanted to pay back what he owed others on the spot. Ling Yucheng sighed, and continued, “If that person was really beaten to death by you and you had suffered a lawsuit because of that, what do you think will happen to Su Meng? Won’t it become a burden to her? Won’t she blame herself? Won’t she fall into pain? Won’t it… affect the trajectory of her life?”
Hearing those words, Jiang Tingzhou recalled the tears that Su Meng had and how hard she held him when she stopped him. Thinking of all that, his eyes darkened a bit.
“Speaking further, you want to protect her, but when you enter the prison, who will protect her? I have my parents, academic career, and my own responsibilities, so even if she calls me Uncle, I can tell you that I won’t do what you just did, nor would my parents.”
Jiang Tingzhou understood what Ling Yucheng was saying, and he gave him a blank expression. Ling Yucheng waved his hand casually, “You don’t have to look at me like that. I’m just telling the truth.

I love how realistic this is instead of making him suddenly treat her with over-indulgence . It’s just the same as if you heard some strangers accident/death . Yes , we would be sorry n maybe sad but we wouldn’t go all the way crying for months or keep thinking about their accident . That was the same as him .
