Daddy is the Big Boss - Chapter 28
Chapter 28 – A Walk Through the Gardens
Chen Daiyu woke up to someone knocking on her door.
“Young Madam, Old Master and Master are waiting for you downstairs. Breakfast will be ready in a bit.”
“Uhhh, thank you. I’ll be downstairs soon.”
Chen Daiyu got up quickly and went to the bathroom to shower, she wanted to make sure she didn’t make any mistakes in front of her grandfather after making a good impression the night before.
She found that her closet was full of adorable dresses, but they were not over the top like the ones Lu Ji had brought her during her stay at the hospital. She chose a white one that would make her look even cuter than normal, so that she could charm her family even more.
She knew it was irrational to think that they would abandon her, everyone had been nothing but nice to her. She just didn’t want to lose them.
Looking at herself in the mirror before going downstairs she couldn’t help but pause to look at herself again.
She had changed so much from her past life. Sometimes the memories of the horrid training she had to go through flashed through her mind. She was groomed to be ruthless and to detach herself from her feelings.
But after transmigrating, she couldn’t be like that anymore. She knew she still had her ruthless side, but she had people that she cared for now. She would use everything she was taught to protect her new family.
Smiling at herself, she turned and headed down for breakfast.
“Good morning Grandfather! Good morning Papa!”
Chen Daiyu cheerfully came to the dining room and was surprised to only find Chen Fend and her grandfather there.
“Where are Shan Yijun and the rest?”
“It’s only going to be the three of us this morning little one, come sit down.”
Chen Daiyu obediently went to the chair in front of her father.
They had light conversation through breakfast, and afterwards her grandfather invited her to a walk through the gardens alone.
“Little Daiyu, do you like studying?”
Chen Daiyu nodded with enthusiasm. In her past life she would take every opportunity she could to sneak books from her missions, be it for school subjects or for entertainment, which led to her attempt to read an online novel.
Her grandfather beamed at her response.
“That’s wonderful! School’s on break right now, so we are going to hire you a tutor to catch you up to speed. Don’t feel pressured to catch up in a few months. Though we want you to go to little Yijun’s school, we also want you to be ready and be able to compete with your peers.”
“I understand Grandfather, when would the tutor come? What subjects would I be seeing? Can I ask you for help?”
The old man laughed at her enthusiasm, it was a refreshing change of pace compared to all the dull people he was around all day. He was sure this little granddaughter of his was here to brighten up all of their lives.
They continued their walk through the Shan mansion’s garden peacefully. Old Man Shan answered all and any question Chen Diayu asked him with patience.
Though after a while, Old Man Shan had to go because he had an important meeting scheduled. Before he could leave, he was stopped by Chen Daiyu.
“Grandfather, would you walk with me in the mornings every once in a while?”
Old Man Shan smiled and patted her head, “of course little one. You can keep exploring the gardens by yourself if you would like,” he pointed at a corner of the house, “that’s where your room is, so make sure you don’t wander too far, your cousin wants to go shopping with you later.”
Chen Daiyu nodded and bid her grandfather goodbye.
She looked around the garden for a while, and spotted a fake mountain that was visible from her room. There was something … off about it. It looked like it was too well made.
She decided to look more into it later.
Xiak Daiyu was now confronted with a bigger problem. She needed to make connections and power to her name so she could help her family in the future.
Thinking about the shopping trip she was going to go on with her cousin, she decided she needed to buy a computer, and a few cellphones as well.
She needed to make use of her knowledge from the novel to get as ahead of the Du family as she could and hopefully break a few of their pawns.
They still didn’t know she existed or what she could do, and she needed to use that to her advantage.
Of course, the things she knew from the novel were limited since the ‘male lead’ focused more on getting around town than actually managing the family business. It truly made her wonder how he was able to stay afloat, considering how incopetent he seemed to be.
With a plan in mind, Chen Dayu went back inside to ask her cousin about their little trip.
