The Daily Life Of Mei Furen Doting On Her Husband - Chapter 56
Mei Zhuyu fetched some water and wrung out a cloth, but instead of washing himself, he handed it to her and combed her hair for her. She had just messed up her bun by herself, so Mei Zhuyu carefully untangled the tangled bun for her and let her hair down.
Wu Zhen accepted it with a smile, wiped the things off her face, covered her face with a warm cloth, and leaned back into Mei Zhuyu’s arms. She tilted her ear and suddenly laughed, “My dear, your heart is beating too fast.”
Her voice was muffled under the cloth, making it sound vague. If she could lift the cloth at that moment, she would see that her thin-skinned lover’s face was not only embarrassed but also filled with obsession and desire. Mei Zhuyu didn’t say anything. He slowly lowered his head, leaned his face into Wu Zhen’s loose hair, and gently brushed her cheek with the tip of his nose and lips.
Suddenly, he raised his hands and picked up Wu Zhen from the low table. The cloth on Wu Zhen’s face fell off, but she didn’t care. She just put her arms around Mei Zhuyu’s neck and leaned close to him to give him a kiss that lasted only a short while.
“Go to my room?” She asked in a soft voice.
“Okay,” Mei Zhuyu replied, his voice hoarse.
Wu Zhen’s bed was placed by the south-facing window as she wished. The window was wide open, and she could see the peony garden in the backyard. Wu Zhen liked to be lively, so all kinds of peonies were blooming in her garden. They looked bright and dazzling during the day, but were covered with a layer of hazy light at night, making them particularly dreamy.
The reason for that big window was because Wu Zhen loved to lie on that bed and look at the flowers. There was another person lying on the bed with her, but neither of them had the heart to appreciate the flowers.
The faint fragrance blew into the room with the gentle wind, making them feel intoxicated. Mei Zhuyu held Wu Zhen’s hand and pressed it against his cheek. The two looked at each other from top to bottom, with the same color in their eyes. It was hard to tell who took the initiative, but when the two of them were close together, it just felt like it was meant to be that way.
When Mei Zhuyu was a teenager, his fellow apprentices said that he did not have the uncontrollable passion and impulse that other teenagers had. His master also said that he was pure-hearted and had few desires, and was born to practice Taoism.
Mei Zhuyu had always felt this way until he came to Chang’an City and saw Wu Zhen. He then realized that he was no different from other men. He also could not control himself and would worry about his own thoughts.
People who practiced Taoism seldom married, and they were encouraged to cultivate themselves and have few desires. In the past, Mei Zhuyu had no expectations for such matters between men and women, and even after he came down the mountain and returned to the secular world, he strictly followed the teachings of the temple. However, it was only then that he came to know what it was like to be infatuated.
He just wanted to scoop up this handful of soft, flowing water and let it flow into his body to calm the raging fire.
Wu Zhen finally got a chance to catch her breath and put her palm on her husband’s chest, wondering why her young husband, who looked thin, had such great strength that even a Cat Lord like her could not bear it. She couldn’t help but pinch her young husband’s arm, wondering where the strength came from.
Mei Zhuyu breathed in and held her hand. Feeling his face buried in her neck, Wu Zhen reached out, hugged his head, and hooked a strand of hair.
“My dear.”
“Mm.”
“My waist may have been bruised by you.”
Mei Zhuyu sat up to look at her waist, but from his high position, he could only see her lying on the messy bed, smiling broadly without any covering. Mei Zhuyu silently pulled the thin blanket over her and covered her.Â
Wu Zhen turned over and hid her smile in his arms. After a while, she found that there was an extra pair of hands on her waist. Although it was a little hot, they were rubbing her waist in a very proper manner.
She leaned on her arm and turned her head to look at Mei Zhuyu. He sat beside her, bent over, with his hair hanging down to his shoulders. The dim light outside cast a hazy edge around him, like a green pine on the edge of a cliff—Wu Zhen suddenly thought so for no reason.
She suddenly turned around, stretched out her hand, and pulled Mei Zhuyu down. She didn’t say anything, but her meaning was very clear.
The night was short, and dawn soon appeared outside the window. Wu Zhen had just fallen asleep when the sound of bells and drums radiating from the Imperial City to the various neighborhoods echoed. She felt disturbed, so she fumbled around and touched something, and immediately buried herself in it.
Mei Zhuyu was awakened by the sound of bells and drums outside and by his newlywed wife. He opened his eyes a little confused and saw Wu Zhen frowning and hiding in his arms. He immediately realized something and reached out to cover her ears. Sure enough, she relaxed her frown, put her arm around his waist, and fell asleep again.
The bells and drums would ring several times for a long time. Mei Zhuyu would usually get up when the first bell and drum sounded, sit in the courtyard and breathe for two quarters, practice swordplay for two quarters, wash up and prepare for breakfast, and then ride to work. If there was a court meeting, he would get up earlier. But that day, he lay here and felt like he didn’t want to do anything but look at Wu Zhen.
Suddenly, the hand around his waist moved away, and Mei Zhuyu felt his eyes darken, and his eyes were covered.Â
Wu Zhen said in a sleepy voice with a nasal tone, “I can’t sleep when you look at me.”
Mei Zhuyu apologized, and Wu Zhen opened one eye and glanced at him.
“Look out the window.”
Mei Zhuyu turned around and looked. The peonies in the garden were shining in the morning light, probably because of the dew on the flowers. The air was very good in the morning, and there was still a faint fragrance in the air, but Mei Zhuyu didn’t know why, and felt that the fragrance was not as strong as last night.
Wu Zhen sat up, rested her chin on his shoulder, and looked at the peony bushes outside with him.
“Does it look good?”
“Nice.”
Wu Zhen kissed him on the cheek, then lay back, resting her head on his chest, and said lazily, “Since it’s beautiful, just look at the flowers. I’ll sleep for a while.”
Mei Zhuyu searched for her hand under the thin quilt, held it, and quietly looked at the peony flowers outside until the sky brightened.
After all, he was not used to staying in bed too late, so Mei Zhuyu got up, tidied up the room quietly, closed the two wide windows, leaving only a small gap, then closed the door and went out.
After Wu Zhen finally slept well and woke up, she saw her father and new son-in-law sitting in the living room drinking tea.
