Crying While Filling the Pit I Dug - Chapter 91
Meanwhile, Zeng Jiayuan tried to convince Director Yue and the producer. However, Director Yue’s wife refused, citing Song Miaomiao’s impressive performances in “Record” and other TV series, along with positive ratings. Moreover, she had heard of Zeng Jiayuan’s contentious interactions with certain directors, which made her reluctant to collaborate with her. As a partial investor in “My Thirty-Eight Days”, she wielded influence and vetoed Zeng Jiayuan’s involvement as a producer.
Zeng Jiayuan, failing to secure the role, naturally blamed Song Miaomiao, suspecting her of employing underhanded tactics. With Xu Nanfang’s schedule set only four months away and “My Thirty-Eight Days” was scheduled to start in four months, the pressure was on.
Following the release of “Record”, Song Miaomiao received offers for various film projects. She selected one that conveniently fit within the four-month window, with a shooting cycle of just two and a half months. Each time she completed a filming project, the system Oppa rewarded her with additional points, enhancing the storyline and her progress.
Four months later, “My Thirty-Eight Days” commenced filming. Interestingly, the first day of shooting involved the final scene of the script, where Zhang Yitian resolves his case and returns to normal life. This particular scene, set for March 9th, required Zhang to find the female lead, Guan Xiaocheng, express their feelings, and share a kiss.
The first scene being a kissing scene, Song Miaomiao couldn’t help but feel nervous, despite her previous close relationship with Yi Qing in the last world.
ACTION!
The morning sun illuminated Guan Xiaocheng’s breakfast store, casting a warm glow. She glanced up at the sky, a faint smile gracing her lips.
Suddenly, Zhang Yitian emerged before her, his silhouette outlined against the morning light.
Recognizing him as the guest from “yesterday”, Guan Xiaocheng greeted him cheerfully, “Good morning.”
Approaching slowly, Zhang Yitian spoke softly, “Good morning, Xiaocheng. Though you may not realize it, I pass by here every day. I’ve known you for thirty-eight days, and today marks the thirty-ninth. Please don’t misunderstand; I’m not here to spy on you. Could you give me a chance to pursue you?”
Guan Xiaocheng countered, “Zhang Yitian, I’ve known you for 380 days. When we first met, my store hadn’t opened yet. At the intersection ahead, I had a bike accident and dislocated my ankle. You were the one who rushed me to the hospital. I wanted to thank you, but when we met again, you had no recollection of me. Now, over a year later, my breakfast store is thriving, and I see you passing by every morning. Can you give me a chance to be your girlfriend?”
Zhang Yitian smiled and gently took Guan Xiaocheng’s hand, drawing her close as they leaned in for a kiss in the morning light.
However, just before their lips met, Director Yue’s voice echoed, halting the scene.
Song Miaomiao, caught up in Xu Nanfang’s affectionate gaze, felt a pang of disappointment at the interruption.
“Nanfang, try to show a bit more emotion. The girl’s confession of liking you for 380 days should move you,” Director Yue instructed.
Xu Nanfang replied, “She’s truly a talented actress.”
Director Yue continued, “When she mentions the 380 days, you should be surprised. And when she talks about you taking her to the hospital, you should appear confused, as if searching your memory. Then, when she reveals that you forgot her, you should convey guilt. As she describes seeing you every day, indicating her constant attention, you should feel touched. And finally, when she confesses her feelings, you should show surprise again.”
Understanding the direction, Xu Nanfang nodded. “Okay, Director Yue.”
Director Yue said, “Let’s try it once more.”
The scene continued to the kissing part, but the two actors remained locked in the embrace for seven or eight minutes straight, with Director Yue showing no signs of stopping.
Song Miaomiao couldn’t help but feel happy. Since arriving in this world, it was the first time she had experienced such intimate contact with her long-lost lover of nearly three years. Gradually, she lost herself in the moment, becoming more and more immersed in the role, until it was Xu Nanfang who finally broke the kiss, gently pulling away.
As Song Miaomiao opened her eyes in bewilderment, she realized where she was, feeling a wave of embarrassment wash over her. Xu Nanfang, too, seemed slightly uncomfortable.
Director Yue shook his head disapprovingly. “When it comes to kissing scenes, restraint is key. Remember, this is the first time you’re meeting someone you have a crush on. It should feel a little awkward at first. Your performance came across as overly familiar, giving the impression that it’s been done a thousand times before.”
Song Miaomiao couldn’t help but blush at the critique, feeling slightly mortified at the thought of thousands of times…
….
Song Miaomiao made an effort to suppress her emotions as per Director Yue’s instructions. However, despite her attempts, the scene was still cut short.
Director Yue addressed Xu Nanfang, “Nanfang, you need to show more excitement during the kissing scenes.”
And once more, they tried again.
…
In an attempt to inject some excitement into the scene, Xu Nanfang leaned in a bit too eagerly, causing their noses to collide with an awkward force. Though the impact wasn’t severe, the dry weather perhaps exacerbated the situation, resulting in a nosebleed for Song Miaomiao.
“Are you okay?” Xu Nanfang was taken aback.
Song Miaomiao wiped her nose with her hand, revealing a smudge of blood on her fingertips. Her assistant and makeup artist rushed to her side immediately.
“It’s alright,” she reassured them, lifting her head and gesturing to Director Yue. “Just give me a moment to take care of this, and we can continue filming.”
Accepting a wet wipe from Song Miaomiao’s assistant, Xu Nanfang gently supported her face and carefully wiped away the blood.
Song Miaomiao looked at him without blinking. The nosebleed was worth it to be treated so tenderly.
“I’m so sorry,” Xu Nanfang apologized, releasing her face and stepping back.
Director Yue interjected, “If it’s serious, go to the hospital. Don’t push yourself.”
“It’s fine,” Song Miaomiao responded, her disappointment barely visible. Seeing that her nosebleed was under control, the makeup artist fixed her makeup.
“Let’s start again.”
Song Miaomiao breathed a sigh of relief, relieved that her nose was fine. Xu Nanfang had been very careful, and they finally succeeded in the scene.
Director Tiao Yue commented with a smile, “Young man, full of vigor.”
The lighting engineer chimed in vaguely, “This is normal.”
Song Miaomiao glanced around the shooting site, noticing the meaningful looks from all the staff, including her assistant, Xiaomi.
Wait, did they misunderstand something?
