Daddy is the Big Boss - Chapter 60

After her training, Chen Daiyu hurried off to the main mansion and got changed. She was going to spend time with her father.

They went off in their car and got something to eat. 

Chen Feng came up to Chen Daiyu with an ice cream cone as they continued their walk down the mall. 

Chen Daiyu made Chen Feng promise they would do something special at least once a month, if his job permits it.

This month they were going to a mall that had just opened. It had a water park inside, along with a bunch of other attractions that Chen Diayu could not wait to explore. Though before they could get too far in, Chen Daiyu spotted a familiar figure in her peripheral view. 

She let go of her dad’s hand and approached to see what was happening.

“You got me the wrong flavor you dumbass, this has peanuts in it.”

It was that kid who had the birthday party again, though she couldn’t care enough to remember his name. Yet that wasn’t what caught her attention.

“I already told you, it was the closest they had to what you wanted.”

She was quite proud to see Hou Shanxi standing up for himself at last. 

The birthday party kid didn’t say anything, but had the gall to throw the ice cream at Hou Shanxi. 

“Well it is not what I wanted. Haven’t you understood where you stand? You are nothing, the only reason you are allowed to be here is so i can order you around and your father permits it. So do your job!”

Chen Daiyu was going to intervene when she noticed her dad had long reached her side and heard everything had happened. Sensing Chen Daiyu’s intention to help the child that was being bullied he signaled to her to stay back.

He simply came up to the child, took the ice cream off his face and patted his head. 

“What’s your name?”

Hou Shanxi looked up wearily to the unknown adult, he felt that this man’s eyes looked familiar but replied nonetheless.

“H-Hou Shanxi.”

A brief flash of light passed through Chen Feng’s eyes.

“Do you know my daughter, Chen Daiyu?”

Once Chen Daiyu’s name was mentioned, Hou Shanxi perked up, while the birthday brat tensed up. Both looked around in anticipation and located her at the same time. The birthday brat tried to approach her, earning him a dirty eye from both father and daughter. 

Ignoring him, Chen Daiyu went up to Hou Shanxi and smiled at him.

“How are you?”

Hou Shanxi simply smiled back, some ice cream was still melting on his face. Seeing this, Chen Daiyu frowned.

“Come with us.”

She took his hand and dragged him back to the ice cream shop, after a few napkins and some sweets, Chen Daiyu and Hou Shanxi were chatting happily. 

“What happened after the birthday party, were you sick for a long time? I didn’t even see you at the library.”

Hou Shanxi looked down without responding for a while.

“I had … a very bad cold,” but he didn’t elaborate further.

“I can’t believe you actually stood up to that brat, it was so satisfying.” Before this, he couldn’t even look back at that brat, Chen Daiyu was satisfied with her lacky laughed a little but quickly changed to a serious expression, “except for the ice cream part. you should’ve thrown it at him as well.”

Hou Shanxi smiled shyly and said , “noted.”

While they continued walking, Chen Daiyu suddenly got an idea.

“Why don’t you come back home with us? You could stay over for the rest of the break!”

Hou Shanxi seemed to like the idea, “I would have to ask my dad.”

“I’ll tell your dad.” Chen Feng, who had been walking behind them, cut in.

“You know his dad?” Chen Daiyu asked in surprise. Chen Feng gave a nod.

“Then let’s do it!”

The three of them continued to look at the various stores in the mall, until Chen Daiyu and Hou Shanxi were exhausted. 

They were all on their way back to the Chen mansion right away, they had bought Hou Shanxi some clothes to use while he stayed with them. 

Once in the mansion, Chen Feng had the servants prepare him a room and informed the family of their temporary guest.
