Reborn Lady - Chapter 360
Wei Luo put on his robe and emerged from the bathroom. Upon entering the main room, he saw Yin Hui sitting on the grand couch in the north. She was still dressed as before, wearing a light blue embroidered magnolia flower beanie, and her long hair was loosely tied behind her back, highlighting her beautiful face.
The closed door of the main room blocked the glaring sun outside, and wisps of mist kept coming out of the ice tripod, making this side much cooler than the bathroom.
Wei Luo sat across from Yin Hui, picked up the teapot, and poured tea.
Yin Hui tilted her head, and finally saw his current appearance clearly. Despite his dark complexion, he appeared increasingly heroic, not resembling a 33-year-old middle-aged man. He looked young, and his body seemed even more slender and muscular than when he was twenty years old.
“Did you just come back from the palace?” Yin Hui asked.
Wei Luo glanced over the tea bowl near her, drank the tea in his mouth, and nodded.
Yin Hui stroked her loose long hair, lowered her eyes, and said, “We waited for you for a long time before falling asleep. Since you came back, why didn’t you wake me up?”
He also thought that he would see the four of them when he got off the carriage, but in the end, he only saw the maids and An Shun’er. He then learned from An Shun’er that they had just fallen asleep.
Wei Luo first went to see his two sons who were sleeping in his room.
He hadn’t seen him for almost a year and a half, but Ah Heng had transformed into a young man. Even in his slumber, his youthful visage exuded a hint of dignity and majesty. Ah Xun had also grown taller, he used to resemble his mother when he was younger, but now he looked a little like him as well.
When he entered the backyard, Wei Luo observed his wife and daughter sleeping in the inner room. They shared similar faces; one was as beautiful as a begonia, while the other resembled a doll.
The mother and daughter were sleeping so soundly that Wei Luo couldn’t bring himself to wake them up. He didn’t linger near the bed for long, fearing that the scent of sweat on his body would disturb their peaceful slumber.
“Ning Ning is still sleeping?” Wei Luo looked at her and asked.
Yin Hui looked at him tenderly and said softly, “Yes, if I weren’t afraid of disturbing her, I would have gone in to comb my hair.”
As she spoke, she ran her fingers through her hair. She saw her own disheveled reflection with her sleeping face and messy hair.
Wei Luo’s gaze followed her movements as he took another sip of tea, then set down the tea bowl and suggested, “In that case, you and I can go to the bathroom to talk.”
The bathroom, situated farthest from the inner room on the east side, seemed the ideal place for the couple to reminisce without disturbing their daughter.
Yin Hui followed him to the bathroom. Wei Luo stood at the door, watching her enter before closing and bolting it shut.
Inside the bathroom, there was a couch with a mat spread over it.
Two quarters of an hour later, the couple lay together on the mat.
Yin Hui’s fingertips left a trace of sweat as they lightly slid across the mat.
Breathing heavily, she turned her head to look at Wei Luo beside her. He did the same, his tanned face sporting a thin layer of red from the continuous physical exertion.
Worried that their children might wake up at any moment, Wei Luo hurried this time. If Yin Hui’s body was fragile, it could easily scatter in his hands.
After catching their breath, Wei Luo carried her to the bathtub.
Finally, the couple could calmly discuss things. Earlier, they had been upset and irritable, but now they could openly address their feelings.
Yin Hui circled around Wei Luo and noticed several new scars on his body, including two pea-sized scars on his face. Although they had faded over several months, they were still closely spaced and visible upon close inspection.
“How did this happen?” Yin Hui asked, gently touching the two small scars.
Wei Luo gently pulled her hand away and explained, “The blunderbuss exploded. Some fragments were splashed.”
Yin Hui’s lips trembled, and tears welled up in her eyes.
If the explosion had occurred closer to him, would he have been killed?
“Okay, it’s all in the past now,” Wei Luo said hurriedly, pulling her into his arms.
Yin Hui leaned against his shoulder. Being close to him at that moment seemed to alleviate her pain, replacing it with the reassurance of her husband’s safe return.
After talking for a while, because Wei Luo’s self-control was not that good, the two came out to wear their clothes.
The maids came in to tidy up the bathroom, and the sound of carrying water finally woke Wei Ning up.
The little girl emerged, rubbing her eyes sleepily, and spotted her mother seated on the couch in the second room, alongside a sun-tanned man.
Wei Ning’s eyes widened in surprise.
Yin Hui chuckled, while Wei Luo cleared his throat and addressed his daughter, who seemed momentarily stunned, “Ning Ning, Father has returned.”
Though Wei Ning was technically seven years old, in reality, she was still a few months away from turning seven, having been born in October.
While memories might not run deep at her age, the familiarity was still there. It was just that her father’s darkened complexion left her momentarily bewildered.
“Father, you’re back!” She exclaimed excitedly.
In response, Wei Ning immediately dashed over and was lifted high by his father.
With their daughter awake and their sons likely to follow suit soon, Yin Hui decided to let the father and daughter have their moment together. She called Yingchun and Mingxia to the inner room to help them with their hair.
Once she finished dressing up and returned, the brothers Wei Heng and Wei Xun had indeed arrived. Although they didn’t seek their father’s affection in the same way as their younger sister, the admiration in their eyes as they looked up at their father was evident.
The family of five gathered together, and with the presence of the children, Wei Luo’s tendency to remain quiet was cured for the moment. He eagerly shared with his three children everything he had seen and heard over the past year.
An Shun’er’s voice came from the yard, and soon Liangxia walked in and said with a smile, “My lord, my lady, the Eldest Princess just sent someone over, saying that she prepared a dinner for the lord, and invited Prince Chu’s family. ”
An Shun’er’s voice resonated from the yard, and soon Liangxia entered with a smile, saying, “My lord, my lady, the Eldest Princess has sent someone over. She’s prepared a dinner for the lord and has invited Prince Chu’s family.”
Yin Hui and Wei Luo exchanged smiles and nodded. “Go quickly and thank the Eldest Princess. Tell her we’ll be there shortly.”
