- Chapter 433 - Extra 2 Story: Wei Luo Chasing His Wife (Wu Luo + Yin Hui time travelled back together)
The winter chill was biting, and despite Wei Luo’s desire to be a bit daring with Yin Hui, he wouldn’t dare to agree in such weather. Yet, his longing for his wife, especially after feeling neglected by her for so long, was too intense to suppress.
Though he couldn’t overstep boundaries, Wei Luo couldn’t resist stealing kisses on her neck and face.
Suddenly, Yin Hui recalled something, pushing him away with a fierce gaze. “You still disdain my saliva. You’ve never kissed me before!”
Wei Luo’s gaze shifted to her lips, and he couldn’t help but recall the skewers she had consumed.
Seeing the change in his expression, Yin Hui hesitated, about to overcome her own resistance and lean in for a kiss, when she abruptly remembered the mutton skewers.
In a rush, she lowered her head, covering Wei Luo’s face with her hands, and awkwardly muttered, “Forget it. I disdain you too.”
It wasn’t that she felt compelled to kiss him; rather, she simply couldn’t bear his apparent disdain.
After straightening her clothes, Yin Hui circled around him and headed out.
Fearful that she might storm off in anger once more, Wei Luo caught hold of her wrist and suggested, “Let me carry you down.”
After all the walking they’d done up and down the mountain, she must be exhausted too.
Yin Hui hesitated, wanting him to insist, yet also feeling a bit apprehensive.
Wei Luo reassured her, “Keep your head down. Others will assume I’m carrying my brother on my back.”
Luckily, Yin Hui was dressed in men’s attire, and it was really inconvenient to change into women’s clothes.
With that said, Wei Luo crouched down in front of her.
Yin Hui grinned and settled herself on his back.
As they encountered other travelers along the path, Yin Hui would turn her face away from prying eyes, feeling a mixture of embarrassment and happiness in her heart as they made their way down.
As they neared the foot of the mountain, Wei Luo glanced back and inquired, “Should I have my father arrange another meeting with the matchmaker tomorrow?”
Subconsciously resisting, Yin Hui replied, “What’s the rush? Let’s enjoy this happiness a bit longer.”
Wei Luo’s ears turned slightly red as he responded, “It’s not that I’m in a rush, but Xiao Heng is still waiting.”
Yin Hui fell silent.
Xiao Heng was conceived around May of the following year, meaning their marriage would need to take place by May at the latest, not to mention the necessary wedding preparations…
Reluctantly, she nibbled at Wei Luo’s nape, but alas, his skin was tight, and she failed to catch any flesh. It was almost as if she had kissed Wei Luo instead.
Wei Luo slowed his pace, scanning their surroundings before carrying her to a secluded spot nearby.
With the trees stripped bare in winter, there was little cover available. Wei Luo, cautious not to overindulge, released Yin Hui after a brief kiss.
Yin Hui, feeling uncomfortable in the exposed surroundings, lowered her head, eager to depart from the secluded area.
However, Wei Luo stopped her with a gentle grip and whispered, “Wait a little longer.”
Misinterpreting his intentions as a desire for another kiss, Yin Hui attempted to leave.
Realizing her misunderstanding, Wei Luo embraced her, gently caressing her flushed cheek with one hand as he explained, “It’s too red.”
Yin Hui couldn’t help but feel incredulous. After all, his neck had been kissed all around—how could it not be red?
In frustration, she stamped her foot before sitting down on a patch of dry grass nearby, her back turned to him.
Wei Luo settled beside her.
Glancing at him, Yin Hui picked up a piece of hay, twirling it in her fingers. Recalling her recent encounter with King Yan, she asked in a perplexed tone, “Does… Father, King Yan, truly does not mind my temperament?”
Before that day, Wei Luo had been unsure, but after witnessing his father’s behavior this morning, he came to a belated realization.
“Father is very open-minded. Whether it’s his children or his sons- and daughters-in-law, as long as they don’t make major mistakes, a little bit of temperament doesn’t matter,” Wei Luo mused. For instance, his father admired the dignity and virtue of his eldest sister-in-law but turned a blind eye to the arrogance and pride of his second sister-in-law, never overly criticizing her.
