Chapter 46 – Du Lin’s Party (6) 

The ‘doll’ glared at Chen Daiyu, but it lacked any true hostility. The little girl just seemed cold and lofty. 

“Don’t mind me, I only wish to sit down and rest, my feet are sore from running around.” Chen Daiyu said as she smiled at the indifferent little girl on the bench. She neither declined nor agreed, so she just climbed the bench and plopped herself on it.

The little girl eyed her weirdly, Chen Daiyu’s actions were neither elegant nor exquisite. She didn’t focus on looking refined, which startled the little girl.

Chen Daiyu didn’t know what caused the little girl to stare intently at her, but she paid her no mind. They sat there in peace without talking to each other. It wasn’t awkward, it was simply peaceful

Chen Daiyu had a good impression of the little girl.

But their peace was soon interrupted by a pair of rash footsteps, someone was coming towards the pond. 

“Oh, look who it is, little miss illegitimate daughter.” Liu Mei spotted Chen Diayu sitting on the bench and walked towards her, however she did not notice the other girl on the bench, who now had a displeased face.

Chen Diayu looked back to see Liu Mei and one of her lackies. They had mocking expressions and looked like they were up to no good. 

“Why did you leave the party? The fun was just getting started.” Just as Liu Mei was thinking of ways to drag Chen Daiyu back to the party and humiliate her, a rustle of dry leaves being crushed were heard. They suddenly panicked thinking it was adults.

Only then did they notice the other girl on the bench, they clicked their tongue and the fear disappeared.

“Hmph, who is this? Isn’t she from the family of upstarts? What is she even doing here?” Although she knew the reason, Liu Mei still asked mockingly to her friend.

“Hahaha, since their family is only an upstart, she was too humiliated to join our party, why did she even come?” Her lackey answered.

“What was she even called?” Liu Mei pretended not to remember.

“Fu Lihua.” The lackey didn’t understand the mocking.

Fu Lihua didn’t seem affected and swung open a fan on her hand and covered half of her face.

She gave Liu Mei an arrogant look that as if speaking to her would sully her mouth.

Liu Mei understood and got angry.

“You bitch! You even dare to come here knowing that your family is an upstart?!?” Liu Mei exploded.

“What’s wrong with being an upstart? Unlike people who claim to be nobles in modern society but still remain uncivil and uneducated,” Fu Lihua scoffed as she hid a smirk behind her fan.

Liu Mei could not stand to be insulted like that and impulsively ran to push Fu Lihua. 

Chen Daiyu was surprised and stood up from the bench. She tried to stop them before they reached the side of the pond, which was a bit deep, but both ended up being pushed into the pond. Liu Mei barely managed to stay on the land.

Fu Lihua struggled to stay afloat while Chen Diayu barely kept her face above surface level. In a panic, Fu Lihua tried grabbing Chen Daiyu to stay afloat, causing them both to sink. 

That’s when Liu Mei and her lackey began to panic.

“Liu Mei, what should we do?!?” Her lackey grabbed her in panic.

Liu Mei pushed her away and shouted at her before running away.

At extreme pressure, the lackey decided to run away too. They were just kids after all, if they did something wrong that they didn’t know how to fix it, they would just run away.

At some point in their struggle, Chen Daiyu grabbed Fu Lihua’s flinging hands and managed to drag her to the shore. 

Both of them coughed and panted when they were finally on solid ground, Chen Diayu got herself together quickly and went to help Fu Lihua up. After making sure she was ok, she breathed a sigh of relief.

Chen Daiyu looked at the other two’s previous location but they were already gone, she scoffed at their cowardice and immediately looked back at Fu Lihua. 

“Are you ok?”
