Chapter 38 – Manners

Chen Daiyu blinked at the chess board in disbelief then looked back and forth between the chess board and Chen Feng.

“Kid, no matter how much you look at it. It’s your loss.” Chen Feng raised his hand and flicked her forehead, only then did Chen Daiyu process her loss.

A few hours ago-

After Chen Feng came back, they didn’t dally any longer and hired tutors for Chen Daiyu.

Coincidence or not, all the tutors Chen Feng hired were female. Today was the first day that they would teach her and she didn’t feel nervous at all. This was already her second life, as a special agent in the past, what kind of thing hadn’t she learnt?

Those thoughts were not just her being overconfident, among her peers she was the top in all subjects during training, though according to them they barely taught them the basic standards for an education. 

Unfortunately for her, she didn’t know what ‘basic standards’ were.

The first class she had that day was on etiquette. Although she had learnt a lot during her undercover work, not only did she supposedly come from the slums, but the etiquette in this world could be different from what she had learnt, like the technology in the Shan Abode. So she specifically asked her dad to hire someone to teach her etiquette. 

Her teacher came through the door right on time, as if she had been waiting outside for the clock to strike 9 am.

The woman teacher looked at Chen Daiyu as if she was trash at her feet, which didn’t bother her. Chen Diayu could tell right away that this tutor of her deemed her worthless. 

“I am the tutor your father hired to teach you etiquette. You may only address me as Mrs. Liu, and you better do it respectfully. Understood?” Mrs. Liu purposely emphasized the words ‘your father’.

“…” Chen Daiyu stared straight up at Mrs. Lui, there was not a single trace of emotion on her face. “Understood, Mrs. Liu,” and just like an obedient child, Chen Daiyu lowered her head and responded meekly.

This gave Liu Teng a sense of superiority. She had long looked down on Chen Daiyu, the rumored illegitimate daughter of General Chen. It had not been confirmed yes, but this child’s existence was proof of it.

She heard that Chen Daiyu came from the slums before entering the Chen family. Not only was that a detestable existence as it was, but Liu Teng also looked down on military families, because in her eyes, the military was full of brute uneducated men. She was disgusted by them. 

Unfortunately they had more power than her, she was part of the bloodline of an imperial family member from a past dynasty. She felt that they did not deserve their power, so when she heard that the Chen Family was hiring a tutor, she took it as an opportunity to make the child fear and respect her.

By then, at least she could make use of ‘these’ uneducated people. They would realize that the fact she even considers them her pawn is an honor. 

Liu Teng’s family had always prided themselves on their bloodline, plus they also had a stable position in the government. Liu Teng was not young anymore, so despite being over thirty, her being screamed princess mentality all the way to her bones and she believed many nonsensical things. 

Chen Daiyu didn’t like the look in Liu Teng’s eyes and she naturally didn’t like the tone of her voice either. But she was the one who requested an etiquette teacher, she should tolerate it for a bit and see what this ‘teacher’ wanted to do.

“Hmph! You can’t even sit straight!”

“Go stand in the corner and reflect on yourself! “

“You must also stand with your back straight. Why are you slouching!? “

In her past life, she had attended many high society dinners and in order not to stand out nor look strange because of lack of etiquette, she practiced till she basically became a high society lady herself. She even kept many habits in her daily life

It was basically impossible for her to make small mistakes like slouching even in her current body.

One thing was for sure.

The etiquette teacher was purposely finding trouble for her…
