Crying While Filling the Pit I Dug - Chapter 64
Song Miaomiao: [No more tasks? So, I can fill in the pits however I please?]
System Oppa: [Yes.]
Yi Qing’s voice, soft and honeyed, broke the silence, “Princess.”
“Well… I… I’m feeling a bit hungry,” Song Miaomiao confessed. “Could I have something to eat?”
Yi Qing appeared surprised, but a smile tugged at the corners of his mouth. “It’s my oversight, I apologize. I’ll instruct the servants to prepare whatever the Princess desires.”
But Song Miaomiao waved off his concern. “No need to trouble yourself. I’ll simply have some of the cakes on the table.”
She had intended to help herself, but Yi Qing was quick to respond, promptly bringing over a plate of cakes. Gratefully, she murmured her thanks and intended to eat sparingly. However, the intensity of her hunger, combined with the effects of the alcohol, left her unable to restrain herself. She devoured the pastries until the plate was empty, hiccupping as she finished. It reminded her of the first time she met Yi Qing in this world, where she had hiccupped excessively.
Yi Qing retrieved a small box from the cabinet. “Princess, hawthorns.”
Song Miaomiao blinked in surprise.
“These hawthorns are delightful. They offer a perfect blend of sourness and sweetness, making them an excellent choice even as a snack,” Yi Qing remarked with a smile. “As long as the Princess enjoys them.”
After putting away the dishes, Yi Qing noticed a water basin in the room. He wrung out a handkerchief and handed it to Song Miaomiao to clean her hands. She took the opportunity to splash water on her face as well, feeling the weight of the numerous red hairpins in her hair. The dizziness from the alcohol made her head spin, and Yi Qing gently assisted in removing each hairpin.
“Princess,” Yi Qing’s blush deepened, “It’s time to retire for the night.”
With that, the dizzy Song Miaomiao found herself being carried horizontally to bed…
Song Miaomiao still couldn’t wrap her head around it! How could the male lead be getting along so well with the female supporting character?
Lying on her bed, Song Miaomiao summoned the system Oppa in distress, [What am I supposed to do? The plot is going completely off track!]
System Oppa responded, [An important plot point has been completed, and you received an additional 200 points. Your current total is 4300 points.]
Song Miaomiao: [???] Her confusion was evident in the three question marks she sent out.
Yi Qing wrapped his arms around Song Miaomiao’s waist, and whispered gently into her ears, “Princess, it’s time to rise. We have an appointment at the palace today.”
Reluctantly, Song Miaomiao stirred from her bed, only to be surprised by Yi Qing wearing a very familiar sachet adorned with auspicious cloud patterns. Wasn’t that the same sachet she had given him as a gift during one of her tasks? She had assumed he would ignore it, leaving it to gather dust.
Observing Song Miaomiao’s gaze fixed on the sachet adorning his waist, Yi Qing couldn’t help but feel a blush creep up his cheeks.
Song Miaomiao couldn’t fathom what was going through his mind. Shouldn’t he be guarding his purity for Gu Jiaren since last night? Despite being wed to a woman he didn’t love, his heart still belonged to the female lead. Shouldn’t he be secretly wearing a sachet or some token given by the female lead to remember her? Was it really appropriate for him to enjoy items bestowed by her, the supporting character, so openly?
Accompanied by Song Miaomiao, Yi Qing entered the palace to pay respects to the Emperor before proceeding to greet his father and aunt. Yi Qing’s biological mother had passed away a few years prior, leaving a void in the narrative. Nonetheless, as a Princess, Song Miaomiao was treated with utmost respect by both General Yi and Mrs. Yi, who held them in high regard. Finally, the family gathered for lunch at Yi Qing’s ancestral home.
In the carriage on the way back, Yi Qing’s cheeks retained a hint of crimson. He hesitated, his hand inching closer to Song Miaomiao’s, but an apprehensive hesitation held him back.
As Yi Qing’s hand neared hers, Song Miaomiao purposely withdrew her own. She found herself growing resistant to Yi Qing’s advances. How could he do this? Wasn’t he supposed to be in love with Gu Jiaren? In her own narrative, the Princess would never engage in physical intimacy with the male lead. Thus, she didn’t attach much significance to their marriage, viewing it simply as a task to be completed.
Were all men like this? Regardless of their feelings for someone, once they found themselves in a harmonious situation, they would act as though everything was fine, with their true feelings hidden away?
Yi Qing withdrew his hand awkwardly, retrieving a box from a small cabinet in the carriage and presenting it to Song Miaomiao. “”Princess, hawthorns for you.”
Song Miaomiao: “…”
Although Song Miaomiao enjoyed the sweet and sour taste of it, she was currently in a gloomy mood. “No need, I didn’t eat much at noon today.”
Eating too much was what led her to digging herself into a transmigration pit! Except for her crush from memory, Song Miaomiao hadn’t been in a relationship yet. Now that she hadn’t experienced love, but was already married and being harmonious, she felt downcast even without the matter of Gu Jiaren and Yi Qing.
“Oh.”
The two remained silent as they returned to the Princess Mansion.
The Emperor and General Yi, along with Mrs. Yi, had given numerous gifts. Song Miaomiao instructed Yan Yu to put them all into storage.
With so many relatives in the Princess Mansion, each of them came to pay their respects to Song Miaomiao. As the hostess, she couldn’t afford to be unfamiliar with anyone. After this ordeal, it was time for dinner again.
On the table, Song Miaomiao found a very familiar and simple dish – bone soup.
Yi Qing hadn’t tasted it himself, but he served a bowl to Song Miaomiao first, presenting it to her with a gentle, “Princess.”
“Thank you,” she replied.
Yi Qing continued, “Princess, there’s no need for such formalities between us.”
Hey, male lead! How could you say such ambiguous words to the female supporting character?! Those are words only spoken by an air conditioner, okay?
(Air-conditioner/A term used to describe an empty talker or someone who talks nonsense .)
As Song Miaomiao took a sip of the soup, she glanced at Yi Qing, who was sneakily watching her.
What was wrong with him?
Seeing Song Miaomiao noticing his little actions, Yi Qing’s ears turned slightly red as he softly asked, “Princess, is it tasty?”
Song Miaomiao casually replied, “It’s pretty good.”
Yi Qing blushed even more, smiling, “I think it’s the best when you make it.”
System Oppa: [Completing a romantic interaction plot point, additional 100 points awarded, current total 4400 points.]
