Forcefully Marrying the Male Lead - Chapter 34
Wen Renruo gently cupped Yu Sheng’s pale face in both hands and asked softly. Yu Sheng took a deep breath and finally recovered for the moment. She didn’t even want to speak. The child had been fine for more than a month, but now, in the second month, it had become noisy.
Yu Sheng simply shook her head and closed her eyes to rest. Wen Renruo had never seen her this weak before, which made him all the more anxious. He would rather see her lively and energetic than this.
He squatted down in front of her, then picked her up and carried her to the sofa. Yu Sheng did not resist but felt relieved. Wen Renruo understood her much better than Wen Renyu—she didn’t need to say a word.
He padded the sofa and helped Yu Sheng recline against it. Then he poured a cup of hot water.
“Drink some,” he said, holding the spoon to her lips.
Yu Sheng knew it was not the time to be stubborn, so she opened her mouth and drank it.
Wen Renruo couldn’t help but sigh. Even though he was an excellent doctor, gynecology wasn’t his specialty—he only knew the basics.
“I’m fine, don’t worry,” Yu Sheng said, trying to comfort him. Wen Renruo glanced at her, then turned to the kitchen. “Auntie Wang, she looks very uncomfortable. How can we make her feel better?” he asked with concern.
It was the first time Aunt Wang saw Wen Renruo so flustered, and she was a little surprised. She was preparing a tonic soup for Yu Sheng—she hadn’t eaten at all, and her body needed nourishment.
“I’ll make her some fresh ginger juice. She’ll feel better after drinking it. I did the same thing when Madam was pregnant with you,” Aunt Wang said with a touch of nostalgia. Wen Renruo, listening, was moved.
Privately, Aunt Wang only referred to Wen Renruo’s mother as ‘Madam’, which of course could not be heard by the current Madam Wen.
While working in the kitchen, Aunt Wang glanced at him and smiled, “Your younger brother has caught up with you, and you’re about to become an uncle. When will you have a girlfriend?”
Aunt Wang was always concerned about Wen Renruo. He had been outstanding since he was young, and no one needed to worry about him. But he was unlike other young people nowadays.
Wen Renruo smiled bitterly. If Aunt Wang knew he was actually going to be a father, he didn’t know what she would think.
“I’m not in a hurry. Don’t worry, Aunt Wang,” he replied softly.
Aunt Wang sighed, knowing that young people nowadays didn’t like to settle down early, so she didn’t say more.
Wen Renyu didn’t expect to have slept so soundly the previous night—it was entirely beyond his expectations. He hadn’t thought of anything, and it was much better than he had imagined. Although that wasn’t the wedding night he had pictured, he had never imagined it would pass like that.
It seemed a bit pathetic, but at least it didn’t repulse him. Seeing that Yu Sheng was no longer in the room, he quickly got ready and left. What happened the previous night was still vivid in his mind, and he was worried about Yu Sheng.
He truly feared that if she left his sight even for a while, something would happen to her. When Wen Renyu rushed out, he saw Yu Sheng leaning on the sofa, clearly unwell.
He quickly ran over and sat down next to her. “What’s wrong with you?” he asked.
Yu Sheng opened her eyes to look at him, then turned her head and closed them again. She didn’t even want to speak. Just as Wen Renyu began to panic, Wen Renruo emerged with the fresh ginger juice.
“She’s having morning sickness,” Wen Renruo explained.
Wen Renyu knew it could happen during pregnancy, but Yu Sheng had seemed fine until now.
“She’ll feel better after drinking this,” Wen Renruo said calmly, noting Wen Renyu’s confused expression.
In fact, when he saw Wen Renyu, Wen Renruo paused for a moment. With her legitimate husband present, he knew it was time to step aside.
Wen Renruo knew they were husband and wife, and he had no place between them. But even knowing that, the feeling was hard to bear. It felt as if someone were asking him to hand her over, and he couldn’t help but feel reluctant.
