- Chapter 414 - Extra 2 Story: Wei Luo Chasing His Wife (Wu Luo + Yin Hui time travelled back together)
Upon hearing of their father’s perceived injustices, Wei Yan wasted no time in airing his grievances against Emperor Jianlong.
King Yan’s stern gaze fixed upon him. “Presumptuous! Who gave you permission to speak?”
Wei Yan hastily recoiled, his neck shrinking.
A wry smile flickered in Wei Luo’s eyes. Indeed, his second brother was quite…
To Wei Luo, the day unfolded rather ordinarily, and upon awakening the next morning, he discovered himself still within the confines of Chengxin Hall. Wei Luo was increasingly convinced that this was no mere dream.
Though bizarre, it brought a sense of security. Moreover, it afforded him the opportunity to rectify past regrets.
For instance, he decided to treat Madam Yin’s family with kindness, sparing her from the fear she once harbored towards him. He also vowed to address Yin Wen’s situation preemptively, preventing the unjust demise of Liao Shisan’s family and sparing Yin Yong from any implication.
He decided he would no longer engage in rivalry with Feng Teng, thereby averting any regrets surrounding the departure of the Feng father and son, as well as his father, King Yan.
Additionally, he planned to arrange his cousin’s marriage in Yandi and facilitate the relocation of his uncle’s family there as officials, thereby safeguarding them from any involvement in the Jingnan case.
Apart from family matters, there were also state affairs to attend to.
In short, Wei Luo had a multitude of tasks awaiting him in this new life.
“My lord, please proceed to Cunxin Hall,” a servant announced.
“Understood,” Wei Luo acknowledged.
Setting aside his current task, Wei Luo made his way to Cunxin Hall.
King Yan observed his son, a nineteen-year-old youth with piercing brows and sharp, phoenix-like eyes. Though they hadn’t seen each other in a month, Wei Luo appeared more composed, his demeanor exuding a sense of stability and reliability compared to his elder brothers.
Such a commendable son deserved a match from a prestigious family. However, with the pressing need for funds and the difficulty in acquiring wealth through legitimate means, King Yan found himself compelled to wrong his son.
“Do you know of the Yin family in Pingcheng?” King Yan inquired.
Wei Luo nodded in acknowledgment.
King Yan continued, “I intend to arrange a marriage with the Yin family. Are you willing to wed Miss Yin?”
Wei Luo cast his gaze downward and replied respectfully, “My fate is in the hands of my father.”
Back then, Wei Luo hesitated for a moment before responding. He suspected his father’s motives; it seemed likely that his father intended to use the Yin family’s wealth, and the proposal for him to marry their daughter was merely a means to get it.
At that time, Wei Luo had felt deeply unsettled, sensing that his father didn’t value him and was willing to exchange his marriage for money. Yet, he recognized that his father had made a decision, and he had no right to act selfishly in such significant matters.
Now, however, Wei Luo answered willingly.
Of course, King Yan noticed his son’s emotions. Observing his third son’s straightforwardness, it was evident that he prioritized the greater good. King Yan felt immensely satisfied.
As Wei Luo left, his mind was filled with thoughts of Madam Yin. He wondered how she was faring.
If Madam Yin remained fourteen years old, the prospect of marrying him would likely elate the young girl.
And if Madam Yin had returned alongside him, she would undoubtedly accept his proposal if she held him in such high regard.
Now that King Yan had secured his son’s agreement, he promptly sent a steward to the Yin Mansion to negotiate with Yin Yong.
They agreed to first discuss matters privately, with Yin Yong’s cooperation determining whether the palace would proceed to formally propose the marriage. If Yin Yong proved uncooperative, then King Yan wouldn’t hesitate to act decisively.
For the sake of protecting the realm, he was prepared to destroy a family if necessary.
In the East Courtyard of the Yin Mansion, within the Huixiang Hall, Yin Hui lounged in her yard.
In the autumn breeze, Yin Hui sat on the swing in the small garden, Jinzhan gently pushing her. With her left hand resting atop her head, her long lashes drooped, leaving one to wonder whether she was asleep or lost in thought.
Yin Hui felt a newfound sense of comfort and tranquility.
Having returned just the previous morning and finding herself not yet married off to the Yan Palace, Yin Hui had rushed to embrace her grandfather, tears streaming down her cheeks.
After shedding her tears, all the grievances she had harbored over the years seemed to vanish completely. As long as her grandfather remained by her side, she would continue to be the cheerful and carefree Second Miss of the Yin family.
When her grandfather inquired about the reason for her tears, Yin Hui pondered for a moment before simply attributing them to a nightmare.
Having endured such misery in her previous life, Yin Hui was determined not to burden her grandfather with her sadness. In this new life, she resolved to remain by his side, aiding him in averting the misfortunes of their past.
“Miss, Uncle De just sent word that a steward from the Yan Palace wishes to speak with the master. The Second Master is currently attending to the guest, while the master is out. Uncle De has already dispatched someone to summon him,” a servant informed Yin Hui.
Yin Hui nodded calmly, maintaining her composure despite the news.
Jinzhan’s curiosity prompted her to inquire, “Miss, aren’t you curious why the steward from the Yan Palace wishes to see the master?”
Yin Hui, however, remained unperturbed. She knew full well that the steward had come to solicit funds for King Yan, and the means to do so involved a marriage alliance with the Yin family.
Wasn’t Yin Rong always envious of her grandfather’s favoritism and longing to marry into the Yan Palace to become its mistress? Well, then she would let Yin Rong be the one to marry this time. As the eldest daughter, it was only fitting for her to wed before her younger sister. And as for the Yan Palace, they cared only for the wealth of the Yin family, so it mattered little which one would be married to their palace.
The image of Wei Luo’s cold eyes flickered in Yin Hui’s mind, eliciting a bitter smile from her.
He intended to take his childhood sweetheart as a concubine, so he could do as he pleased. It had nothing to do with her anyway.
The only regret in breaking off this engagement was Wei Heng.
At the thought of Wei Heng, Yin Hui’s heart ached. She couldn’t bear the pain, yet she was adamant about avoiding a life of confinement and misery.
