At the flag-raising ceremony a few weeks later, the principal announced the best hygiene and the class with the ‘civilized class’ award. The health committee members of that class took the stage to receive the awards as representatives. He Yu heard his classmates whisper around.

“Hey, look at the stage. There’s a girl who looks like she came from a ghost story.”

“Which one?”

“Her nickname is Sadako.”

“Puff, she is so ugly. You are well informed. You know all the news about the freshman year.”

“My sister is in their class, that girl is really amazing.”

“Our school does not stipulate us to wear a school uniform, but isn’t it too exaggerating to wear a princess dress to class?”

He Yu, who was wandering, looked towards the stage because of the keywords they mentioned.

Princess dress… It really was Jiang Mingzhen. Even standing in the last row of the class, He Yu found her at the first sight. Pink princess dress with a denim jacket. The two pillar-shaped white legs were exposed, and a pair of tight leather shoes were on her feet. The quirky gorgeousness made her most eye-catching among the crowd.

Ordinary students tried their best to keep themselves clean and tidy, but she was the only one who dressed herself up as a big holiday cake. There were thousands of eyes watching in the audience, and the student representatives of the award-winning class held the awards in a low-key manner, trying to stand back as far as possible to reduce their sense of existence. Jiang Mingzhen did exactly the opposite. She took the award and happily held it in front of her chest with both hands to show it to everyone. In the first row where no one stood, she stood in the middle and occupied two big positions.

“Fang Jianjie.” He called his classmate..

“Ah, He Yu? What’s wrong?”

He asked him bluntly, “You told me that she is in Class 4 of Grade 1?”

“The one in the princess dress?” He asked. He Yu nodded. Fang Jianjie felt strange that He Yu cared about gossip, but he blankly said, “Yes, she is in the same class as my sister, nicknamed Sadako, ugly hahaha.”

“Why do they call her Sadako?” 

How could Fang Jianjie know it clearly? So he just guessed, “Probably because she is as ugly as a ghost?”

She turned out to be a freshman in high school. No wonder he didn’t find her on the list. In terms of age, she should have been in the same grade as him. Why did she repeat two years? At first, He Yu didn’t realize that he wanted to talk to Jiang Mingzhen. On Friday, he routinely went to the art club to draw. He glanced at the clock in the classroom, and when it was time, he began to prepare to pack his drawing tools.

“Why are you leaving early?” His friend asked He Yu.

“Yes,” Another person said, “You usually leave forty-five minutes late but for the past few days you are leaving fifteen minutes early, what’s wrong?”

He Yu was shocked for a moment. He thought that he just wanted to leave earlier. Well, he actually knew why he wanted to leave early. The timetable for third years of high school was different from that of the first years. After a short sigh, He Yu sat down again, “I will draw for a while.”

“Don’t,” his friend felt that he said too much, “We just asked you casually, we didn’t mean anything by that.”

His eyes focused on the drawing paper, and the emotions in the young boy’s beautiful eyes were indifferent.

“Nothing. There is nothing important.”  

He hadn’t met Jiang Mingzhen in the past few days when he left early. Besides, she didn’t remember him anymore, or did she? Which class she was in, why was she in her freshman year, and how she got that nickname..It obviously had nothing to do with him.
