To make He Yu regret - chapter 32
Grandma’s story was very slow. In the past few days, Niuniu heard her grandma talk about the time when she was six years old. But the delay of the story had something to do with Niuniu’s tendency to interrupt. When grandma said that she was ugly when she was a child, Niuniu looked at her grandma’s face and said very seriously, “He Yu is too much, grandma is not like a ghost.”
The marker given by He Yu’s father was broken by Jiang Mingzhen. Niuniu cried over that section. She lay on her grandma’s lap, wiped her tears with a tissue, and then blew her nose. She whispered, “He Yu is so pitiful. Grandma, you did wrong.”
After grandma finished talking about Jiang’s ribbon-cutting ceremony, Niuniu excitedly knew the spoiler of the story. “I know, you became a chef later, a chef in a big hotel! Grandma’s cooking is the best in the world, Niuniu loves to eat it!”
Grandma squeezed the little girl’s beloved face and asked her,”Is Niuniu hungry? Do you want me to cook for you?”
Of course Niuniu said yes. After lunch, the little girl couldn’t wait to hear the next story.
“Grandma, how do you want He Yu to regret it? Did he regret it later?” Grandma smiled and said to her, “I’ll tell you a story when I get free. It’s time for your grandpa to eat.”
Grandpa had to be fed bit by bit. Half of his body doesn’t move and it was difficult to eat by himself. Niuniu answered, “Oh.”
Usually, she would run out to play by herself when grandpa was eating, but that day it was different. She moved the bamboo chair on the balcony to grandpa’s room. Niuniu, who was curious about grandpa, sat in the corner of the room, hugged the back of the chair, and observed how grandma fed him. A special cushion was placed behind grandpa, raising him. As she feared that the soup would accidentally spill out, grandma prepared a bib for grandpa.
The bib was sky blue and the fabric looked very soft. The clothes and trousers on her grandpa were all dark colors, which matched grandpa’s unsmiling face. The bib surrounding him instantly destroyed the seriousness and turned grandpa into a baby. Niuniu looked at the bib, and grandpa looked at Niuniu. Following his granddaughter’s novel look, he looked down at the small bib on his chest. Now grandpa was unwilling to tie a bib.
“I won’t spill.” Shaking his body, grandpa didn’t cooperate with grandma’s movements.
“You have to wear it every day.” Grandma clenched her pocket, neatly tied a bow on the back of his neck, and fixed the bib. Grandpa’s mouth became a little flat and convex. He was pouting, and expressed his shyness. Grandma knew him best, she asked, as she looked at the little granddaughter sitting with them. “Why, ashamed? Afraid to let Niuniu see you like this?”
Grandpa didn’t answer her. After putting the bib around, the grandpa became an old child. He was getting angry. “Niu Niu won’t laugh at you.” Niuniu hurriedly said as per grandma’s words and nodded to her grandpa. The bib was the first step in preparing for a meal. Grandma was busy. She spread out the small table to eat on the bed, took out food from the rice cooker, and then placed it on the small table. Holding an empty bowl in her left hand and a spoon in her right, grandma scooped up a spoonful of porridge, blew it carefully, and then fed it to grandpa.
He didn’t open his mouth wide, but grandma’s technique was good. She put the spoon into his mouth, matched the curvature of his grandpa’s mouth, and fed in one mouthful of rice. The softly stewed yellow croaker fish was deboned in advance by grandma. She was still worried about the thorns. Before giving it to grandpa, she would check it again and dip the fish in soy sauce. Niuniu stared at the whole thing the whole time. The old child ate a small bowl of rice on pins and needles, and began to lose cooperation.
“It’s enough.” He told grandma.
Grandma was confused, “Not delicious?”
“I am full.” She reached out and touched his belly, flat.
“Just a few bites, how can you be full?”
“I’ll eat it myself.” Grandpa raised his movable hand, and tried to put the bowl of rice into his arm.
“How convenient was that?” Grandma snatched the bowl from his hand.
“You are not allowed to eat by yourself,” her tone was fierce, her voice loud as a roar, but she was coaxing him, “I am happy to feed you! If you don’t let me feed, I will be angry!”
Taking a spoonful of rice, she told grandpa to open her mouth, “Ah—”
Grandpa had to follow her, “Ah—”
“Very good,” she patted his head, “At least half a bowl of rice must be finished, and I will cut the fruit for you to eat.”
“Grandma.” Reminiscing about the story she told earlier, the little granddaughter suddenly asked, “Is it difficult to feed Jiang Mingzhen when she was a child, or to feed grandpa?”
“Puff,” Grandma smiled, and looked at grandpa, “I have to think about it.