If Yin Hui initially presented herself as a demure lady in front of his father but later had to frequently venture out, his father might not approve, deeming her too pampered.Â
Conversely, if his father perceived Yin Hui as a lively and playful girl from the outset, he would either reject her as a daughter-in-law or continue to indulge her rather than making him marry her first and then demanding she change her temperament.
After hearing his explanation, Yin Hui’s eyes flickered, and she suddenly stared at him and asked, “What if Father asks you to discipline me after we get married? What will you do?”
Wei Luo looked at her and smiled, saying, “I will learn from my second brother, and obey Madam Yin.”
Yin Hui’s eyes were dazzled by that fleeting smile. Nineteen-year-old Wei Luo was far less cold than thirty-year-old, and he looked even better when he smiled.
“Aren’t you afraid of being punished by Father?” Yin Hui hummed, suspecting that he was just talking casually.
In Wei Luo’s heart, the two had always been husband and wife, so there was no need to hide some things from her, saying, “As long as I continue to do meritorious service, Father will not interfere with your little family.”
Yin Hui thought of the merits and hardships he had undergone in his previous life.
She couldn’t help but say, “When Feng Teng challenges you again, ignore him.”
Wei Luo was amused by her anger at Feng Teng, held her hand, and said, “I know. As for Yin Wen, I will also help Grandfather get rid of future troubles.”
Yin Hui had her own way to deal with Yin Wen. “You can take care of the affairs of the palace. Grandfather still regards Yin Wen as his precious grandson. He will not be able to bear to hurt Yin Wen rashly.”
Wei Luo glanced around and felt that this was not the place to discuss these things, so he looked at her and said, “Let’s not talk about it for now. After we get married, let’s discuss it in the long term.”
At this moment, a beam of sunlight broke through the clouds, covering the two of them perfectly.
Within the halo, Wei Luo’s expression and gaze softened.
Yin Hui seemed to envision their future life being as serene as this ray of light, free from any darkness.
“Well, no matter what happens in the future, let’s face it together.”
 —–
Wei Luo not only accompanied Yin Hui to the temple fair but also personally escorted her back to the Yin Mansion
In addition to expressing his sincerity to Yin Yong about asking Yin Hui to marry him, Wei Luo’s father, King Yan, casually took away the eight guards of the Yin family. Wei Luo felt the need to explain this to Yin Yong to avoid any offense.
After talking with Yin Yong, Yin Hui returned to her yard, her cheeks flushed.
Seeing Wei Luo off, Yin Yong couldn’t help but tease upon returning to his little granddaughter, “Didn’t you say that the Third Master is just an ordinary person in your eyes, and you have no desire to marry him? Why did you bring him back today?”
Yin Hui quibbled, “I didn’t invite him, but he insisted on following.”
Yin Yong chuckled, “Oh, so you still don’t fancy the Third Master? Then Grandfather will decline the marriage for you.”
Knowing her grandfather was teasing, Yin Hui playfully remarked, “Decline away, anyway, I’m in no rush to get married.”
Yin Yong adored and fretted over his granddaughter’s spirited nature, advising, “You can be as capricious as you like at home, but once you marry into the palace, you must present yourself differently. Learn from your uncle’s wife…”
Yin Hui could almost recite those words by heart. In her previous life, she obeyed her grandfather’s directives for a decade. Where did it lead her?
In this life, Yin Hui resolved to follow her heart, never to compromise her integrity again.
Of course, there was no need to burden her grandfather with these thoughts, lest it trouble the old man.
“Understood, don’t worry,” Yin Hui replied obediently, with a smile.
Meanwhile, at the Yan Palace, Wei Luo wasted no time in discussing the proposal with his father upon his return, eager to formalize his intentions towards Yin Hui.
King Yan wasn’t surprised; his youngest son had such charisma that even if Yin Hui hadn’t seen him before, she could hardly refuse once she laid eyes on him.
As for the details of how his son wooed the girl on the mountain, King Yan didn’t pry.
The following day, Princess Xu arranged for a matchmaker to visit the Yin Mansion
The neighbors of the Yin family were consumed by envy, particularly the second household, Yin Jingshan’s family, who were seething with resentment. Yin Rong even believed that Yin Hui had stolen the marriage opportunity that rightfully belonged to her.
The situation surrounding Yin Hui’s marriage was not simply a matter of fate; it was decided beforehand, and only Yin Hui was accepted. If Wei Luo couldn’t marry Yin Hui, he’d rather not marry at all than settle for second best.
