Reborn Lady - Chapter 404
Wei Luo pursed his lips and tugged at the quilt.
With a grunt, she pulled the quilt back.
Wei Luo paused, unconcerned whether she would wake this time, and forcefully pulled half of the quilt to cover himself.
Unexpectedly, she followed suit, nestling her head into the hollow of his shoulder and wrapping her arms around his waist.
Wei Luo glanced at the top of the bed and suddenly pressed closer.
Perhaps it was too cold without the quilt. When he woke up in the morning, Wei Luo felt a slight discomfort in his throat.
Before heading out for his morning exercise, Wei Luo said to Yin Hui, “Prepare another quilt; you and I will sleep separately.”
Yin Hui was momentarily taken aback, then obediently agreed.
After Wei Luo departed, Yin Hui pouted.
Did he despise her?
But for the past two nights, it was evident that he had been the one pestering her.

On the seventh day, when Yin Hui’s menstrual cycle was late, she could no longer hide it. That night, as Wei Luo moved to embrace her, she hesitantly murmured.
Wei Luo’s hand remained around her shoulders. Observing her shy expression, he couldn’t quite process what she said.
It was unusual for the typically reserved Third Master to display such a bewildered expression. Yin Hui smiled expectantly and said, “Perhaps I am pregnant.”
Suddenly, Wei Luo’s heartbeat quickened, and joy shone clearly in his eyes.
It was just that Yin Hui had lowered her eyes and missed seeing it. When she looked up again, Wei Luo had resumed his usual demeanor, calmly stating, “Call the doctor to come over tomorrow morning.”
Yin Hui, concerned that it might be too soon to be certain, replied, “Let’s wait a little longer.”
“Well, it seems the days have been too short to confirm anything.”
Wei Luo, not fully comprehending these matters, simply listened to Yin Hui.
Unable to take any direct action, he held her for a while before returning to his own bed.
Yin Hui was overwhelmed with joy and soon drifted off to sleep.
Wei Luo, however, remained profoundly awake.
He was going to become a father.
He still remembered his childhood yearning to be embraced by his own father. Now, a child would come to him, who would hopefully obediently call him father.
This child would be the first for him and Yin. Would it be a son or a daughter?
If a son, he felt confident in knowing how to guide him. But if a daughter, should she be taught to embody the dignity and virtue of his elder sister, or the vivacity and charm of his younger sister?
If a daughter, she should resemble Madam Yin. As she grew, countless suitors would come seeking her hand in marriage.
What kind of son-in-law should he find for his daughter?
Scholars seemed too frail, and military officers too rough, lacking the tenderness to cherish and protect her.
In the dead of night, one thought after another raced through Wei Luo’s mind, and he didn’t know when he eventually fell asleep.
After another ten days, Wei Luo finally summoned a doctor from the palace.
After examining Yin Hui’s pulse, the doctor smiled and announced, “Congratulations to the Third Master and Third Lady. This is the pulse of happiness—it appears she is more than a month pregnant.”
Yin Hui smiled and looked at Wei Luo, who sat beside her.
Wei Luo inquired about what to pay attention to during pregnancy.
The doctor carefully explained to the young couple the precautions to take during the first three months of pregnancy.
Wei Luo remembered that xoxo was not suitable during this period.
So, from that night onward, Wei Luo didn’t go to her inner room for fear of temptation.
However, he instructed An Shun’er to monitor Yin Hui’s appetite closely and to inform the palace’s purchasing steward if she desired any particular food.
The Princess typically managed the affairs of the royal residence, and Yin Hui was expected to accept whatever she provided without making demands.
However, Wei Luo felt differently. Madam Yin was pregnant, and her well-being regarding food should not be compromised. Recognizing the need to ensure her comfort, he took it upon himself to make arrangements.
Yin Hui wasn’t aware of Wei Luo’s actions, but she noticed that the kitchen seemed to send more dishes than before, and the assortment of melons and fruits was well-prepared. When she expressed a desire for pears one day, the kitchen sent them for several consecutive days. Feeling a bit overwhelmed by that, Yin Hui casually mentioned to Jinzhan that she craved pomegranates. Jinzhan relayed the request to the kitchen, and by mid-morning, a plate of peeled pomegranates was delivered to her.
Yin Hui’s appetite thrived, and Wei Luo observed with delight as her cheeks grew fuller, her complexion radiant like a well-tended peony—graceful and delicate.
As Yin Hui’s belly grew larger, Wei Luo grew increasingly worried about her well-being. He found himself worrying whenever she took even a few steps.
Despite the approaching Chinese New Year, Wei Luo continued to visit the backyard.
On the first night of the festivities, Wei Luo was awakened from sleep by the sound of Yin Hui tossing and turning.
Sitting up, he immediately inquired, “What’s wrong?” With only one light illuminating the room, her face appeared blurred, and her voice embarrassed, she replied, “Nothing, I just need to use the washroom.”
Wei Luo wanted to assist her, but Yin Hui was too nervous to accept his help. Instead, she called for Yinzhan, who quickly withdrew after washing her hands.
As Yin Hui rose, Wei Luo supported her shoulders, determined to provide whatever assistance he could.
Yin Hui whispered, “Did I disturb you? I’ve been waking up at night lately. Why don’t you sleep in the front yard?”
Wei Hao inquired, “So, you’ve been waking up early and didn’t want to disturb me, so you endured it?”
Yin Hui bit her lip, silently acknowledging.
Frowning, Wei Luo insisted, “You don’t have to do this in the future. Your health is important.”
Yin Hui simply replied, “Yes.”
Though they were husband and wife, they rarely talked during ordinary times. That night, however, they found themselves exchanging more words than usual.
Yin Hui, heavily pregnant, lay on her side with her back turned to Wei Luo.
As she was on the verge of falling asleep, Wei Luo leaned over and lightly kissed the back of her neck before intertwining his fingers with hers.
