Aria's Tales - 1.3

Mingyan waited for two days -TWO DAYS, until she finally became restless. Although that was only what she looked like outside, on the inside she was counting the hours when the original Gu Mingyan would panic in her situation. She thought it would be on the third day since she knows that Shen Yan lived far from where she currently is. But in her situation, the original Mingyan should have long forgotten such fact because of her unstable state of mind.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

On the morning of the second day in the hospital, she finally decided it was time for her to become even more depressed.

Aunty Chang was leisurely peeling an apple and shaping them into rabbits, sitting in between the window and the bed, when she saw movement at the corner of her eyes. To her horror, Mingyan was getting out of the bed with beads of sweat forming on her forehead.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

“Yan’er! Where are you going?” She hastily dropped her task on the table, not caring whether it was properly placed, and ran over to stop her daughter from leaving. “Yan’er!”

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Mingyan’s eyes were full-on terrified as her thoughts sink deeper and deeper into negativity. Does- Does Yan gege ha- hate me? That thought quickly stuck to her mind, whirling and stubbornly hitting her heart. Her face went ghastly pale in a split second, scaring the living daylights of Aunty Chang.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Lily: I pity you, Aunty Chang.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

*knock knock knock*

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The door opened and Mingyan’s father came in together with a handsome young man with dark hair and dark eyes. “Baby, we’re here~” He had not even processed the situation yet before the young man behind him ran over to Mingyan.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

“Yanyan, what’s wrong?” He carefully held Mingyan’s cold arms while he peered at her scared eyes.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Mingyan’s father who saw this man holding her precious daughter restrained his inner rage but could not restrain his veins from bulging. Hmmph, I’ll let you off today just because we need you right now. Hmmph!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

It was as if the monochromatic world was invaded by vibrant colours. Mingyan’s eyes widened when she finally saw the person she had been waiting for. Her bottled-up emotions finally erupted. Yan gege! Waaaaah!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Yes. It was only with this person could she express her emotions. She covered her face as she cried indignantly.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Her parents descended into panic, while Shen Yan, who had already seen this before, was calmer on the surface. But he, too, was panicking. His heart ached, even more, when he saw her pale face and red eyes. He could not describe how much he wanted to rip apart the person who made her cry. And this fact, made him do a double-take. “Shhh, shh, don’t cry. I’m here.” Shen Yan slowly enveloped the trembling girl in his arms as she wrapped hers around his chest. She held on tight, soaking his shirt. But that didn’t matter to him at the moment.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The couple looked at each other in tacit understanding. As much as they wanted to join comforting their own daughter, they knew this person held an even bigger weight than them. They sadly left the room and closed the door softly.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Mingyan sniffed and ended up getting a hiccup from crying. Shen Yan made her sit on the bed while he grabbed a glass of water from the water dispenser. But Mingyan was afraid he would leave, so she tugged on his shirt as she followed him to get the water. Shen Yan helplessly let her.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

After she drank the water, her hiccup was gone. She still held on firmly unto Shen Yan’s shirt as she dazedly raised her head to look at him. She blinked once, then tilted her head. Yan gege … can see? Shen Yan’s dark eyes were clear, no longer having a white substance that made his eyes look dead. Mingyan was dumbstruck.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Shen Yan was busy petting the girl, trying to soothe her emotions when suddenly it erupted again. Old habits definitely die hard. It seems he was still as sensitive as before regarding her emotions. He looked at her in shock and found that she was currently in disbelief. Then, he realized why. He was scared and immediately explained.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

“Yanyan, I didn’t lie to you! I was truly blind.” Mingyan’s cold heart regained a bit of calmness. “It was my aunt who helped with my surgery and got me my new eyes.” Shen Yan understood, that if he doesn’t explain clearly, Mingyan would believe that she was betrayed. And coupled with what he heard about what happened two days ago, he feared that it would not end up with just her crying.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

“I had them now for a year. The chances weren’t optimistic but I went with it anyway.” He held the girl’s hands and pressed on them gently. “Please believe me?”

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Mingyan’s doubtful eyes finally cleared, and she nodded. She will always believe this person. As long as he stayed by her side, she’d believe his lies.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

She tilts her head to the right. How did you get here so fast?

