Reborn Lady - Chapter 403
As their clothes fell away, Yin Hui could sense that Wei Luo seemed to be observing her, and he certainly desired to, otherwise why bother?
Wei Luo placed her on the bed.
Yin Hui, a bride, though she had perused the pamphlet (xoxo education), remained uncertain about how other newlyweds initiated intimacy, so she obediently allowed Wei Luo to guide her.
As Wei Luo pressed down, Yin Hui instinctively embraced him.
It wasn’t until tears welled up that Yin Hui finally opened her eyes. Her slight movement seemed to startle him. Looking up in the dim candlelight, he noticed the tears in her eyes. Unable to clearly discern his expression, Yin Hui turned her head away immediately, not daring to look further.
After requesting water, Yin Hui lay down once more. Her mind was in turmoil, but she pretended to be asleep with her eyes closed.
As he lay beside her, Yin Hui could still hear his slightly erratic breathing.
So, this was it, she realized; this was what happened between husband and wife.
Lost in her thoughts, just as Yin Hui was about to drift off to sleep, he wrapped an arm around her waist and pulled her close.
His lips brushed against her ear.
Yin Hui couldn’t help but grasp his arm as it crossed over her, feeling its strength and power as it pressed her hand to the side.
After a while, Yin Hui heard her own voice, belatedly realizing she had spoken aloud. She covered her mouth in embarrassment.
Wei Luo gently pulled her hand away.
His head rested next to hers, and Yin Hui opened her eyes. She could see Wei Luo’s lashes, his profile swaying gently. His ears were close to her eyes, almost all her sounds directed at him emanated from them.
He must enjoy it, right?
Yin Hui clung tightly to his shoulders, like a rabbit plunged into a lake, fearful of the water monster that lurked beneath. Yet, in order to breathe, she could only cling to him and float on the water.
In the early hours of the next day, Yin Hui awoke in his embrace. If he hadn’t attempted to push her away, she might not have stirred.
“It’s time to get up,” Wei Luo said, looking at her.
Yin Hui glanced out the window; indeed, it was slightly bright outside.
She quickly moved to get ready.
As Wei Luo stood up, the faint morning light enveloped him, outlining the tall and strong youthful frame.
Yin Hui immediately closed her eyes.
He wore his robe and glanced back, his gaze lingering momentarily on her partially exposed shoulders, before heading to the washroom.
Seizing the opportunity, Yin Hui swiftly put on her middle coat. By the time Wei Luo emerged, she was seated at the dressing table, her long, black hair slightly disheveled, and only one side of her flushed face visible.
As they both dressed, Wei Luo proceeded to introduce her to the individuals they would meet later while serving tea.
“Do you remember?” He asked.
Yin Hui nodded eagerly. When she was first betrothed, her grandfather had made her memorize the names of the palace officials. He had even meticulously listed the masters of each courtyard to ensure she didn’t make any mistakes after marriage.
Wei Luo assumed she was well-informed, so he didn’t elaborate further.
After they finished preparing, they set off.
Chengxin Hall was located within the East Sixth Harem. After departing from there, they needed to make their way to Qinzheng Hall.
Yin Hui finally obtained a clear view of the interior of the Yan Palace. The significance of the palace was indeed distinct from that of ordinary wealthy and noble families; here, royal majesty permeated every corner.
Yet, Yin Hui merely glanced at it. As a wealthy lady, she was well aware of the strict protocols governing such places.
King Yan and others awaited them in the side hall. This was King Yan who had led elite soldiers and cavalry to repel the Kingdom of Jin repeatedly. Even before Yin Hui caught sight of anyone, she felt awestruck.
Just before they entered the hall, Wei Luo suddenly grasped her hand.
Yin Hui looked at him in panic.
Without any expression on his face, Wei Luo whispered, “Don’t be afraid.”
Yin Hui glanced at his withdrawn hand and shyly nodded.
After serving tea, Yin Hui sat at a table with Xu Qingwan, Ji Xianxian, and the two girls from the Wei family, sharing breakfast.
Yet, Yin Hui felt distinctly uncomfortable during the meal. Whether it was the polite distance from the Eldest Sister-in-law or the disdainful glances from the Second Sister-in-law, she felt as if she were sitting on pins and needles.
Upon returning to Chengxin Hall, Yin Hui immediately felt a sense of peace wash over her.
However, after Wei Luo accompanied her to Chengxin Hall, he retired to the study and only emerged for lunch. Throughout the meal, he remained silent, likely adhering to the practice of “silence during meals and rest”.
Yin Hui found herself more at ease when he wasn’t present, allowing her to take an afternoon nap.
After dinner, Wei Luo remained in the backyard.
The wedding candles had been extinguished in the new house, and as Yin Hui prepared to turn off the lights, Wei Luo requested that she leave one candle lit. By the time she approached, he was already seated on the bed, his thoughts veiled behind a layer of curtains.
As she neared, Wei Luo drew her into his embrace.
Yin Hui didn’t know whether to speak at the moment, and soon, she lost the inclination to do so altogether. She felt as though she had married a wolf, an insatiable one at that.
Eventually, Yin Hui drifted off to sleep in his arms.
Meanwhile, Wei Luo remained awake, silently observing the person in his embrace.
She was a truly endearing girl. Whenever she looked up timidly, Wei Luo felt an urge to caress her head, and when she cried softly in his ear, he felt compelled to offer her more comfort.
The deal was sealed; as long as she remained gracious and kind, he would treat her well.
In the middle of the night, Wei Luo suddenly woke, realizing that his entire body was exposed to the cool night air of Pingcheng.
Glancing at Madam Yin, he found her wrapped snugly in a quilt, sleeping soundly on the innermost side.
