Black Heart: Her Diabolical Ways - Chapter 3

Yi Lan reached in her bag and took out her ipod before placing the earbuds into her ears. She selected her favorite song from a playlist, and she hummed along lightly as she walked slowly down the road.

Even though Yi Lan was wearing earbuds, she could still feel the presence of someone behind her. Years of martial arts training had prepared her for nearly any situation.

With a calm face, Yi Lan just continued walking unphased. If this person didn’t do anything to her, she wouldn’t do anything to them. Yi Lan’s motto was, “If someone hits you, then hit them back twice.” She would never be the one to start a conflict, but she would pay back any grudge two folds!

Yi Lan made her way forward, slowly until she reached a quiet alley, where her pursuers finally made a move. Of course, Yi Lan anticipated this scenario, it was why she came here.

In a flash, many silhouettes appeared in front of her. A bit of surprise colored Yi Lan’s eyes. Around twenty people surrounded her in a ring. Without any expression, she took off her earbuds and put them back into her bag.

Yi Lan yawned, before she sneered and spoke lazily, “Well, well, well, what do we have here?! A bunch of dogs following the ring leader’s orders.”

One of the pursuers, was a burly man who stood in front of her. He immediately grabbed her by the neck. He sneered as he commanded her, “Stop your blabbering. You won’t be able to get any reaction from us.”

Instead of cowering from fear, like the man was expecting, Yi Lan only smirked, “You all have no shame at all. Twenty burly men coming after a small girl?! Tsk, tsk, where are your manners?! Never mind, this junior of yours will willingly teach you a few manners.”

With a flash, she broke the wrist of the man holding her as the man howled in pain. The other men all stood frozen in shock. This weak girl had actually been able to hurt their boss?!

The burly man was livid after having his wrist broken. He winced and whined as he spat out an order in between his painful wails, “Men, what are you all waiting for?! Kill her!”

“Yes, boss!” The goons shouted in unison and then they all rushed to attack Yi Lan at the same time. Yi Lan only removed her bag from her shoulder and stretched her hands and legs. Before the men could do anything, she leapt towards their boss rapidly.

Stomping on the unprepared boss’ back, Yi Lan made him lie down with his stomach touching the ground and his nose now bloody. Yi Lan didn’t stop there, as she began pulling back on the burly man’s arms. His arms made a resounding crack, clearly audible in the alley. Blood curdling screams were heard soon after.

The burly boss man fainted from the pain and frustration.

The other men were terrified!

“This brat’s not normal! Weapons! Let’s get her!”

“Everyone team up, lock her legs down and she’s ours!”

“Kill her!”

The remaining goons rushed to attack Yi Lan, but are only thrown out of the way casually. When one of them tried to stab her with a knife, he found his finger cut off by his own knife! There was blood gushing out of the wound, as he screamed in pain pathetically. Tears were rolling from his eyes and mixed with the snot from his nose as it dripped down his face.

Distracted by the blood, Yi Lan watched in fascination for some time. However, she was forced back to reality when she heard a gunshot rang out in the background.

Suddenly, her body was attacked from the behind and she was almost knocked off of her feet. Time seemed to slow down in that instant. Her shoulder experienced a searing pain as a bullet engraved itself in her skin. Yi Lan hissed, visibly in pain, and almost dropped down to her knees.

However, who was Yi Lan?

This kind of wound was not a big deal for a girl like her!

Yi Lan spun around to find the one who shot her. With bloodshot eyes and a mad look, she rushed forward to attack the man. Scared silly, the man fires his gun again! However, Yi Lan avoided a straight path and successfully dodged the fired shot. The man was panicking. What the hell was this brat? A bullet proof?

Now frantic, he started shooting bullets in random directions. In his panic, he killed two of the goons and wounded a few more. Coincidentally, Yi Lan was shot once more! This time, her leg was hit.

She simply had no way to avoid it because of the man’s wild firing. Merely, being shot again, only caused her to become more angry! Yi Lan reached the man with blood thirsty eyes. Killing intent was permeating from the entire alley.

