The buddhist girl transmigrated into a book - chapter 108
Gu Guoan told Gu Mian not to take Jin Zhenzhu’s matter to heart and he would handle it, so she naturally agreed.
For Gu Guoan, if Gu Mian hadn’t mentioned Jin Zhenzhu in front of him, he would no longer remember his ex-wife. When she went abroad with another man, Gu Mian was only two years old.
If it hadn’t been for Jin Zhenzhu’s departure, he would not have thought about giving his daughter the best life and got too busy with work. He would not keep Gu Mian away from his side for so many years.
Fortunately, although the father and daughter didn’t have much contact over the years, Gu Mian did not alienate him.
This was his greatest fortune.
When Jin Zhenzhu left his two-year-old daughter to live with another man, Gu Guoan still had a lot of affection for her. He had also suffered from a failed marriage and was puzzled and confused.
But when he succeeded in his career, he completely let go of the past. He had passed forty years without confusion. He could also smile when he looked back at the person he loved.
No matter what Jin Zhenzhu came back for, he was not interested.
But if she had any thoughts about Gu Mian, he would never let go of her.
–
Gu Mian and Cheng Zhi had made an appointment for dinner the next day, but she received a call from her agent early the next morning, saying that she had temporarily arranged work for her.
She could only send a WeChat message to Cheng Zhi to postpone their appointment.
Cheng Zhi had some regrets, but he also expressed understanding.
Gu Mian got into the car and knew what the extra work was.
She was going to a studio to take a promotional photo with a child with autism to let people pay more attention to children with such a disorder.
Just as the car was about to start, Gu Mian asked the driver to wait.
When she got into the car, she had a little white fox in her arms.
After Xiao Zhu saw Xiao Ruan, she said, “Mian Mian, why did you bring the little fox?”
“Children should like small animals.”
Speaking of children with autism, Gu Mian thought of Wen Xia’s son Wen Xingyuan. She touched the little fox’s head and asked Xiao Zhu, “Who is the child with autism this time?”
Xiao Zhu sighed slightly, “Mian Mian, you should know that it is Wen Xingyuan.”
Gu Mian was a little surprised, “Is it him?”
“Yes, although Wen Xia had already retired, she can barely be regarded as a second-generation star.”
Gu Mian pursed her lips, “How is he doing?”
“I heard he is still under treatment.”
After arriving in the studio, Gu Mian realized that it was not just her who took part in the promotional photoshoot. Besides her, four other stars had already arrived.
One of the actresses had squatted and was trying to talk to Wen Xingyuan, but he kept his eyes down and was silent.
A male star sighed, “Autism is like this. He lives in his own world and will not respond when others talk to him.”
Although the actress was a little distressed about Wen Xingyuan’s experience, he did not pay attention to her at all and did not even look at her. After several failures, she gave up communicating with him.
The actress was a little sad. Wen Xingyuan was so uncooperative. What should she do when they work? Would the shooting go badly?
She murmured, “How will we take promotional photos then?”
The actor had a calm face, “Let’s see what the photographer says.”
The two left to communicate with the photographer.
Gu Mian saw that Wen Xingyuan was the only one left on the side. She held Xiao Ruan and prepared to go.
Xiao Zhu hurriedly called Gu Mian, “Mian Mian, what are you going to do?”
Gu Mian pursed her lips, “I’ll go see him.”
She walked in front of Wen Xingyuan and sat down cross-legged.
During the whole process, Wen Xingyuan didn’t move, as if he hadn’t noticed Gu Mian coming over.
Looking at Wen Xingyuan up close, Gu Mian realized that he had completely inherited Wen Xia’s good looks with a delicate face, long and curly eyelashes and looked cute.
Gu Mian smiled and put Xiao Ruan’s two front paws on Wen Xingyuan’s knees, “Xiao Ruan, let me introduce him, this is brother.”
Xiao Ruan was very obedient.
The little fox’s snow-white fur occasionally appeared in Wen Xingyuan’s sight. After some time, Wen Xingyuan finally slowly raised his head and looked toward Gu Mian and Xiao Ruan.
With Gu Mian’s intervention, Wen Xia discovered the nanny’s abuse of the child earlier than in the novel. So Wen Xingyuan’s condition was actually not very serious. If he spent more time on treatment, his autism could be cured.
Gu Mian was very patient. She put the soft paw in Wen Xingyuan’s palm and asked in a gentle voice, “Do you want to play with it? It’s called Xiao Ruan.”
Wen Xingyuan squeezed the soft paws gently.

Apparently in Chinese novels, autism is the word that you used to describe any sort of developmental delay in a child that occurs for any reason. It’s not just this novel translation that I’ve noticed this. It’s a bunch of them. I’m assuming it’s like Movie Cancer, which has little to no relationship with actual cancer. Chinese Web Novel Autism, not anything like real autism.

Since I’m well aware that Chinese Web Novel Pregnancy exists: it’s the one where it’s not safe to have sex while pregnant, which is nothing like actual pregnancy.

As far as I know , there’s no cure for Autism, rather there’s a treatment for them to be able to function in the society. Although it was said that Autism can manifest due to environmental influence during growth year which is 0-7 yrs. old. But Autism due to abuse? I doubt it. Its more like a Reactive Attachment Disorder (RAD) that kids develop due to abuse. It usually mistaken as Autism. I googled it 😅. Maybe the author generalized it as Autism, since the symptoms are alike.
Sometimes some Authors used random diseases , illnesses or disorders just for the sake of the story and there’s no indepth knowledge of it. Just my unwarranted opinion 🤭✌️

I really wish the translator would use a different word(s) instead of ‘autism’ – something like “developed mental scars after abuse” or “emotional confusion” or “reticent”
The word in Chinese may be the same for being neurodivergent (neurotypical means no autism xD) and victims of abuse (not sure if it’s that or a fundamental misunderstanding of neurodivergence and mental health in China). But if it’s just word choice in translation – I think it would be a good idea to choose the words more accurately.

I don’t know, the kid has an autism, but they wanted to use him for shooting? I mean, c’mon at least get a child who’s much more stable in condition? The child was abused and in the process of healing, what are they hoping to see when the child is sick? Really so insensitive.

As a person with autism, the way Chinese novels talk about the diagnosis is deeply uncomfortable. To have autism is to be born neuroatypical! This is has no connection with abuse, and is not an illness that can be cured. It is being born different and learning to live and function with those differences.
