Mrs. CEO's Husband - Chapter 7
It has been 2 weeks since the party in Kalne; the weeks that passed by was quite peaceful until now, when a visitor came to the Lambert Mansion. Since it was too early in the morning, Michaela woke up in a grumpy mood. She thought no one would dare cut off her vacation as a fresh out of university grad, but she thought wrong.
“Morning, Mika,” Grandpa Niko greeted her.
“How’s your morning, Grandpa?” Michaela serenely smiled at him.
“It’s fine. Hans said there was a visitor. He tried to send the man away but he just won’t leave.” Grandpa Niko pinched the space between his eyebrows and sighed.
A man? Michaela speculated about all sorts of male friends and acquaintances, but then her mind wander to the thought of a certain guy in Kalne, it would be troubling if it was him.
“Let’s go see this man,” Michaela suggested.
Although Grandpa Niko thought Michaela’s smile and encouragement was a bit odd, he didn’t delved into it. Walking to the living room, they saw Butler Hans going in with a tray of refreshments.
“Hans,” Michaela called, he then halted his steps and walked over to his masters
“Good morning, Master, Lady Yu,” he gave a slight bow.
The two also greeted him back.
“Who’s in the room?” Michaela curiously asked.
“The man said you know him and he’s from Miss Yu’s school,” Hans explained.
“My school?” Michaela couldn’t believe anyone from her school would come find her. Why?
Well, according to her school history, there will be at least one person who will try to antagonize her and destroy her reputation. The main reason would be her grades, being first in the whole university. Second would be the boys, too many wanted to pursue her but no one succeeded, and last in the list would be her being the ‘Ice Queen’.
Not everyone can put up with a serious girl who barely had any enthusiasm to communicate. Maybe she could also be called a nerd if not for her breath-taking beauty. Given the various reasons, obviously no one would be willing to come to her house unless their face was thick as a brick.
“Okay, I’ll handle this.” Michaela faced Grandpa Niko, and Hans accompanied her.
To Michaela’s surprise, Wen Donghai, the most sought after by the girls of her batch, went to her. She started to rack her brain as to why this guy would seek her. Nothing clicked in her memory so she simply stared at him, head tilted with a confused look.
Wen Donghai found this scene so adorable that he chuckled a bit. This made Michaela retrieved her expression and her face showed a cold look instead.
“Hello, good to see you, Mr. Wen. I wonder what business do you have with me this early?” Michaela said with a hint of annoyance and indifference, she didn’t bother to hold out her hand for them to shake.
It’s a pity for Donghai to be treated like this given his pleasant looks, no one could deny. But he understood he was in the wrong, so he took no heed with this cold response.
“Good Morning, Miss Yu,” Donghai smiled kindly, “I came here to inform you about our get-together as new graduates.”
“We have one?” Michaela furrowed her brows and was puzzled, but she remembered to signal Donghai to sit down. “May I ask why I am invited?”
Donghai slightly chuckled at this question. “Miss Yu, why do you think you’re not?”
“Well, didn’t you already knew?” Michaela stated as if it was an obvious fact.
Donghai couldn’t hold back anymore and laughed. Michaela looked at him like he was a weird species.
“Oh, please, don’t look at me with that face,” Donghai continued to laugh, and Michaela started to get slightly annoyed.
Michaela then wore a serious expression and gave a small smile.
“Miss Yu, by all means, you possess all the rights to be there. You are in the top 2 of all of our exams and the leading beauty of our year. Hence, why wouldn’t you be invited?” Donghai declared all the facts to Michaela’s face.
“Well, I’m not like everyone. I don’t assume things that thing will happen.” Michaela’s eyes dark and she looked bored at this conversation.
Wen Donghai felt like Michaela was mocking him, which was the truth. Due to his huge ego, Wen Donghai suppressed the urge to flip the table and stormed out of her house. He admitted that Michaela was a great beauty but not falling for him was a sin; at least that was what Wen Donghai thought. Using his kind demeanor, he extended his hand to hand over the invitation card.
