The Legend of Divine Mystics - Chapter 5
Chapter 5: Unexpected Encounter
Its pitch black fur shined under the night sky. It was like she was seeing it filled with glowing stars. It made Anuja felt like she was coursing through the galaxy and then she saw it, a pair of topaz green eyes pierced through her with such sincere concern that made her feel vulnerable under its gaze.
Never in her 20 years of life had she felt…
It felt perfect as if this was all meant to happen. Her eyelids feel heavy but she didn’t want to let her sleepiness from fatigue to win. Eventually, they started to droop, her struggles were of no use as darkness consumed her sight.
“Aaah!!! I feel like sh*t,” she mumbled as she groaned in pain. It felt as if her whole body was on fire, her muscles were aching in pain. But what hurt the most was her heart. It was such a strange feeling. All she could see was darkness.
That was when she felt a cool hand sweeping across her hair, clearing away all her worries and pain with it, plunging her into the world of nothingness again.
Later at the castle:-
Awakening from a deep slumber with a yawn, she looked to her right, expecting to see the usual scenery of animals flocking near her at the bedside lake. But to her surprise, what she saw was completely unexpected. In front of her stood a young lady with long hair that reached her waist and was combed neatly.
“Good morning, Madam. How are you feeling now?” said the lady in a maid’s clothing. She tried to sit up and she felt a little ache all over her body. Ignoring it, she took a look around the unusual surrounding and her eyes immediately detected the absence of her friend.
“Hello. Umm, if you don’t mind me asking, could you tell me what place is this?”
“Oh my! I’m sorry for my lack of manners. I’m Lizanna but you can call me Liz, your maid in waiting. You are currently in the Rising Palace, the home to King of all Kings, King Ryan. He found you in Lake Dvaar when you were unconscious…” said the young maid.
‘How could King Ryan gave importance to such an insignificant creature, that too, a human.’ She sneered inwardly, thinking of ways to throw the human out as soon as possible. But first, she must follow her dear Ryan’s order and get her ready to bring her for breakfast.
‘Great! I almost died due to drowning because of my stubbornness. Also the fact of being a friend of a mermaid. Just great!!’ Anuja thought. She was worried about her friend, but she would be fine, she was a mermaid after all.
For one could see how proud the maid was of her kingdom and its king. Anuja decided it would be wise to not inquire any further and ask this King himself about what is going on. She must thank him for saving her life too.
After that, she helped the maid with her morning chores.
. . .
Anuja was escorted towards her room after having her breakfast in the dining room. From what she had heard from Liz, she came to know that she was currently in Amar realm. A realm of supernaturals with no residing humans. In this realm, humans were loathed and in some cases, they were considered a rare delicacy.
Eh, it was not like she can say that she was happy about knowing her location.
But, at least, one good thing came out of all these. Anuja came to know of a brand new world. She heard that there were fairies and elves in this world, and the coolest one were the vampires. But she also heard that their region was out of bounds and their most favourite meal would be humans, so she didn’t think that it was that much of a good idea to try to see them.
Well, leaving all these aside, the thing that most interests her, was this King of Supernaturals.
‘What kind of person is he? He must be a really good person.’ She felt as if he was familiar for some reason and frowned.
She just couldn’t remember and this headache was troubling her ever since she woke up in this world. She spent the rest of her day in the gardens and then back to her room. Ryan still hadn’t returned yet. It looked like she wouldn’t be able to see him today but she really wanted to see him.
‘Looks like it’s time to go to bed.’ That was when she heard the sound of a knock on the window. Her heart rate increased by the shock from the sudden noise. Who could be there at this time and, that too, outside when she was in the 5th floor and the fact that the castle was on a hill?
At first, she tried to ignore the sound, thinking that her mind was playing tricks on her. Maybe being in a new place, a new world to be precise, was getting to her.
She just needed to rest for some time and then everything would be fine. But after some time, there was another series of knocks. The sound continued to persist no matter how much she tried to ignore it.
She thought she should call one of those guards, who were usually present in the hallway. Thinking of that, she got up and went into the hallway to ask for help, but to her dismay, no one was present there. That was how she reacted in this situation, moving towards the window as she tip-toed cautiously.
In her way, she picked a vase that sat on top of the dresser just for her safety, who knows what kind of creature it might be to be able to reach the window at such a height. ‘Don’t… don’t worry, Anuja, it’s not gonna be anything serious. Maybe it’s just a little sparrow. Yeah! A sparrow at night, way to go, Anuja. I just hope it is nothing dangerous and carnivorous. Alright, let’s do this!’
