Chapter 15: Visiting Diseases
Qin Yue went out of the door. Gu Yubai pulled the needle out from his hand and sat up. His back ached. His grandfather hadn’t used a light hand, but he was able to dismiss the marriage contract with Zou Minjun. It was worth it.
The only thing that bothered him was the innocent Zou Minjun. For the past three years, she had been single-mindedly considerate to him. As long as it was anything related to him, no matter how small, she always kept it in mind. He was the center of her universe. At that time, he could see nothing wrong with going out with a gentle and beautiful woman. At least she loved him. He would love her, pamper her, and care for her.
Who could guess that as she appeared in his life again, he could not continue with his life? He couldn’t marry Zou Minjun. Although he didn’t love her, he still spoiled her and cared for her. Now he hurt her. Before he could realize it he got drawn by Lin Meng again.
When she left leaving all the mess to him, his heart turned numb. Now that she was back he felt it beating vigorously again. He even felt the need to celebrate her return. It was mixed with the thrill of revenge. But after a while, those feelings disappeared. What remained was infinite loneliness and jealousy.
Love her, hate her. Loving was worse.
He was a mess. She hurt him, shredded his heart. Why couldn’t he forget her? Forget the damage she cost him? Forget the happiness she brought him? Forget how she incited him?
Yes, he couldn’t forget it. So, this time he had to tie her to his side and ensure that she never gets the chance to escape. It didn’t matter if she didn’t love him, as long as she stayed by his side.
The doctor urged Gu Yubai not to leave the hospital because of his weak physical condition. The wounds had started to infect, and it was not suitable to be discharged. But, with Gu Yubai’s insistence, the doctor agreed. He prescribed some anti-inflammatory and analgesic medication. After the procedures, he got discharged.
When Lin Meng came home, Huai’an was awake, sitting on the bed, waiting for her like many previous nights when she came back home from work late.
“You are back, so I will go back to my room.” Ouyang Ning patted Huai’an’s head and said to Lin. Tonight, she picked him up and played with the kid. She had never felt so tired. Working in the operation theatre for more than ten hours was easier than taking care of a child.
In the past few years, Xiao Meng raised the child alone. How hard was it for her? The little girl who used to be so cute and playful had gradually grown into a gentle and strong mother. The bitterness of life was known to her.
The price of this growth was heavy.
Lin Meng nodded. She hugged Huai’an, patted his back, and lulled him to sleep.
“Right, you didn’t come back at night, Grandma is unhappy. You find some time tomorrow to explain to her.” Only when she had walked to the door did Ouyang Ning remember her grandmother’s gloomy face.
Lin Meng nodded. Except for Xiao Ning, she had not told anyone about meeting him. She expected to come back early but never thought it would take her so long.
Huai’an was sleepy. It took him less than two minutes to fall asleep in her arms. Lin Meng got up and covered him with a quilt. She picked up the clothes to wash and walked into the bathroom.
