Nan He gritted his teeth. He felt the cervical spine and the bones around his body misaligned a little bit, tearing and recovering, tearing and recovering again. For the first time, he truly felt the pain of entering the skeletal phase.

This process was something every young Sirius must go through. There was no safe environment to survive the time of weakness. So he was more aggressive than his former companions and the torture that he must endure was more severe.

During the period, he must wash his body with waves of tremendous Qi, slowly get rid of the shackles of the original body and become a higher-level shell, called the skeletal body. A young wolf who had not thoroughly experienced the skeletal phase, no matter how large the body was, couldn’t be regarded as a truly mature Sirius.

Nan He closed his eyes tightly and enduredf the torture. His senses became dull and confused in this excessive pain. Sometimes, he felt that his body became extremely large in confusion and sometimes he felt that his body was shrinking infinitely.

The boundless darkness and pain entangled his body and spirit. There was only danger and cold around him, no companions.

Outside the cave was a roaring north wind. The enemy may find his place at any time, rush in and tear him to pieces.

The Sirius star was so far away from him that he couldn’t even see the slightest brilliance of the day. He was just a lone wolf left in the world. Even if he successfully got over the wreckage stage with difficulty, he would still have to spend thousands of years on this continent alone.

Nan He remembered the day when he was a child in a daze.

It was a shining galaxy night, with the moon and stars shining in the sky, a little Sirius galloped under the moonlight with all his strength. He managed to escape from the human cage and with all his pain and grievance, he ran desperately toward the distant Celestial Wolf mountain.

The vast sky trembled and a full moon appeared.

Two round bright moons like mirror reflections corresponded to each other in the night sky. The jade rabbits were in pairs and the silver was scattered all over the world.

Nan He’s father said that in hundreds of thousands of years, the day of the two moons would arrive. The phenomenon which had never occured came without warning.

Little Nan He stopped under the stars, staring blankly at the two huge bright moons above his head.

A fragile silver light rose from the distant Celestial Wolf mountain and the silver brilliance of the dots floated high and flew slowly toward the night sky.

They lined up in a neat line and swam past the silver plate-like full moon. Although they looked so small because they were too far away, Nan He still clearly saw that they were his parents, brothers and clansmen.

He ran on the ground with his small limbs, screaming with all his strength. But they were distant stars, so no one could hear the call of a little Sirius on the vast ground.

The figures of the tribesmen gradually became smaller through the bright full moon and disappeared into the boundless galaxy.

Like a sudden appearance, the mirror moon in the sky disappeared leaving only a lonely full moon in the boundless night sky. Other than the wolves on Celestial Wolf mountain disappearing from the world, there seemed to be no difference in the world.

Only the little silver Sirius, trembling with almost collapsed limbs, lowered his head and panted. He slowly walked toward the Celestial Wolf mountain range where his family members were no longer there.

Nan He opened his eyes. His messy hair was soaked with sweat. The sun shining from the entrance of the cave hit the ground in front of him and a golden feather in the sun was moved by the breeze and turned slightly.

His body hurt so much that he could hardly hold it anymore.

But he didn’t want to give up. The feathers hadn’t been placed outside the door of her yard and he wanted to take a quiet look at that person again.

Thinking of the person’s smile, his pain eased a little. The person faintly sat in the sunlight before him, stretched out her hand from the beam and touched his head.

“Does it hurt? Don’t move, I’ll apply some medicine on it.”

Nan He hummed and opened his eyes again. The figure in front of him had disappeared, leaving only a hazy spot of light.

A clear voice sounded from all sides of the cave, “Wait, I will give you delicious mutton soup later.”

“Osmanthus candy, it’s very sweet, do you want to eat it?”

“Don’t be afraid. I drew a golden arrow spell. It won’t hurt anymore soon.”

Nan He closed his eyes in the groggy, sweet spring-like chanting of sounds.

The sound continued to linger in the dim tree hole, soothing his painful body.

…

Yuan Xiang tossed the newly discovered “printing” talisman technique under the tree in the courtyard.

She drew the talisman, pillars supporting heaven and so on on the yellow paper and waved to Li Yu, “Come, Li Yu, you also try it.”

Li Yu jumped onto the table, took off his little boots, stepped forward with his small chicken paws on the cinnabar box and made several scarlet paw prints on the talisman paper.

Yuan Xiang made a sword gesture, put a yellow talisman in the air and chanted, “Hurry, hurry, daoist incantations.”

The talisman fell on Wu Yuan, puffing out into a small wisp of smoke, only to hide Wu Yuan’s small tail that became invisible. Wu Yuan was very happy. He jumped up and turned around looking for his invisible tail to play.

Yuan Xiang laughed, “Come on, Liyu, let’s do it again. Let’s see if we can make half of Wu Yuan’s body disappear.”

Li Yu lifted his feet and was about to imprint his paw on the yellow talisman, but retracted his paws and moved his eyes. Then he stretched his neck and whispered to Yuan Xiang, “He came… he came again.”

Yuan Xiang turned her face and looked at the silent courtyard gate.
