Chapter 47 – Du Lin’s Party (8)

Fu Lihua had already stood up by the time Chen Daiyu got back to her and did a double take of the little girl that sat next to her. 

She didn’t look like much, no elegance and a sharp mouth. But there was something about the way she carried herself that made Fu Lihua interested in her. 

“I am fine.” 

“Some swimming lessons would do you good.” Chen Daiyu said jokingly.

“Yeah,” Fu Lihua replied and smiled a bit.

Soon they heard someone approaching them.

“Young Miss Chen?”

“Yes?” Chen Daiyu turned to see a woman in a maids outfit, from the party..

“Miss Chen are you alright?!?” The maid quickly tried to help them but was refused by Chen Daiyu’s glare. This made the maid shiver and felt that the glare was somewhat familiar.

The maid composed herself and remembered what she was there for, “Mr. Chen told me to ask you and Young Master Shan to head home ahead of him, Young Master Shan is waiting for you in the car.”

“How long has it been?”

“No more than two incese sticks have gone.”

“Ok, give me one moment.”

Before they left for the party, Chena feng reminded her that only few people you can trust in that party, thus if Chen Feng wanted to send her a servant, they would need a code to distinguish friends from foe. That was one of them. 

Chen Diayu looked back at Fu Lihua, “it was nice to meet you, I’m Chen Diayu.”

“A pleasure.” Fu Lihua regained her previous expression, the difference is that she was currently drenched.

“If your family asks you why you are wet, tell them that the faucet on the second floor’s bathroom was broken” Chen Daiyu winked at her and left, leaving Fu Lihua dazed.

The maid walked her all the way to the back, where there was a balck car waiting for her. 

“Young Master Shan is inside.”  

“Thank you, on second thought, please provide the girl that was with me a change of clothes, otherwise she will probably catch a cold.”

“Of course Young Miss.”

Chen Diayu got into the car and the woman left.

“Yu Yu, are you okay? Did anyone bully you? What happened to you?” Shan Yijun was immediately surprised by her drenched appearance. 

She shook her head and said the same excuse.

Shan Yijun gave her his coat, thinking that she might be cold. Touched, Chen Daiyu thanked him and the silence returned. The chauffeur started driving, both Shan YIjun and Chen Diayu were quiet. 

Chen Daiyu caught herself worrying about a certain foolish kid that had passed out after his temperature rose.

She was once again troubled by how his family and staff seemed to treat him. It was all so cold and uncaring. Thinking of his naive and trustful attitude, she felt they were taking advantage of him. 

The car suddenly stopped in the middle of the road and there was a knock on the door. The chauffeur rolled down the window to reveal Chen Feng, but unlike his previous kept appearance, his suit was messy, as if he had been running around.

He got into the car and sat down next to Chen Diayu, before sitting her on his lap.

“Why are you soaked?” Chen Feng’s surroundings were suddenly much colder. So cold that Chen Daiyu felt chill.

“The faucet had probably grown mold, it broke.” Chen Daiyu cuddled up to her dad. 

“Then isn’t it already time to clean it?” Chen  Feng patted her head, already thinking about who would suffer for whatever happened to his daughter. 

“Yeah” Chen Daiyu snuggled to his shoulder.

Chen Diayu peacefully fell asleep in her dad’s embrace, all the way home.

Hou Shanxi laid in an old bed, shivering. The windows in his old room were left open, letting the wind in. 

The room was big, but with no furniture besides a bed and study desk. And despite having a burning fever, none came to nurse him nor close the windows.

Cold and burning, Huo Shanxi shivered and did not know when his suffering would end…
