- Chapter 420 - Extra 2 Story: Wei Luo Chasing His Wife (Wu Luo + Yin Hui time travelled back together)
Except for Yin Wen, Yin Jingshan, Madam Zhao, and Yin Rong demanded an explanation from Yin Yong.
Understanding that his son and daughter-in-law were eager to align themselves with the powerful, Yin Yong sought to dissuade them completely.
Thus, he spoke frankly, “Originally, I had agreed. However, the Third Master expressed his disapproval of Rong Rong, prompting him to reject the marriage outright when he came to visit. What can I do?”
Already aware of Wei Luo’s visit, the news left Yin Rong feeling humiliated and she burst into tears, fleeing from the room with her face covered.
Unwilling to accept the situation, Madam Zhao gritted her teeth and retorted, “What’s wrong with Rongrong? Even King Yan doesn’t dislike her. How dare the Third Master defy his father’s order?”
Yin Yong responded firmly, “He did dare, and I even persuaded King Yan to abandon the idea. However, the circumstances were unfavorable, so let it be.”
Yin Jingshan whispered anxiously, “What about the money? Was it all for nothing?”
Two million taels was a substantial sum, not easily procured from the Yin family’s coffers without raising suspicions. While the movement of such funds could be concealed from others, it could not escape the notice of the family members.
Once known for his talkative nature, Yin Yong’s patience wore thin. He slammed his hand on the table and shouted angrily, “Kneel down!”
The old man wasn’t one to anger easily. With his gentle eyebrows and kind eyes, when he did assert his authority, it struck like thunder.
Yin Jingshan and his wife felt their legs weaken, and they both knelt down.
Even though Yin Wen hadn’t made any mistakes, he knelt behind his parents at that moment.
Yin Yong remained seated on his chair and instructed his son and daughter-in-law, “Slap yourselves until I am satisfied.”
Yin Jingshan and Madam Zhao dared not disobey and began to slap themselves on both sides of their faces. For a while, the only sound in the room was the echoing slaps of their hands against their skin.
Yin Yong watched them coldly, and when their faces were red and swollen, he spoke again, “The money was used by me for business purposes. It has nothing to do with King Yan. Do you understand?”
The couple bowed their heads, feeling aggrieved.
Yin Yong reiterated, “If even the slightest rumor spreads and offends King Yan, I will make sure you two take the blame. Remember that.”
With that, the couple nodded, silently acknowledging his warning.
In that moment, the couple, once enamored by the allure of wealth and prestige, finally regained their composure, trembling all over.
Yin Yong instructed the couple to retreat, then turned to Yin Wen and said, “Go and explain things clearly to Rongrong. Tell her not to harbor unrealistic ambitions; the Third Master is beyond her reach.”
Yin Wen accepted the order resignedly and left.
Yin Yong leaned back in his chair, fatigue evident on his face as he pinched his forehead wearily.
Uncle De’s voice called out, “Second Miss,” from outside. Yin Yong immediately composed himself, setting aside his weariness, and pretended to leisurely enjoy his tea.
As the light at the door dimmed, Yin Yong raised his head and saw his little granddaughter, adorned in peach-colored clothes. Her delicate dress accentuated her dewy complexion, which was more captivating than the blossoming flowers of spring.
“Ah Hui is here,” Yin Yong greeted with a smile.
Yin Hui returned the smile and offered, “Does Grandfather have a headache? Let me massage your head for you.”
Yin Yong replied, “Have you overheard everything?”
Yin Hui, his mischievous granddaughter, was the most likely to eavesdrop, and Uncle De was often hesitant to stop her.
“Why don’t you desire a marriage that others can only dream of?” Yin Yong leaned back in his chair, gazing at his granddaughter who stood behind him, assisting in massaging his forehead. He looked puzzled as he continued, “I’ve never lied to you. The Third Master is truly exceptional, surpassing even his elder brother and Huai’an. He’s like a God walking among mortals.”
Yin Hui listened intently, wearing a smile on her face. However, the more her grandfather praised Wei Luo, the more worthless she felt in comparison.
In the eyes of her grandfather, Wei Luo might be the epitome of an ideal grandson-in-law, but in Wei Luo’s perspective, what was her grandfather? He was merely an in-law who brought him shame, an old man unworthy of his respect.
Due to the gap in their statuses, Wei Luo indeed held the authority to look down upon the Yin family. Yet, this did not imply that the Yin family would accept his disdain.
Human hearts were tender, and there was no reason to endure daily contempt. Yet, they must continue to greet him with a smile and strive to win his favor.
“You still insist that I’m a fairy descended to earth. If that’s the case, why must I marry him? While he may be exceptional among ordinary folks, in my eyes, he’s just ordinary,” Yin Hui asserted.
Yin Yong couldn’t help but chuckle at his granddaughter’s confidence and audacity.
Yin Hui cherished her grandfather’s smile. Lately, she had been pondering why fate had granted her a second chance at life.
After much contemplation, Yin Hui concluded that her grandfather had met an unjust end in her previous life. A kind-hearted person who frequently aided others should not have met such a fate. Hence, she believed that God had sent her back to ensure her grandfather’s longevity.
“Grandfather, that matter is now behind us. Let’s not dwell on it any longer. Since you have some free time, why don’t we head to Dongshan to enjoy the autumn scenery?” Yin Hui proposed eagerly.
She yearned to go horseback riding, pick wildflowers in the mountains, gaze upon the large tortoise in the pond at Dongshan Temple, and partake in numerous other activities.
Like a bird released from a cage after ten years, she finally had the freedom to soar wherever she pleased.
