Chapter 45 – Du Lin’s Party (5)

Back in the party, a maid came up to Chen Feng and whispered something in his ear, he nodded and looked back at the people he was with.  

“You’ll have to excuse me, it seems my daughter needs my help.” Before anyone could reply, he turned around and went towards the kid’s party. 

“He must really care about her.”

“He really does.” Du Hao was glad Chen Feng retreated, without anyone to stop him he bid the group goodbye and went to check what the disturbance in the back was.

Unbeknownst to them, once Chen Feng was out of sight he actually headed towards the back of the mansion. He walked through the halls as if he knew them by heart. 

He walked out through a servants door and met the maid that had come to him earlier.

“Is everything in place?”

“Yes, sir.”

“Make sure my daughter and Yijun are in the car before we start.”

The woman nodded and left swiftly. 

She was actually one of the Chen family’s servants. Du Hao had to hire extra staff to help organize the party, allowing Chen Feng to sneak in a few of his people.

She found Shan Yijun pacing back and forth in front of the girl’s bathroom.

“Young Master Shan, Master Feng asks that you and the Young Miss go to the car.”

Shan Yijun looked back up in a bit of a panic after recognizing the woman as one of the staff at their house.

“Where is the Young Miss?”

The woman looked at Shan Yijun with concern. 

“Someone spilled a drink on her, she said she was going to the bathroom, but hasn’t come back yet.” Shan Yijun looked down in shame, his uncle had tasked him with making sure his cousin didn’t get into trouble and he couldn’t even keep an eye on her. 

“Young Master, please go to the car, I will look for the Young Miss.” The woman started thinking of possible places Chen Daiyu could have gone.

“But-”

“Both your and the Young Miss’ safety are my priority. It would be less messy if you were safe in the car.”

Shan Yijun nodded and left.

After making sure he was in the car, the woman started to discreetly look around the mansion for Chen Daiyu.

Chen Daiyu was currently dragging Huo Shanxi towards the mansion. 

She had to think about it for a minute, but Chen Feng was the person she trusted the most to help her. Even if she had to drag him through the party, she was sure he would be able to help.

“Excuse me young lady, is that Young Master Huo?”

Chen Daiyu looked up to see a man in formal attire. She immediately took a few steps back in suspicion, though she couldn’t get too far away dragging Huo Shanxi. 

“Not to worry, I am the butler of the Huo house. Master Huo asked that I drive the Young Master back after the party ended.”

“Oh.” Chen Daiyu did not immediately let go of Huo Shanxi. Although the man looked worried, his voice revealed no sentiments towards his young master.

“He has a high fever and needs immediate medical attention.”

“I will make sure he gets medical attention.”

Chen Daiyu still did not trust him, but was powerless to do anything. The man quickly grabbed Huo Shankxi from her and threw him over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes.

“Be careful with him!”  Chen daiyu shouted after the man, but he ignored her. 

Chen Daiyu couldn’t help but feel there was something off about Huo Shanxi’s family. From how they allowed Du Lin to bully him, to how their staff treated him. She wanted to help him get out of there.

While thinking of this, she walked absentmindedly towards a pond that was by the side of the house. The pond was empty, aside from a few water lilies. Although it looked shallow, it was actually quite deep.  

There was a person occupying the only bench by the pond, leaving Chen Daiyu no place to sit and relax. When she got closer, she realized that it was a child that was sitting on the bench. 

Under the light of the moon, she saw a small and cute girl, she almost looked like a porcelain doll that would break with the slightest single touch.

The little doll just sat there, if not for occasionally blinking, Chen Daiyu would’ve really thought that she was just a doll.

“What are you staring at?!?” The ‘doll’ haughtily glared at her.
