Chu Qianxun was attending a wedding. Many people were sitting around the bonfire. Everyone gathered some simple food, mixed them and simmered them in a huge iron pot. It was regarded as a marriage bonfire where the newlyweds celebrated together.

In the dark age, such a lively scene was very rare.

But Chu Qianxun clearly knew that she was dreaming, because in her memory, most of the people around her who were talking and laughing had already died.

The bride’s name was Lan Ze. She was a capable female ability holder and the captain of their team. She was a gentle and strong woman who took care of everyone, including Chu Qianxun. At the moment, she was smiling, raising her head to kiss her groom.

The bridegroom’s face was blurred in Chu Qianxun’s eyes. She no longer remembered the appearance of the man, she could only see him wearing a silver-white ring.

The girl sitting next to Chu Qianxun looked at the newlyweds kissing in the light of the campfire with envy.

“It’s great. In these times, they could still find love.” She took Chu Qianxun’s arm and leaned her head on her shoulder, “When will we meet such a man, Qianxun?”

Chu Qianxun turned her head to look at her. The girl with the slightly freckled face was very familiar. She remembered that this was a good friend of hers, whose name was Qiuyue.

But before long, she cut off her head with her own hands.

The picture changed, and the battlefield just ended before her eyes. The residual limbs of the demons and the corpses of the companions were scattered around the camp. The precious food that had not had time to be eaten fell to the ground, mixed with blood and pus, and could no longer be eaten.

When the demons attacked, it didn’t matter whether they were having a wedding or eating. Humans seemed to be accustomed to such battles too. The survivors cleaned the battlefield silently, buried the remains of their comrades, and collected available supplies. As long as a person was alive, life would continue.

Chu Qianxun reached out to separate a cluster of bushes.

Not far away, there was a man sitting under a cypress tree with ice. No, it should be the corpse of a man.

The corpse sat quietly with his back against the tree trunk, with his head down. His lower body was gone. The whole person was sitting in a bloody stain. The only slightly clean left hand was hanging on the ground, on his finger was a silver ring.

The branches of the cypress moved gently, and a canopy of half-melted snow fell on the head of the person under the tree, and the wet snow water ran down his cheeks, as if he was crying.

“Qianxun, what did you find?”

Lan Ze’s gentle voice came from behind Chu Qianxun.

She was shocked and subconsciously wanted to block her captain’s sight, but it was too late.

Lan Ze pushed her away, and the bride who was still immersed in happiness not long ago rushed forward, knelt in a pool of blood, and hugged the body of her lover. She trembled but couldn’t cry.

In these kinds of times, why would they find someone to love? Wasn’t it more tragic when parting?

Chu Qianxun watched the silent tragedy with a kind of indifference of an isolated bystander.

The bridegroom’s head fell into Lan Ze’s arms, and Chu Qianxun finally saw his face clearly.

Cold, pale, and lifeless. That face slowly changed into Ye Peitian’s face.

Chu Qianxun woke up suddenly from the dream. She sat up from the bed, stretched out her hand to cover her forehead, and heard her heart beating hard.

The sky was bright outside the window, and the room was silent.

Ye Peitian was beside her, sleeping soundly. A little bit of morning light through the blue curtains, scattered on his beautiful collarbone and smooth shoulders, arousing people’s imagination.

Chu Qianxun stretched out her hand and touched his neck along his shoulder, feeling the pulsating blood vessels and warm body temperature there, and finally heaved a sigh of relief.

She tiptoed out of bed, got dressed, walked out of the room, and gently closed the door.

At the door she ran into Gao Yan, who happened to be leaving.

When Gao Yan saw Chu Qianxun coming out of Ye Peitian’s room early in the morning, she walked downstairs next to her, and said, “Did you eat Xiao Ye?”

Chu Qianxun smiled helplessly.

“What’s with your expression?” Gao Yan asked strangely, “Does Xiao Ye taste bad?”

“No, he is very good, so I overdone it by accident,” Chu Qianxun blamed herself.

Gao Yan tutted twice and looked at her contemptuously, “Yes, you don’t feel sorry for him. Xiao Ye has just been resurrected.”

Chu Qianxun stopped and said, “Sister Yan, when he stopped breathing in my arms at that time, I suddenly felt a little scared.”

“I have a crazy idea. I want to kill people, I want to cut Fu Yingyu into pieces, I want to chop all the b*stards in Goose City into meat sauce. I thought at that time, as long as he wakes up, I will immediately take him and let him only belong to me from then on.” Chu Qianxun lowered her head and stared at her hands, as if they were stained with blood, “Sister Yan, I am different from you. My heart has been soaked in sewage for too long. Maybe with such an excuse, I will become the same person as Fu Yingyu.”

Gao Yan took Chu Qianxun’s shoulders and hugged her.

“Qianxun, you can’t say that about yourself.” Gao Yan’ said, “You are not wrong, it is those people who are wrong. If I see that b*stard next time, I will help you cut off her wings into pieces.”

Chu Qianxun’s head was placed on Gao Yan’s shoulder. A pair of soft arms patted her back gently, the gentle sound of relief rang in her ears, and the bit of violence and anxiety that filled her heart gradually melted.

Chu Qianxun blinked, feeling a little uncomfortable, and broke free from Gao Yan’s arms.

“I’m all right, Sister Yan.” She said embarrassedly, “I don’t know how I suddenly became weak.”

“What’s wrong with that? You seem like a normal person when you act weak occasionally. You are not alone, you have so many friends. There is no need to arm yourself all the time.” Gao Yan took Chu Qianxun’s hand, “Let’s go to the market and relax.”
