In a dim room, a dark figure lay motionless on the bed, without any movement for a long time. The cell phone by the bed flickered, indicating that there was a call. The figure moved, picked up the phone with difficulty, and clicked the answer button tremblingly. The next moment, a woman sounded tired and guilty, “Ying, I broke up with Xiang Yang. I will return him to you.”

Su Ying turned over and held the phone in her hand tightly. She was trembling and curled up on the bed, as if finally she couldn’t help but to cry. But because of dehydration, she hadn’t eaten for a long time. Her cry was hoarse and almost inaudible. Su Ying started to feel regret that she came back. 

“Why did she come back? Why not just die in that strange world?”

Just half a year ago, Su Ying had resigned from her job and returned home. She decided to travel and relax before finding her next job, so she signed up for a tour group, alone. Su Ying had her parents and a younger brother in the family. Although her parents always favoured son over daughter, Su Ying had a good temper and wasn’t angry with her parents for that. She took good care of her younger brother. Although she wasn’t highly valued at home, she had a boyfriend who was very affectionate. The two had been dating since college, and it had been five years. Su Ying regarded her boyfriend Xiang Yang as her future marriage partner. In addition to her boyfriend, Su Ying also had a friend Qin Qin who grew up with her.

Su Ying was a very happy person from the bottom of her heart, but all of that has changed after her travel. There was a disaster in the middle of the trip, and the tour bus carrying twenty people rolled down the mountain because of mudslides. In the report, no one survived that disaster. Su Ying, who was also on the bus at that time, thought that she was bound to die, but a miracle happened.

After the bus rolled down the cliff, Su Ying opened her eyes again, only to find that she was not on the bus, but came into a strange world instead. It was a completely different world from what she knew, and she had never seen the creatures that she saw there. Su Ying had lived in that world for nearly half a year, but she always thought about her family, friends and lover. So she tried her best to come back. Finally, under her constant efforts, she found a way back and successfully returned, a year after the bus crash happened.

She was miraculously resurrected from the dead and returned to the world she was familiar with. Seeing the people she knew and cared about, the next story wasn’t as beautiful as Su Ying had imagined. When her parents saw her daughter, they weren’t happy but worried about her appearance.

When Su Ying was deemed dead in that accident, the Su family received a lot of compensation. They used the money to buy a house for their son. Now, Su Ying returned safely, they have to spit the money out again. They would rather lose their daughter and endure that mere sadness than losing the money. Even though she knew that her parents were partial, Su Ying couldn’t bear to hear her mother cry and ask her why she didn’t die outside. What was even more unbearable was that her boyfriend Xiang Yang, who she thought loved her, was with her good friend Qin Qin. In fact, she couldn’t blame them, after all, in their eyes, she was dead. So how many people were willing to waste time on a dead person? Su Ying understood, but what made her heart feel more painful was that Xiang Yang told her something complicated when he saw her.

He said that he liked Qin Qin back in the college itself and it was Qin Qin who said that her best friend, Su Ying, liked him, so she couldn’t be with him anymore. Xiang Yang accepted Su Ying according to Qin Qin’s wishes. Su Ying didn’t know all of that back then. She only remembered that she told her close friend Qin Qin about the person she had a crush on, and then Qin Qin asked her to confess, saying that there would be a good result. So she went, and as Qin Qin said, Xiang Yang accepted her.

Su Ying was never clear about why such an excellent person like Xiang Yang would accept her, but after becoming boyfriend and girlfriend, Xiang Yang treated her very well. Slowly she also began to feel that Xiang Yang actually liked her. Until she came back and saw Xiang Yang and Qin Qin get along this time, Su Ying realized that Xiang Yang’s reluctance to be close to her didn’t mean that he respected her and wanted to wait until after marriage, but because she wasn’t the person Xiang Yang really liked in his heart. After Qin Qin and Xiang Yang broke up, he told Su Ying that Qin Qin wasn’t the one who intervened in between them, but Su Ying was the one who really hindered the lovers.

No one knew what difficulties Su Ying experienced during the period of her disappearance. They didn’t care. Everyone was distressed and embarrassed by her sudden appearance and reached a consensus that Su Ying deserved to die in that disaster. When she came out she casted a shadow on their happy life.

Su Ying had never been such a strong person but the hope of seeing her relatives, friends, and lover once again, made her come back by overcoming many difficulties, but she was blown away by all of them. Such a loss of hope made Su Ying suddenly feel broken, and she laughed at her stupidity.
