They got punished but none had the self reflection especially her mother. But then not everyone learns after suffering. With Su Xingchen’s personality she ignored people who didn’t care about her. She didn’t do things like settling accounts or face-slapping which gives us viewers instant gratification but this kind of indifference was good too. Also I loved Cheng Kangyao. Haha, I wouldn’t have thought I would like a green haired guy. (Well I like Moss head Zoro too. ) But Kanyao is just cute.

From what I can understand, it seems like Su Xingchen ascended into an immortal and Cheng Kangyao is her ‘dog’ so he gets to come with her but he has to be reborn first.
Anyways they have THE best romance I’ve ever fucking seen. I LOVE when the Male Lead isn’t so far away, lofty and unreachable, instead, they both matured and grew up together

I don’t know if I would read another novel like this one unless the ML is like Green Hat Kangyao.
On another note the story was too redundant too often overexplaining stuff. But even then I enjoyed reading this one.

and im pretty sure locking someone up for that long, even if it is punishment for a child, it is considered abuse.. well atlest in my contry. If it is really legal to imprison your own family member no mather their age then china is even more fucked up than what i thought.
Im also dissapointed that the brother did not get a happy ending, the only good person in the entire Su family and really did try to change for the better the moment he started to see and understand how his secound sister was being abused. He deserved a much better ending.

Not disappointed in her choice to reach immortality at all, her entire rebirth road was to aim for her own goals regardless of what others may say. Whether it be studying, competing or earning money through stardom. She never once let someone influence her from her own aims and had a clear view which is absolutely formidable. I’d have been disgusted if it went down the road of dying together. Why’s that women always have to step down and only devote themselves for love? Why can’t you have ambitions as a woman? Can’t you just be happy that she prevailed and never failed? Why act like the peanut gallery in the novel?

It’s true that at times, it felt more like a study propaganda, and let’s be honest, Xingchen truly has plot armour… Everything she applies herself to do is always a success, and even then I felt she should have come clean with her biological parents to clear this almost siberian toxic relationship.
But then again, it fits the mentality and the life experiences of the female MC…
Still, it was a very good read and I feel anything but thankful to have shared it with everyone, readers and translators and even the occasional lurkers (like me eheh…).

So, was it just a dream and she was really on the mountain trying to break through all this time? Or did she really go back in time and changed her life?
It’s kind of confusing because after Cheng Kanyao dies, the next paragraph begins with, “At the same time…” And later on it says, “Thousand years had passed.” Which makes it sound like her current time right after experiencing his death.
It was a very good story. Not the usual, go back in time with a cheat or a system and grind and level and other predictable face slapping events.

my impression is that she really did go through all of that, but it was being told through the lens of su xingchen’s heart demon, which was her final step to immortality in this case… the heart demon being her first life. the second life is her overcoming the heart demon.
(that’s just me though!)

This is my understanding of the ending as well. This story, her “2nd chance at her first life”, was her tribulation to immortality. In a way, this really did not happen. But at least, in her immortal life, she has decided to take Kangyao with her. Hopefully, he becomes an immortal too.
