Chapter 41 – Du Lin’s Party (1)
Chen Daiyu wanted to spend no time thinking about the annoying little brat that Du Lin was, but he had unfortunately invited her to his birthday party. She wasn’t completely sure what he was trying to pull off after their encounter at the arcade.
She needed to be careful at all times, she knew how truly perverted the brat was from when she read the novel. It disgusted her to think of how many poor girls were taken under the Du family’s ‘care’.
It also hadn’t occurred to her before she met her teacher, Ms. Liu, but there would be many socialites that would unfairly hate her. She was an illegitimate child, even if her dad had never married, she was still conceived out of wedlock.
No one in the Shan mansion had treated her unfairly during her stay, but the same could not be said of others outside.
Many people would look down on her because she was an illegitimate child and she needed to be prepared for it. She would make sure that anyone who looked down on her would regret it.
After breakfast, she immediately went to get ready, as it was mainly a children’s party it would be in the mid-afternoon and as the letter so kindly indicated ‘casual dress’.
She wanted to burn the letter, she was almost assured that they were setting her up. Her cousin was of no help, he was never interested in any of those parties and didn’t bother.
But she couldn’t afford that. She knew that even if she was Chen Feng’s daughter, she had no true power within society.
She took the opportunity to call Xiao Li from the house phone and drilled her on everything she could possibly expect. Her advice was much more helpful than her cousin’s and gave her a rundown of how the parties usually went.
With all that information and what she could find through Shan Abode’s computer, she was absolutely ready to slay that party. And thwart any effort from the Du’s to take her family down or embarass her.
She dressed up in the cutest dress Lu Ji had bought one, even if it was a casual party she wouldn’t look overdressed. And if it was fancy, she could easily make a few switches to completely change her outfit.
Feeling confident in herself she ran out of her room and walked to the entrance where her cousin was waiting.
The look of determination on her face made those waiting at the entrance chuckle, she was just too cute.
Shan Yijun and Chen Daiyu got into the limo, but were surprised when Chen Feng did as well.
“Papa, are you coming with us?”
Chen Feng vaguely nodded while smiling and Chen Daiyu excitedly hugged him.
“Thank you for coming.”
Cheng Feng smiled, when they received the invitation he immediately looked into all recent Du activities.
Eventually he found out about an ‘exchange’ happening during the party and a dirty little trick they planned to play on his daughter.
He would not let either happen.
He could not stay by his daughters side the whole time and he trusted her to take care of herself as she had proven capable of. But he was still going to help her as much as he could.
Once they arrived at the party, Chen Daiyu was not a little bit surprised by the red carpet they had set up to enter the party.
She was already pissed at the Du family for their little attempts to trip her, but they would not succeed.
She quickly changed her hairstyle and added some very cute earrings and was ready to go.
When they opened the door for them, Chen Feng was the first to go out.
Everyone hushed over, Chen Feng barely attended any event, even if he did he would enter a less public way.
But they were more astounded when he slightly bowed and put his hand to the door. A tiny hand grabbed his hand and struggled out of the car.
When the crowd saw the cutest little girl go out of the car and slightly hide behind the figure, until he patted her head. She went in front of Chen Feng and flashed a tiny smile, then looked back to the casual Shan Yijun, who already looked bored.
Everyone was immediately won over by her. Although the rumors had spread about Chen Feng having a daughter, no one could see the Ice General having a child.
Seeing their natural interaction convinced everyone they were a true family.
The trio naturally walked down into the party, and left the paparazzi wanting more.
Once through the door, they were accosted by the many watchful eyes.
Many of the attendees knew what the Du’s wanted to do to Chen Feng’s daughter, but seeing how protective he was over her, they doubted anything would truly happen.
They had barely stepped in when Du Hao greeted them warmly.
He and Chen Feng exchanged formalities that could not hide the tension between the two. Although no one knew for sure, it was well known that the Du family dabbled in illegal trading of all sorts, but their backing was so strong that even the rumors could not affect their position in society.
Anyone who crossed them ended up hurt in some way, except the Chen and Shan families. They were one of the few that directly confronted them and did not end up in a ditch.
Du Hao walked Chen Feng towards some of his acquaintances, leaving Shan Yijun and Chen Daiyu alone. Shan Yijun was immediately more attentive of his surroundings, his uncle had warned him that Du Lin might attempt to embarrass Yu Yu.
He was sure the moment they attempted to lay a hand on her she would immediately make them regret it and he would be there to make sure she did not get hurt.
“Hello Daiyu.”
Du Lin had walked up to them and ignored Shan Yijun.
“We are not that familiar Du Lin, happy birthday.” Chen Daiyu did a slight bow and did not give him the opportunity to get over-familiar with her.
Du Lin noticed the distance and was even more determined to get her. He openly looked at her, giving Chen Daiyu chills. She wanted to knock the teeth out of that child, he would grow up to be no good.
Blatantly ignoring Chen Daiyu’s cold shoulder, Du Lin extended his hand, “come with me, I’ll show you where all the other children are.”
It was at this moment that Shan Yijun intervened, gently grabbing his cousin’s hand.
“Lead the way Du Lin.”
Du Lin was pissed at all his failed attempts, but still guided them towards another room that was just as big as the first, where he was sure he was going to be able to get Chen Daiyu alone.
