Reborn Lady - Chapter 396
Wei Ning promptly circled behind Emperor Yongping, deftly pinching his shoulders.
Emperor Yongping turned to Yin Hui and advised, “Since you reside in the palace, you should spend more time talking with your mother.”
Yin Hui responded with a smile, as was expected.
The family lingered with Emperor Yongping for two quarters of an hour before proceeding to Concubine Shun’s Xianfu Hall.
Concubine Shun beamed with delight. Previously, her son and daughter-in-law had lived outside the palace, leaving her to socialize mainly with the other three concubines. But now that her son’s family had moved in, her life had become much more fulfilling. Wei Ning, in particular, brought much joy with her playful antics. While the other three concubines’ children were all outside the palace, Wei Ning remained within, like a little bundle of joy.
In youth, one might compare who received more favor from their man, but with age, the focus shifted to who enjoyed better health and whose children were more dutiful.
Concubine Shun felt she lacked nothing as she looked forward to her future as the Empress Dowager.

Before the Mid-Autumn Festival, the palace organized a ceremony to canonize Prince Wei Luo and Princess Yin Hui.
As the Crown Princess held a prestigious position, second only to the Empress, following the grand ceremony, family members, noblewomen, and the wives of officials above the third rank were all required to proceed to the East Hall to pay their respects to the Crown Princess.
With familiar faces such as the Eldest Princess, Xu Qingwan, and Ji Xianxian, there was no need for excessive formality. However, Yin Hui eagerly anticipated the sight of another familiar face after a prolonged absence.
Eventually, it was the turn of the family members of Marquis Feng Su to enter the hall to pay their respect. Behind Mrs. Feng, followed by Mrs. Liao, came Liao Qiuniang.
Being a noble military general, the Feng family not only held the title of Marquis but also Fen Shu was the Minister of the Ministry of War. Sensing the potential for scrutiny due to his lesser status as a Prince at the time, Wei Luo had refrained from interacting with the Feng family. Consequently, Yin Hui also found herself needing to maintain a distance. Thus, despite her deep concern for Liao Qiuniang’s well-being in Jinling, she could only keep her thoughts to herself, occasionally catching snippets of information from others.
When their eyes met at that moment, Liao Qiuniang, after bowing down, lifted her head to gaze at Yin Hui, tears streaming down her face.
Softly reprimanding her, Mrs. Feng remarked, “Today is a joyous occasion as the Crown Princess is being crowned. Why shed tears?”
No matter how good the relationship was before, with the change of Yin Hui’s status, Liao Qiuniang was rude..
Liao Qiuniang was acutely aware of the potential consequences of her emotional display, yet she found herself unable to restrain her tears. To her, Yin Hui was not just a mere acquaintance but her savior. It was Yin Hui who had extended a helping hand when Liao Qiuniang was in dire straits, assisting her in establishing a food business during her times of poverty. Standing by her side with unwavering support and encouragement, Yin Hui had later recommended her father to join King Yan’s guardhouse, leading to an improvement in her family’s circumstances and providing her with the opportunity to become acquainted with her husband.
Such profound acts of kindness and virtue were etched deeply into Liao Qiuniang’s heart, never to be forgotten.
As Liao Qiuniang’s tears fell, they seemed to wash away the years of separation, transporting Yin Hui back to the day when she had bestowed a wedding gift upon her. In that moment, Liao Qiuniang remained the same brave and optimistic young girl Yin Hui had known.
“I share a special bond with Qiuniang, Madam. Please don’t fault her,” Yin Hui said with a gentle smile as she helped Liao Qiuniang to her feet, addressing Mrs. Feng beside her.
Moved, Mrs. Feng remarked, “Your Majesty is generous. It is a blessing she has accumulated in three lifetimes to be supported by you.”
Yin Hui couldn’t help but feel unworthy of such praise. To her, she had merely helped Liao Qiuniang evade death’s grasp. Her own happiness, she believed, was earned through her own hard work, deserving of sympathy, and the affection of Feng Teng.
Liao Qiuniang had also brought her children along. Despite being younger than Yin Hui, she had already given birth to four: three sons and one daughter. The resemblance between the three sons and Feng Teng was striking. The youngest daughter, just two years old, wore a small knot on the top of her head. With her fair complexion and almond-shaped eyes, she bore a strong resemblance to Liao Qiuniang.
Observing Yin Hui’s fondness for the children, Mrs. Feng took the initiative to introduce them, “Our eldest son, Da Lang, has always been steady and well-behaved since childhood. Er Lang and San Lang, on the other hand, tend to be mischievous and often receive reprimands from their father. As for Niu Niu, she’s still young, so it’s hard to say what her temperament will be like. I hope she takes after her mother.”
Yin Hui observed the Feng family’s eldest son, already fifteen years old. He stood tall and erect like a poplar tree, his gaze restrained, exuding the same dignified aura as Feng Su.
Despite the presence of many esteemed generals in her father-in-law’s circle, Feng Su’s appointment as Minister of the Ministry of War showcased his strategic acumen, proving that his skills extended beyond mere prowess in battle.
The thirteen-year-old Feng Er Lang also displayed a composed demeanor, while the eight-year-old Feng San Lang, glancing around, bore a striking resemblance to Feng Teng.
“How has Uncle Liao been these past few years?” Yin Hui inquired, her concern for Liao Shisan reignited upon seeing the children.
Liao Qiuniang replied with a smile, “Father has been leading troops at the border, and Mother accompanied him. Besides missing the children, everything else is fine.”
With other wives waiting behind them, the mother-in-law and daughter-in-law had to leave.
After a hectic day, Yin Hui fell asleep shortly after retiring to bed.
Returning from his bath, Wei Luo noticed her sleepy yet contented expression. “Are you happy?” He asked, pulling her into his arms as they lay down.
Yin Hui smiled, snuggling against his chest, and replied, “I am. I got to see Qiuniang today.”
Although Wei Luo had never interacted closely with the Feng family, being occupied with court duties, he often encountered Feng Su and his son and shared a sort of unspoken friendship with them. No words were needed; a mere glance sufficed.
While Feng Teng’s gaze was direct and forthright, Feng Su carried a more serious demeanor. On the day when the Emperor ordered his canonization, after the early morning meeting, Feng Su nodded to him from a distance.
Wei Luo understood that Feng Su supported him.
