Demon King's Repayment - chapter 21
The one who laughed loudly was a wretched mage. He twisted his sloppy goatee and looked at the prey in the cage with a greedy light in his eyes, “Or he could be an apostle. From then on, I could reach heaven. With the wolf being my servant, when walking around the world, I will have more respect but it’s a bit wasteful.”
“Sirius of such a small size needed so much effort to catch. If it was a little bigger, I am afraid we wouldn’t be able to catch it,” the one who said that was a brawny man whose face was scratched by Nan He. With three bone deep scars, his heart was full of anger.
“Taoist you are right, but be careful not to let him regain his strength and escape. Let me add a few more holes to him and see how he runs.”
A sharp eviscer protruded through the gap in the cage and the people outside the cage were playing around and hurting the little Sirius.
…
“What’s the matter?” Early in the morning, Yuan Xiang, who came out dressed in clothes, saw the dying little wolf in the array.
After a whole night, not only did his injury not get better, but it became more serious because of repeated electric shocks.
The heavenly array arranged on the periphery showed signs of being shaken many times.
“Can’t you see such a big four-pillar heavenly array? Did you bump into it with your eyes closed? How many times did you bump it?”
Yuan Xiang lifted him from the ground and found that his size got significantly smaller than when he first met her. He could fill the entire basket, but was only not much bigger than a two-handed palm at the moment.
“Let go of me… despicable human,” Nan He opened his eyes and said tiredly.
Yuan Xiang realized that he wanted to escape while she was sleeping. In order to be able to escape from there, he wanted to break her array at the expense of his injuries.
The winter morning was very cold, with white mist and biting wind. The little wolf in her hands had lost his normal heat.
Yuan Xiang hugged him into the house, re-drew a spirit gathering array on the fire kang and placed the soft hair ball on the warm fire kang(a heatable brick bed).
Seeing the little white wolf curled up in a ball on the kang, Yuan Xiang’s heart began to hesitate.
At first, she wanted to make this wolf demon her apostle, but he obviously was a proud soul. He struggled with his life when she imprisoned him in the array. If she took advantage of his weakness and forced him to sign a contract and treat him as a servant, he would resist.
He might rather die.Â
At breakfast, Yun Niang brought a bowl of warm milk for Yuan Xiang.
“Drink while it’s hot, don’t you like this? It’s rare to see it at the market in the morning.”
Yuan Xiang was very happy. She liked to drink milk, but in the era, there were no cows that specifically provide milk. It wasn’t so easy to drink milk.
“Where is the new dog? I didn’t see him there when I passed by in the morning,” Yun Niang asked her.
“Dog? Well, it was too cold last night, so I took him back to the house.”
Nan He had been in a coma and hadn’t eaten since the previous day. So she got a half bowl of milk and brought it back to her room. She gently opened the door, wanting to see if Little Furry woke up.
The situation in the room startled her, causing her to slam the door reflexively.
Yuan Xiang blinked against the door panel and only after a moment did she realize what she had just seen at a glance.
There was a man lying on the kang in the room. The man was slightly curled up, with his back facing the door, his skin was fair, his legs were slender, his long slightly curly silver hair was scattered on his shoulders and two hairy ears emerged from the silver hair drooping listlessly. His scarred back bent into an arc, with a large fluffy tail at the end.
Was this Nan He?
Yuan Xiang reacted, sorted her emotions and when she opened the door again, it was as if everything she saw was just a phantom and the figure on the Kang had disappeared. Yuan Xiang rubbed her eyes, only to see a small silver wolf in the pile of blankets raising his head and staring at her vigilantly.
Because of the excessive depletion of Qi, Nan He in a coma subconsciously transformed himself into a human form that was most Qi efficient in the human world. When the door opened, he woke up, shook his head, immediately got rid of his most disgusting appearance and turned back into a wolf.
Did such a small cub become mature after being transformed into a human form? Although the figure that just passed by was very young, with a sense of youth that blurred the line between a teenager and an adult, no matter how one looked at him at the time, it was absolutely difficult to connect him with such a small cub.
Yuan Xiang dragged the milk onto a tray and placed it in front of Nan He.
“You should be hungry? Eat something.”
Xiao Nan He turned his head away and didn’t even look at the steaming food in front of him.
Yuan Xiang didn’t care too much, took a book and sat on the railing of the eaves outside the house to read it. The door of the house was open. This position was a safe distance away from the kang in the house and he could remain in her sight. Yuan Xiang drew a piece of green grass on the ground and dangled it in her mouth. Her eyes fell on the pages of the book all the time. In fact, all her attention was on the situation in the house.
In the eyes of humans, the appearance of demons was mostly two extremes, ones were weird and terrifying and the others were delicate and perfect.