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Shen Yan smiled as he understood. “I took the fastest jet plane.”

He chuckled seeing her reaction. “Mmhm, I might extend my stay. Who knows.” The room lightened up together with his laugh.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Their synchronization was through the roof. It was as if Shen Yan could immediately understand what she was trying to say. But Lily had to interrupt Mingyan’s thoughts.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

‘Why aren’t you speaking??’ She wanted to ask for the longest time.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

‘Chill. It ain’t time yet.’ Mingyan’s plans were quite deep yet had a playful sense. She had to reveal her voice with a bang, one that will definitely catch this guy in a strong net. Regarding love, Mingyan was very adept at it. That was why the moment she looked at Shen Yan when he entered, she knew he had only loved Gu Mingyan as a sister. But will the current Mingyan let him off?

He was the one who fed her since the arm that got hurt was her dominant arm and every time she moved it, she would stiffen and bite her lip in pain. Although truthfully, Mingyan was not bothered at all by her wound. She just felt lazy. And since there was someone who was willing to serve her, why should she trouble herself? Lily could only sigh at her master’s antics.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Mingyan was tucked in on the hospital bed, her fingers stubbornly tugging at Shen Yan’s shirt, and her expression was at ease. She feared nothing as long as her Yan gege was here.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Shen Yan didn’t make her let go until he was sure she was in deep sleep. He stepped out of the room and dialled a number. Surprisingly, it was Lu Feng’s.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

“I know why you’re calling.” The man said as soon as he picked up.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

“Then you should know what I want.” Shen Yan said through gritted teeth.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Lu Feng messed his hair in frustration. He sighed in the end. “Let me take care of this.”

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Shen Yan’s eyes narrowed dangerously. “This matter can be yours.” He moved his gaze to the closed door and watched intently as if he could see through it. “But the next time will be taken care by me.”

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Lu Feng felt a bit of fear from his words. To think that her cousin would be acquainted with such a man, he couldn’t be sure if he should be happy or be scared on her behalf. “There will be no next time.” Even he doubted his words.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Shen Yan hanged up just in time for him to hear a rustling behind the door followed by a soft thump. He immediately bolted inside.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Mingyan was on the ground looking dazed. She was tearing up, and though she tried to keep it in, it still fell. One by one they dropped on the floor and only stopped when she heard the door opened.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Lily: You are very bad. Eavesdropping and pretending to sleep.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Mingyan: Tee hee! I’m giving him a surprise!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

“Yanyan get up! The floor is cold.” Shen Yan couldn’t believe that his heart could ache even more than it had, but he really felt that he couldn’t take such a scene calmly. He was getting more and more distress, and he couldn’t pinpoint exactly why.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Mingyan’s trembling mouth opened, and what came out was a hoarse yet cute voice. “Yan ge~ don’t leave~”

“Yan ge?” Mingyan looked up from below and her tears once again started to fall. She was afraid that her Yan ge would say no. But how could he say no? Especially now that she called him in such a coquettish tone.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Indeed, Shen Yan felt that as long as she kept calling him with her voice, he could tolerate anything she wanted. Just like now, he couldn’t say no to her request at all. Even though he knew he was stepping into the boundaries between a man and a woman, he couldn’t help himself. He couldn’t fight it.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

“Shhh, don’t cry. Yan ge will stay. Yan ge will stay okay?” He finally moved from his frozen position and gently carried Mingyan back unto the bed. He tucked her in again and hesitated, before getting in on the bed as well.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Lily who watched this scene unfold was frozen in surprise in Mingyan’s mind. Is this man an idiot or is my master just too good? Or is it both? She really couldn’t understand how with just a few words from Mingyan, Shen Yan’s love for Mingyan as a sister shattered. It had been wavering, standing on a thread this morning, and the catalyst that finally made him fall was to hear Mingyan’s voice. The voice he had been anticipating since the first time they met.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Mingyan held Shen Yan’s arms like a log on the ocean. She entered dreamland with a smile, while Shen Yan couldn’t sleep right away because he stared at her for a few hours.
