Crownless: The Fallen World - Chapter 40
After they spent the night at the place and the girls stopped to take some pictures of the clearing and the aqueduct, they started to wear their trekking clothes as they began to run towards the direction of the Excursion Island.
They spent their days camping out, foraging for their lack of resources and even hunting in the wilds. Living in a primitive style, they found it very taxing and troublesome at first but after two weeks of traveling, they got used to it and even adapted to it.
Axel pointed at one of the farthest islands and said, “That’s the island we’re going into.”
They all looked at the island and at Axel. Julian spoke first, “How are we going to get into it?”
“By swimming, of course,” they all answered with a confident glint in their eyes and grin. Indeed, they were trained to swim even in the harshest environment in the High Order. Because some territories were underwater and some were islands, and even the admins never knew what the students will be getting into, they trained all of the students to adapt in a lot of circumstances.
“Uh… I don’t know how to swim?” Julian admitted as he scratched the back of his head with an awkward smile. He continued, “How will I get there?”
Axel smiled widely as an idea struck his petty brain then looked at Trystan who flinched from the eye contact. The muscled man looked everywhere but Axel’s twinkling eyes, then he exclaimed, “Oh! There’s a boat!”
They all looked at the small boat, rather, a destroyed boat that looked too ancient to their eyes. Finding hope, Trystan excitedly told them, “How about we fix that boat and we can pull Julian there?”
“Great idea, but that will take a lot of time and−” Axel’s words were cut off when Julian interjected, “I can fix up a boat. When I was a child, I always watched my father build this small fishing boat to fish in our town’s lake. I helped him with the maintenance too!”
“Well, that solves our next crisis,” Adelaide said as she pulled Trystan over to the destroyed boat.
“What are we going to do?”
“Carry that boat there,” The little female fighter pointed at the boat and to the place where Axel and the other two came together to discuss some things. It was probably how they will fix the boat because Julian was the only one that talked to them.
Back at the group, Axel suddenly jolted up from his seating, “Dumb bricks. I forgot that we still have our Holowrist and our virtual shop.”
Kaia released exclaims of realization as she and Axel quickly checked their accounts and they looked up vessels for yacht or ships. Julian clutched his hands on the sketch he just did and the explanation he wasted on them. Sighing, he shoved the paper into his bag.
The two added the amount of their money from all of their accounts and they couldn’t even afford the cheapest yacht there was.
“We still need a little more than a couple of hundred thousands to add…”
“I guess we have to build that boat.”
“Why didn’t we save some more money for emergencies like this?”
“This emergency is not normal, you know.”
Suddenly, a loud thud surprised them and they saw Adelaide and Trystan carrying small bits of wooden planks. They also saw the half, or a quarter, part of the boat nearby where they were. Their eyes twinkled at the two. Adelaide’s face flushed, “Uh… I just wanted to help, so… no need to be that grateful.”
“We just expended a small amount of energy and we’re really not that tired, yep,” Trystan nodded but his smile portrayed his pride.
“Hey… hey… got some money there?” Kaia suddenly asked that she left the two dumbfounded.
Adelaide awkwardly chuckled, “I already spent all my money back then for more weight equipment and forgot to replenish my account. Why though?”
Kaia rolled her eyes as her attention shifted at Trystan, “How about you?”
“Eh… I have some money… for what though?”
“You see, Axel here, our very own dumb bricked secretary, just realized that we have our Holowrist and our virtual shop to look for boats. Both of us already combined our money together but it was not enough to buy the cheapest one in the shop. So we’re kind of hoping that the two of you will have them,” Kaia said as she sighed.
“Doesn’t that mean you are worse than dumb bricks because you didn’t realize it at all?”
Kaia’s eyes burned as she fiercely turned her head towards Julian who just tilted his head. She stomped her way as she retrieved a metal bat from her Holowrist. The male shrieked in fear then scrambled his way out of the predicament he just put himself into.
The rest of the group watched how Kaia chased around the frightened male while swinging the bat. Axel cleared his throat and smiled at the two, “So, how much do you have, Trystan?”
Trystan nodded and checked his account, “Oh. Looks like my mother just gave me 5 million today. What’s the occasion though…” As he wondered why, he saw the letter his mother left him, ‘Hi, baby boy~! Your mother will be out in a while and this is the deposit I gave you for your five month trip! I will give you more after five months. Don’t hesitate to ask for more, okay? Love you, baby!’
Axel and Adelaide’s ears perked from the mention of the amount of money. Trystan sighed as he shook his head, “It seems like my mother will go on a trip with my dad and will−” he was surprised how Axel and Adelaide latched onto him like a leech.
“Please, lend us your money. We’ll pay you back once we get inside the Excursion Island,” Axel pleaded.
“Lend me some too! You see, my parents already forbid me from getting more money. I’ve been starved to death sometimes,” Adelaide desperately shook his arm.
In the end, Trystan lent all of his money and they bought a luxury yacht there was in the shop and Julian received a lot of beatings as he promised to never say any words that were true at Kaia, the demon woman.
They were now sailing towards the Excursion Island. Trystan was blankly staring at the gray clouds as his body sprawled on the bow of the yacht, “Why do we have to buy this luxury yacht when we won’t use it again?”
“I’ve been deprived of luxury treatment,” Kaia reasoned out as she adjusted her sunglasses and sipped her espresso affogato.
“I deserve this luxury treatment after long weeks of primitive living,” Adelaide said before she wolfed down all the food they got free after their purchase.
“I… am not ready for this. Urgh!” Axel said in between his vomiting and Julian was rubbing the male’s back.