“Good. Very good!You actually dared shoot me!? Now, be ready for your punishment,” Yi Lan’s voice had reached an unnaturally high pitch as she drop kicked the man in his abdomen, crushing his core! She walked up and snatched the gun from the trembling man, while taking out a handkerchief.

With a cruel smirk on her face and eyes that confessed her madness, Yi Lan spoke only one word, “Die.”

Yi Lan dropped the hammer on the revolver and blasted a hole through the man’s head. Afterwards, she carefully and thoroughly cleaned off her fingerprints off the gun with the handkerchief. Even though she had lost much of her sanity in anger, she was able to remain rational. She would never let herself get sent to prison over this incident!

Meanwhile, the man fell onto the ground lifelessly, blood and brain matter leaking onto the ground. Yi Lan had made sure no one was conscious before she had made the kill. Afterwards, she placed the gun in the man’s hand once more, and fixed up his posture, “Henceforth, the reason for this man’s death will be suicide. They could figure out the details on their own, not my business why he killed himself.”

After all, wasn’t that why she shot the bastard from the side of his head and not the front?! No one would ever connect a weak little girl to this situation.

With a sigh, Yi Lan picked up her bag from the ground and walked in the direction of her home. Her teeth gritted in pain as her shoulder and leg stinged and oozed blood constantly.

“Damn, bullet shots are no joke. I couldn’t believe that guy almost killed me! Next time, I’ll be more vigilant,” grumbled Yi Lan through gritted teeth.

Yi Lan was not so stupid that she couldn’t guess who had sent these men. There could only be one possibility, that was Mo Ling! Her other enemies knew better than to mess with her family.

‘Sigh. Only a woman in love could resort to such tactics.’

If this was the case, Yi Lan preferred to not fall in love. Her experience with men was traumatising enough already. Not to mention, most of the men she knew always shivered in fear when they saw her, before running off as fast as they could.

Yi Lan walked on absent mindedly. She only came back to reality when she heard the loud honk of a car nearby. She turned her head to see a car rushing towards her at full speed!

“No…” Before Yi Lan could even blink her eyes, she was hit by the car with a strong force. She was sent flying by the force and her body slammed ointo a nearby wall, leaving a bloody imprint on it.

Yi Lan could feel that many of her bones had been broken in the accident. Unimaginable pain spread throughout her body with each desperate breath. Yet, Yi Lan still didn’t utter a single cry. Her energy slowly drained out and she could feel her life slipping out of her body. She wanted to cry, but the tears wouldn’t come.

‘Am I…dying?’ Yi Lan was unwilling! She hated this! She hadn’t even gotten married yet, after all. She still had to tell her too-good-for-anyone brother and that worrying sister of hers that she loved them, and that in these past years, she had only been acting like a tsundere on purpose.

She still had to tease Kira for being bent. Not that he was though, but a few more days and she would have made him bent. She didn’t want to die as an untouched flower. Most importantly, she still had to ruin Mo Huo and Mo Ling!

“I refuse!” Yi Lan coughed up blood as she weakly said. How could she die without achieving her vengeance? This was why she lived!

She had fought those twenty men and came back alive, only to be hit by a car!!! What nonsense!

‘God, this is so unfair! I know karma is biting me, but so soon?! Couldn’t you have waited until I atleast found a boyfriend?!” She cried internally to God.

Yi Lan’s sight was slightly blurred when she saw a handsome face full of concern, holding her and looking at her. He was saying something to her but she couldn’t understand or hear any sounds. The world was currently fading away rapidly, after all.

Yi Lan’s mind was in a daze, as she wondered who this fella was. He was a cutie, that’s for sure. Oh well, at least she died in the arms of a cutie. This could be considered a decent ending, right?

Both Yi Lan’s eyesight and hearing had both been reduced to such a level that now only darkness surrounded her.

She struggled to see that dark and blurry outline of this cruel world, as she took one last breath and her soul departed from her body.
