Aunt Ge looked at her from head to toe, and wished she could read every strand of her hair, and while watching, she cried out of breath, and said incoherently, “Mother’s Nan Nan, nothing has changed… No, no, you look better than when you were a child. Mother… I made you your favorite fried sugar cake, will you like to have a bite?” 

Aunt Ge made the fried sugar when she arrived in the capital the day before. But before it could be seen, the sugar cake was divided and eaten by them. What she had taken out was the one that was just fried that morning.