“Here, make sure to come. Wu Yanmei will be there too so you won’t be bored.” Mentioning Wu Yanmei, he expected Michaela Yu to soften a little, but she didn’t.
“Okay,” Michaela received the invitation, “did you contact Yanmei already?”
“No, not yet.” After getting the reply, Michaela stood up as if she was escorting Wen Donghai out of the house. Wen Donghai also stood up but remembered something.
“Ah,” he exclaimed.
“Is there something else?” Michaela asked.
“Yeah, you need a partner to enter the party. That’s why I’m here,” he helplessly said.
“Don’t you have your girls?” Michaela stated more than asked
“Well, if I go to the party with one of them they might cause an incident.”
Michaela then nodded as if she understood something. “Okay, I’ll be your partner.”
Wen Donghai’s eyes went wide as if he didn’t expect this reply. Actually, he didn’t really expect anything from this cold beauty.
“Really?! I thought you would refuse!” Wen Donghai exclaimed with joy.
Michaela then smiled a little at the sight of his foolishness. Wen Donghai saw this smile and immediately became stunned. How could a raw beauty, like Michaela, smile so easily? ‘She’s giving me a tremendous fright…’ Wen Donghai thought in his heart.
While he’s blushing, Michaela thought something was amiss with him and stroked his forehead. This made Wen Donghai blushed even more in shame.
“Eh? Is there something wrong?” Michaela asked with a worried tone.
Wen Donghai then rapidly fixed his expression and demeanor. Michaela felt satisfied with this action of his.
“Okay, then I’ll send you outside,” she professionally smiled at him.
“While we’re at it, can I inquire what you would wear?” Wen Donghai then smiled at her friendlier than ever, but it appeared to Michaela as him trying to show off his good-looking face.
Michaela that wasn’t wrong in anyway. Wen Donghai was trying to show off to everyone, but the subject wasn’t just about him. It was to appear like a ‘lovely couple’ at the party, then create a commotion surrounding them. While he was preparing everything in his mind, Michaela, too, was planning something and thinking of what may happen at the party.
Although the main idea was Michaela and Donghai coming together as a convenient pair. In reality, it was a dreadful idea; many will assume and others will suspect.
She, Michaela Yu, planned to stay away to Wen Donghai after walking the so-called ‘Red Carpet Event’. They do have this so-called red carpet for those people that came from a wealthy family to allow them to not bring shame to their family name.
They made small talk as they strolled to the entrance of the mansion.
“This is where we part,” Michaela bid a goodbye.
“Don’t forget!” Wen Donghai prompted her again for the umpteenth, like a child reminding its parents about a school event.
“Yes yes, I’ll remember. Take care on your way home,” she said indifferently. This guy could remain her friend but not more than that, she thought.
“Then, I’m off, I’ll be escorting you from here,” he reminded again then finally went on his way. After seeing Donghai left in his car, Michaela Yu went back inside the house.
Grandpa Niko appeared out of nowhere and said, “I think that guy likes you.”
She merely glanced at him and said with declaration, “We can be friends, but I can’t afford to give him more than that.”
Grandpa Niko somewhat agreed to her train of thoughts. “Yeah, not too close. Don’t allow him to assume anything.”
“I don’t leave any holes unpatched,” Michaela said proudly.
“Well, you don’t, but sometimes some people like to exploit those holes,” Grandpa Niko gave Michaela a piece of advice.
Michaela re-organized her thoughts, then said, “Well, I’ll deal with it when we get there.”
Inside Wen Donghai’s car, Donghai laughed out of nowhere. Just him plotting how to convert Michaela Yu into his property, he broadly smiled at that simple thought.
Wen Donghai said to himself, “Michaela Yu. Oh, Michaela Yu, you’re the only one for me.” He then displayed an evil grin that reflected in the mirror.
