Chapter 19  – Family

Xiao Daiyu woke up in the middle of the night and looked at Shan Yijun, who was asleep besides her. The kid didn’t have his normal poker face when he slept. She looked around to see what had changed in the room, although she had felt someone come in, she knew there was no ill intent and kept sleeping. 

She discovered a few branded paper bags on a table. She walked quietly towards them and looked inside. She was surprised to see a few dresses and other necessities that were most likely for her. As for the designs… She declined to comment on it…

All the clothes were bright colored and frilly, dresses were princess styles and none were pants. AFter a few seconds of inner debate, she just decided on a yellow simple dress and went to the bathroom to wash up.

“No…” She hissed when the cold water hit her face, she was so small that she couldn’t reach for sinks so she decided to make the tub full. Unfortunately, her cheeks still hurt. The pain tolerance of her body was still low…

When Xiao Daiyu came out of the bathroom, she saw Lu Ji sitting on the chair by the bed., while Shan Yijun was still soundly asleep.

She pursed her lips and took another chair to sit beside Lu Ji…

So the boy is the patient now? The corner of her mouth twitched but there was no other expression on her face.

“You didn’t get your head wet did you?” Lu Ji observed her bandages, there were no signs of water on them, he sighed in relief. “Since you washed your face, I’ll get the ointment for you”

Lu Ji was about to get up, but Xiao Daiyu tugged the corner of his clothes that prevented him from going further. He was surprised and turned to look at Xiao Daiyu who had her head lowered.

Her face turned hot for some reason. Isn’t it just thanking people? Why are you getting so shy for! Xiao Daiyu scolded herself internally.

“Thank you” her voice was barely audible, if not for Lu Ji’s excellent hearing he wouldn’t have heard it.

“Ah, my brother’s daughter is so cute, I’m jealous~” 

Lu Ji left to get some medicine but Xiao Daiyu stayed there and froze.

Brother’s daughter…?

Does that mean… He’s her uncle?

Xiao Daiyu’s heart couldn’t help but skip a beat. In her past life, she was an excellent special agent, young and promising, but had no backing. One of the reasons she died was because she had no one to help her from within.

In this lifetime, she had no desire of familial love. She had given up on it. Unexpectedly, she found her family- no. This body’s family.

She was already nervous and expectant, but then it hit her.

So what if they’re related by blood? Will they treat her like one of them? 

Being in the secret force, she had met many children who were either abandoned or abused. Will they abandon her? Abuse her…?

What should she do then?
