“I decided to send you away,” the emperor blurted out.

‘Thank God! I won’t keep this childish act for a long time,’ Zheng Lu thought. The tears of joy poured from his eyes.

Mimi truly felt tired from acting childish all the time. She’s clearly childish too, but not to that extreme. She couldn’t even be serious when the situation needed her to. She must act childish all the time or she will be out of character.

The emperor saw the young prince’s display of emotion, which made the tears well up in his eyes. Both of them cried for different reasons; Zheng Lu from happiness and the emperor from sadness.

“People think you are easy to bully because you are still a kid. This emperor can’t be there to protect you all the time,” he said, trying to convince his son.

‘I know someday you will understand,’ he thought.

“Won’t you be lonely?” Zheng Lu asked, surprising the emperor.

Through the memories, Zheng Lu knew how lonely the emperor felt. He poured all his feelings and struggles for him. He ate with him, joked with him. He could truly be himself around the young prince.

“I…I…such a silly child,” The emperor poked Zheng Lu’s forehead with clear adoration.

‘I was happy, but now I feel bad! He’s really a great father,’ the young prince thought, looking at him.

“Tomorrow you will depart. I will talk to Concubine Chun Hua about it,” he said, wiping his own tears and left without looking back.

Zheng Lu pouted, ‘Why do all of them leave after they say the last word! That’s not fair.”

Back in the emperor’s chamber, Concubine Chun Hua was pacing around. She clenched her hands in frustration when she saw the emperor himself coming in.

The emperor was surprised when he found her there.

“What’s wrong?” he asked in worry.

“Your Highness!” she exclaimed, bowing in respect.

“Please send Lu somewhere safe!” she said, as she fell to the ground in defeat.

“Did something happen?” he asked her.

“Your Highness! I only want to protect my son,” Chun Hwa replied.

“Raise! There is no need for such a display! This emperor already decided to send him away,” he informed her.

“Really? When are we going to depart?” she asked, standing on her feet in delight.

“You are not leaving with him,” he stated.

“What do you mean? He can’t survive on his own!” she said horrified.

“I am sure you were a great mother! But he needs to grow up on his own,” he looked away, feeling guilty.

“Where to?” she asked.

“To the Feng Empire. Master Gu will take care of him,” he simply stated.

Concubine Chun Hua sighed in relief. Master Gu was Zheng Lu’s grandfather. He would be safer there, and she could visit him whenever she wanted.

“He will depart before sunrise,” he stated, leaving no place for objection.
