Reborn Lady - Chapter 446
Yin Hui pondered for a moment before expressing her concern, “But the sea can be treacherous, what if…”
Wei Luo reassured her with a hint of helplessness, “Rest assured, the ships built by the Ministry of Industry for sea voyages are reliable.”
He even presented a stack of drawings depicting seagoing ships, detailing everything from their exteriors to the layout of the cabins inside, complete with cannons.
Yin Hui eyed them greedily. “My grandfather also went to sea when he was young, but the ships weren’t as powerful as these.”
Wei Luo glanced at her and remarked, “If Grandfather still wishes to go to sea, he can join them this time.”
Yin Hui shot back, “You’re dreaming! It’s enough to consider sending Cui Yu; Grandfather is already old, and you still want to send him?!”
Wei Luo smiled innocently. “I was just speaking casually.”
Yin Hui continued to stare at him warningly. “Don’t speak like that in front of Grandfather.”
Wei Luo smiled and affectionately patted Yin Hui’s head.
The following day, Wei Ying entered the palace and went directly to see Yin Hui.
Yin Hui dismissed all the court ladies and engaged in a private conversation with her.
Wei Ying exclaimed with excitement, “Sister-in-law, I want to go to sea with Yu Lang. Since he refuses to resign, I’ll fake my death, and then I can be Mrs. Cui for him. When we return, we’ll live in Jinling and won’t have to worry about being recognized when we go out.”
Yin Hui glared at her, saying, “What’s so great about faking your death? You’re talking about it so cheerfully.”
Wei Ying smiled wistfully, “I’m thirty-five years old, still seen as an old Princess by the people here in the capital. Instead of being a pitiful Princess who dies at sixty or seventy, it’s better to ‘die’ now and still be remembered fondly.” She paused, her expression turning solemn, then continued, “At least I’ll be able to live freely without the burden of my title.”
As Wei Ying spoke, her words flowed, and Yin Hui gradually began to understand her perspective, nodding in agreement.
Wei Ying wrapped her arm around Yin Hui’s and pleaded playfully, “Sister-in-law, please tell the Third Brother for us.”
Yin Hui questioned, “What about Concubine Xian?”
Wei Ying reassured her, “I’ll speak to her directly. My mother must be able to consider things that my father has already accepted. Besides, with you here in the capital to look after her, and with the Fourth Brother and his wife being filial, she’ll be well taken care of. It won’t matter if I’m far away.” She grinned mischievously. “Maybe I can even bring her some treasures from overseas to show off to Concubine Li.
Yin Hui responded, “Alright, as long as Concubine Xian agrees, your third brother and I will definitely cooperate.”
At that moment, Wei Ying glanced at Yin Hui once more and suddenly felt a pang of reluctance. If she were to go through with her plan to feign her death, she would never be able to enter the palace again.
“Sister-in-law, I will miss you,” Wei Ying confessed as she hugged Yin Hui tightly.
Yin Hui teased her, “You don’t even spare a thought for me; you only think about Yu Lang.”
Wei Ying blushed and countered, “Yu Lang has become an old man.”
Yin Hui wasn’t convinced. Handsome men like Wei Luo and Cui Yu typically took care of their health and looked much younger than their actual age.
In this manner, Cui Yu rescinded his resignation and was dispatched to Jinling by Wei Luo to make preparations for the trip.
Simultaneously, Wei Ying started to feign illness.
Apart from Yin Hui and her husband, only Wei Ying’s biological mother, Concubine Xian, and brother Wei Xuan knew the truth.
On the day Wei Ying “passed away due to illness”, Fu Shan wept bitterly, tears streaming down her face, while the children also cried for their beloved Third Aunt.
Yin Hui couldn’t help but shed tears as she was comforted by them.
With Wei Ying’s departure, it was not just a mere facade of death; it was a genuine parting, a separation between life and death.
Though reluctant to see her go, Yin Hui couldn’t help but feel immense happiness for Wei Ying and Cui Yu in her heart. After twenty long years, these two individuals who had harbored affection for each other had finally found their way together.
In the first year of Taiping, at the end of June, a fleet of ships departed from Jinling, with Yang Fan leading them into the vast expanse of the sea.
Apart from Cui Yu and Qingzhu, no one else in the entire ship knew Wei Ying’s true identity. Even the two maids she had acquired only knew her as a girl from Shu, surnamed Wei. They were told that during a flood, she had been favored by Master Cui and vowed only to marry him. After years of waiting, she finally won Master Cui’s heart and became his wife.
As the ship sailed through the day with calm weather, the evening brought a breathtaking display as the setting sun cast its colorful hues upon the tranquil sea.
Leaning against the railing, Wei Ying gazed out at the magnificent view before her, feeling as though all the troubles of the past had faded into insignificance.
Reflecting on her youth, she remembered how vast Pingcheng had seemed when she first left the Yan Palace. Yet, beyond Pingcheng lay Yandi, and beyond Yandi stretched the entire Wei Dynasty.
Beyond the sea, Wei Ying couldn’t help but wonder what lay on the other side. With anticipation, she opened her arms as if ready to embrace whatever awaited her.
“Will it be cold?” She asked.
Cui Yu approached and gently draped a cloak around her shoulders.
Wei Ying shook her head, then lifted her gaze, her face lighting up with a smile. “This place is so beautiful.”
Cui Yu hugged her tenderly and whispered in her ear, “Not as beautiful as the Princess.”
Wei Ying glanced at him, surprised by his words.
Quickly realizing his slip, Cui Yu’s eyes twinkled as he amended, “Not as beautiful as my wife.”
Wei Ying’s heart warmed with satisfaction. They were now a formal couple, having exchanged vows under the heavens in Jinling. From this moment on, she would be known only as the wife of Cui Yu.

although a happy ending I still can’t understand why the princess has to pretend to be dead. she has more family members than Cui Yu so it’s only fair that he pretends to be dead and whenever he wants to meet his sister he can do so. anyway