He was even resistant—if only Wen Renyu hadn’t shown up. Realizing these thoughts, Wen Renruo was startled. He knew it was wrong and quickly forced himself to suppress them.
Wen Renyu didn’t doubt him and took the ginger juice from his hand. He naturally held Yu Sheng in his arms and began to feed her. He didn’t think too deeply about it, but the sight left Wen Renruo stunned.
Yes, Wen Renyu could hold her—but Wen Renruo couldn’t. Wen Renruo clenched his fists tightly, yet for some reason, he couldn’t take his eyes off Yu Sheng.
Wen Renyu had never taken care of anyone before. In fact, Wen Renruo worried whether he’d do it properly, whether he might hurt Yu Sheng.
Though Wen Renyu’s movements were clumsy, he made an effort to be careful and gentle.
“Come on, Xiao Sheng, drink some.” Seeing Yu Sheng frowning, Wen Renyu hurriedly coaxed, “Just drink a little, you will feel better.”
Perhaps these words made Yu Sheng waver, she still opened her mouth and let Wen Renyu feed her.
Wen Renruo was also relieved, although the intimacy between Wen Renyu and Yu Sheng was a little irritating to him.
Wen Renruo lowered his eyes in despair. With Wen Renyu there, he should leave and not disturb the couple.
However, Wen Renruo was unable to move at all, and Yu Sheng gradually recovered.
“I’m sorry to have made you worry,” Yu Sheng apologized. Although she was using her child, Yu Sheng was not the kind of person who would make a fuss about being pregnant, and wish that the whole family would revolve around her.
But she didn’t know that pregnancy could be so troubling. Yu Sheng took the cup from Wen Renyu’s hand, held it in her own hand and continued to drink it in small sips.
“Thank you, Brother Ruo,” Yu Sheng looked up at Wen Renruo and said.
When Wen Renruo saw Yu Sheng’s smile, he subconsciously breathed a sigh of relief. Although Yu Sheng’s face was still a little pale, she was much better than before. After Wen Renruo left, Wen Renyu realized that something was wrong between himseld and Yu Sheng.
He actually held her in his arms for so long, Wen Renyu instinctively let her go quickly. Afterwards, he felt that he had overreacted and it was not right to treat his wife that way. Not knowing whether Yu Sheng would feel hurt, he secretly glanced at her.
Yu Sheng lowered her eyes and drank the fresh ginger juice obediently.
Wen Renyu could not tell her emotions. He pursed his lips and felt a sense of guilt, but it was not so easy to apologize about it. If he had not been so shocked before, Wen Renyu would never be a person who would bow his head and apologize easily.
However, although Wen Renyu didn’t say it, he apologized with his actions. When Aunt Wang handed the soup to him, he immediately took it, blew it, and fed Yu Sheng diligently. Yu Sheng didn’t feel embarrassed at all, and naturally enjoyed Wen Renyu’s service.
Seeing that Yu Sheng was able to drink something, Wen Renyu felt relieved. Wen Renyu regretted oversleeping that morning. In fact, he didn’t get up too late, but Wen Renyu felt that he should have gotten up earlier.
Yu Sheng was in pain while carrying his child, but he was still sleeping soundly. What kind of nonsense was that? Her pregnancy was much harder.
“After you finish drinking, go to sleep for a while, okay?” Wen Renyu asked softly.
Pregnant women should sleep more, Wen Renyu thought that Yu Sheng might feel better if she slept for a while. Yu Sheng nodded gently. No matter how many plans she had in her mind, she didn’t have a good body.
Yu Sheng was just thankful that she had already arranged it before she became ill. For Yu Sheng, marriage was just a means, and she still had a lot to do.
Yang Sui’s identity was also very interesting. She was indeed a Cinderella, because she was the youngest daughter of another big family, the Liang family, but she was lost when she was young. The Liang family had been looking for her for many years. If there was no such identity behind her, how could Mrs. Wen and Mr. Wen accept her so quickly and give up Yu Sheng?
After all, they value their own interests, and would not be moved by the true feelings between Wen Renyu and Yang Sui.
