A Cynical Principle - Episode 1.1.2
Episode 1: Watchdog of the Dark City (Part 1.2)
Univale turned his heels away and with the lightness of his body, he overcame the sea of books and stood before Partita in an instant.
“The sender must have been Cesar de Rothschild.”
Univale, who looked towards to the day after tomorrow with a gloomy but noble face and graceful manner, presented that of a first-class marriage swindler.
He revealed a cynical smile as he looked meaningfully towards Partita, “He’s a good man. He has a good face, character, and spirit. The downside is that he’s a bit blind, a little decisive, but he’s of the same kind as me.”
While criticizing himself, Univale picked up the letter from the silver tray and he looked through it quickly, “They’re going to visit us tonight. The evening bell is ringing, so it should be soon. Partita, please prepare some tea.”
But Partita only heard a part of it.
What did the Lord said? Did he just say, ‘the same kind as me’? Is that…
“In other words, Lord Rothschild is…”
Before Partita could continue her words, Univale pressed his forefinger against her thin lips. Instead, he let her make her own conclusions.
A whisper like, sweet sounding tenor voice came out of his lips, “In other words, that man is the same as me who already died once… a vampire.”
A faint smile leaked from his mouth as he said further in her ear, “Is there anything wrong, Partita?”
“No,” she cut off her words and looked at the Lord’s glittering red eyes.
He said with a mild expression, “If I don’t get the extra money to take a vampire with me, I’m just worried that I might fall due to overwork tomorrow.”
On the other hand, the Lord laughed with a soft gaze that had captivated many daughters and women. His voice was gentle and his words were just as proud, “Don’t worry. Fortunately, I know a lot of good doctors.”
◇ ◆ ◇
For sure, the man must have been a gentleman adored by anyone. There were countless women who hollowed their hearts specifically for him. In addition, the man had the position of Count. There were countless numbers of parents planning for their daughters to get married.
It must’ve been a long time ago, before life.
“Univale is here.”
In the middle of the night, a two-wheeled carriage from the Black Forest stopped before the back of the mansion. Partita bowed quite clerical then guide the man that came out of the carriage.
Lord Cesar de Rothschild.
Strands of scarlet and gray hair fell to his shoulder, and the rest were carelessly tied behind. The reason he did those kinds of liberties was probably because his time stopped as he was a young man, both mentally and physically.
He was as tall as Univale, handsome and owned charming face. There were genuine sapphires and diamonds decorated the chest ornament of his black coat. The fabric was a luxury good that could not be obtained if you did not go to a certain extent in the city.
He was a perfect man, if only he wasn’t a vampire.
“I’ve been waiting for you, Lord Rothschild.”
